- Cameron Park Zoo is a 52-acre (21 ha) natural habitat zoo located within Cameron Park in the city of Waco, Texas, United States, next to the Brazos River. Established in July 1993, Cameron Park Zoo has lush native vegetation that surrounds splashing waterfalls, a picturesque lake, and ponds. And in the midst of all this beauty, visitors see that the wild ones not only survive in their natural habitat, but they also flourish. The zoo features a diverse collection that includes over 1731 animals, representing 300 species from around the world.
The Cameron Park Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).
Cameron Park
Cameron Park Zoo is located with Cameron Park. Cameron Park covers 416 acres (168 ha), and is one of the largest undeveloped municipal parks in Texas. It is located at the intersection of the Bosque River and Brazos River. Situated in Waco's Cameron Park, the zoo enjoys lush native vegetation and adjoins nearby limestone cliffs, which provide an excellent view of Waco.
Exhibits
The lush native vegetation of Cameron Park Zoo serves as a backdrop for exciting exhibits featuring animals that are indigenous to North America as well as exotic species from around the world. Natural habitats combined with excellent animal care creates an environment where animals thrive.
GIBBON ISLAND
Upon entering Cameron Park Zoo, visitors are often greeted with the songs of a pair of white-handed gibbons calling from their lush island habitat. With the large wooden deck overlooking the lake and gibbon habitat.
BALD EAGLE
Our national emblem, the Bald eagle, is housed in an aviary near the Meadows.
GALAPAGOS TORTOISE
The Galapagos tortoise exhibit is home to Gilligan, the Professor, and Skipper.
SOUTH AMERICA
One of the zoo’s busiest places for little people is Grammy Nell’s, and directly across from that place is one of the zoo’s busiest places for little animals: El Rey de la Montaña. This South American habitat is very diverse, featuring mammals, birds, and reptiles.
BRAZOS RIVER COUNTRY
The Brazos River Country is one of the brightest jewels of Cameron Park Zoo’s many treasures.
HERPETARIUM
The Cameron Park Zoo Herpetarium demonstrates the diversity of species that inhabit similar environments throughout the world.
AFRICAN SAVANNA
The African Savanna is home to African hoof stock, elephants, and white rhinos. Perhaps the best vantage point for this exhibit is the Treetops Deck adjacent to the Treetops Café. From this area, the visitor gets the feel of being on safari in Africa watching the animals meander across the savanna.
WHITE RHINOCEROS
The large White rhinoceros paddock allows ample room for these massive animals to wallow in mud, take sand baths, or drink from the pool that separates their habitat from the African hoof stock.
AFRICAN ELEPHANT
African elephant, Tembo, enjoys this large habitat at Cameron Park Zoo. A pool offers her a place to cool off while large depressions in the rockwork and termite mounds offer places for keepers to hide enrichment treats and a tall enrichment pole allows Tembo to forage for treats overhead.
LEMUR ISLAND
Across the lake from Gibbon Island lies Lemur Island.
AFRICAN LION
At the beginning of the walkway leading to the African Savanna the visitor encounters the “King of Beasts,” the African lions.
SUMATRAN TIGER
Cameron Park Zoo visitors begin their journey through the Asian Forest exhibit at the Sumatran tiger habitat.
ASIAN FOREST
Imagine traveling into the jungle to encounter an abandoned Asian temple inhabited by Bornean orangutans and Komodo dragons. This is your experience in the Asian Forest expansion at Cameron Park Zoo.

This was the first zoo I ever visited, and I've loved them ever since.
It's a really nice zoo, good to hear your still enjoying going 😊
Nice little Zoo. I like the effort they are doing with the natural looking habbitats. Greetings from Germany ;)
I really enjoyed this zoo, the layout was fantastic and the habitats were gorgeous. The full color signage really added to the charm of the zoo. Thank You for watching my tour, I hope to visit Germany one day.
Thank you for showing us this zoo, it seems smaller but very nice!
Glad you enjoyed my tour. It's a great zoo for it's size.
i saw somewhere that theses spoon-nosed big fishes are also called "sturgeon"... first time i see them with the mouth wide open, it's terrific XD
I saw a some sturgeon yesterday at river safari one of the zoos in Singapore!
My first time seeing them like that as well. Quite interesting to see 😳
Loved the video. Elephants are always my favorite animals!
Elephant are fun to watch as they interact with each other. The young elephant are really cute 😁
What was the name of the Snake that was with the Texas ratsnake
His name was Brad
Beautiful Zoo!!
It really was nice 😊
Love the vids man, keep up the good work!
Thank You, I'll keep making new content 😊
I always made a visit here when I had to travel to Waco for work (visiting local zoos were my main amusement for my free time when I was spending my life "on the road"). Probably the best small zoo I've been through and all the animals has lots of room with great enclosures and all looked very healthy and in great condition. I did not see any "stereotypical movements" among the inhabitants. If you get there right when they open you get to see a lot of the animals eating their breakfasts!
This is an exceptional zoo, very enjoyable to walk around. I usually get to zoo's at opening so It's nice to see many of the animals enjoying a meal.
Tom are you going to the Caldwell zoo or the Ellen trout zoo next
Ellen Trout Zoo is available now
If Youre in Waco You should visit the Dr Pepper Museum I Highly Recommond It.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to check it out in a future visit to Texas.
What species were in the bird aviary after the aquarium
There were signs for most of the birds
Hi, loved this video as a rundown of what to expect going to this zoo!! its great how detailed you document all of the signs! I just noticed at first you called the jaguars "cougars" where you might be thinking how black jaguars/leopards are called "black panthers" where "panther" and "cougar" actually refer to mountain lions (also pumas!) and then on your re-walk just after seeing the mountain lions, at the texas cats sign you said they're one that the zoo doesn't have, I think because you were thinking "cougars"- lots of names for these cats!
Thanks for the correction, it gets confusing sometimes 😕
Hey Tom!
I just finished the video. I apologize for the extremely late comment man, I worked almost all week which took up my evening and by the time I get home, the only thing that’s on my mind is bed. Then of course I have school.
But that aside, I really enjoyed this video! Very nice selection of animals! I especially enjoyed the reptile house, I enjoyed the green anaconda the most I think! There may have been only one elephant on habitat maybe because it’s a bull elephant, which live alone.
All of the signage was absolutely amazing, the information, artwork, just wow! I also really enjoyed the freshwater and saltwater buildings. Three things relax me: Sitting by a campfire, watching fish in a fish tank and doing recovery at work. That’s when I get a cart-full of stuff and put it back on the shelves.
Oh and I don’t remember the time stamp but you called one of the tortoises the wrong name. I think it was a Sulcata and you called it Aldabra by mistake if I remember correctly.
I think that’s it for me Tom! Again, sorry it took so long. I’m going to try my very best to finish your next video before the next one comes out man. I’m off most of this week except tomorrow which is the last day of my week long stretch.
Looking forward to your reply as always Tom!
That place is working you hard Noah, I hope your making the Big Bucks at least. The reptile house was really nice. I couldn't tell if the elephant had a second trunk or not. The zoo's layout was fantastic, I much enjoyed the full color signage throughout the zoo. A great selection of animals with beautiful habitats. I hope you have a little downtime between school and work. Thanks for continuing to support my channel. Getting close to 5K now 😁
@@TomsRoadTrippin Yeah Tom they make me work that’s for sure! I’ve impressed all my managers with the exception of my assistant East Indian manager Prateek. But apparently he’s not a good manager and nobody likes him, not even the store manager. But all the other managers in the store are really impressed with me!
I am earning quite a bit!
I am here for when you reach 5K! So excited!
Yes I agree the whole zoo was beautiful!
Expect a comment on Ellen Trout Zoo Wednesday or Thursday.
After tonight, I have 4 days off luckily
4 days off sounds like heaven 😁
