23:15 the answer is in most cases no, African wildcats are wild animals. Though they are actually the species domestic cats were bred from (that’s why they look so similar!).

These animals are not here to do tricks for you, this is their home! How would you like it if I came in and starting tapping your head and throwing garbage at you? I hated that they were forced to put tarps up for the giant otter’s safety because people kept throwing trash in, jeez! 27:58: I thoroughly enjoyed the train ride Tom! Very relaxing! 34:35: This part of the ride reminded me of Polar Express, when they’re going down the hill to Flat Top Tunnel! Thanks for that bit about my beard, I just wish I didn't have so many gray hairs 😋 I was sad the reptile building wasn't open, I thought it was strange that all other building were open. Perhaps they were doing some construction updates to the building. It really does irk me when ignorant people harass the animals by yelling or banging on the glass. They think the animals should be up moving around all the time and not sleeping. I do enjoy the train rides as it brings out my inner child. Plus it lets me get off my feet while I enjoy the behind the scenes and animal habitats. I have in fact watched the Polar Express numerous times so I know that part you mean. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies too. I really appreciate that I'm your favorite UA-camr. I wanted to do my videos different than others that did zoo and aquarium vids. @@treys1607 I was still early in my planning for that trip. There are several zoo and aquarium locations I want to visit as well as several theme parks. Depending on how severe Winter is next year for that area, I'll decide how early I'll go.
@@TomsRoadTrippin They are at the Birmingham Zoo. The brothers, Luti and Gadzi, arrived from San Diego Safari Park in 2019. When they were 9 and 10. Bulwagi has been there for over a decade and he's 40. Gadzi was the one who came over. And later was splashing.
I don't know if you got a change to talk with anyone there. But the Birmingham Zoo has a bachelor herd. Where young males can come and learn to be an adult from Bulwagi. Before they go off to other zoos for breeding. This is the only African bull herd in the US. And Denver has the only Asian bull herd. They have already moved 3 elephants out. I can remember where the first went, the second went to Sedgwick. And in 2019 Callie went to Omaha. Where they announced successful one female is pregnant.

Filming the locations takes much more time than what is shown in the videos you see on my channel. As you know from my videos I try to get the best shots of the animals, going back multiple times to get the best view. I am usually looking through my cameras screen so I don't always notice things that viewers notice. The editing process is time consuming, I work a few hours after work each night. Even though this takes a lot of my time, I enjoy visiting places and sharing them with my viewers. My road trip is 14 days away, I am very excited to get back on the road 🚗

And you come home and edit for a couple hours? Like hats off to you man, I guess you could say there’s a lot more to it that meets the eye on the Tom’s Road Trippin Channel! Take care Man! I'm always speaking softly to the animals as not to scare them. My camera equipment startles them sometimes so I try not to talk loudly.

I recently heard that they shut down their California Sea Lion exhibit and shipped them to the New England Aquarium

Was there a petting zoo if so were you able to pet the animals
The goats and sheep were outside but there was a rope blocking access to them. So no touching or feeding.

What animals were not out the first time but where our the second time
The Jaguar which was fantastic, Fennec Fox and Black-footed cat.
I was able to show a partial view of the Giant Otter my 2nd time around. Other than that I'm pretty sure that's it.
What exhibits were open and what exhibits were closed
The reptile building was the only area closed.
Flamingo feeding and the lorikeet feeding open
The lorikeet aviary was open, people could feed them. The Flamingos were out but no feeding available.
Did you know that they used to have Gorillas here but the last one got transferred to the Riverbanks Zoo

Usually a 10 hour shift 5 days a week.
My favorite animal is a Khan the jaguar

The Zoo actually used 2 have Hippos
Zoo's frequently move animals, some zoo's have better habitats and more space. It's a bummer to see an animal leave your home zoo though.
