Thank you brother. I ordered the thermostat at work today from Napa. Just finished installing it and now to start it and see my fix. Again thank you and have a wonderful week
What a lifesaver. Thank you for this video ! You’ve made a subscriber out of me. Happened last night 2017 GMC Yukon XL SLT Trim This video saved me did it exactly as explained Took about 1 hour (took my time) Temp gauge was not moving at 160 and fan wasn’t turning off. Only call out is do a test drive around the block after you finish the replacement of the parts and do the initial fill of coolant Check the coolant level again You will see if dropped a bit more due to the loss of coolant when you remove the hoses. Man you guys are awesome. Just happened today. Got er done in about 45 mins. It’s a work truck so I can’t be off the road for too long. Many thanks for making it an easy fix.
Yesterday morning I'm on my way to the grocery store in my 2014 Silverda0, just turned over 105K. Divers window half way down, I'm hearing this strange roaring sound, look at gauges, temp on 160, like what? get out at the store and my cooling fan is getting with it. Popped the hood, my engine is cold. get back home and google- 2014 Silverado cooling fan stays on, temp 160. Search showed this youtube video, a couple more as well. So here I am. Replaced the TC and Thermostat this morning. Fixed it, thank you, thank you thank you. And thanks to You Tube. 😀
Did you disconnect the battery? Double check your work. Make sure everything is connected correctly. Are you using the correct parts? Make sure you are using the sensor and thermostat for your truck.
Using AC Delco parts for my exact uear. I forgot to mention I replaced the water pump, the thermostat and housing as it was all one piece. It ran fine after all the above and then today 6 months later the nightmare re-occured. Yes battery was disconnected and GM premixed coolent used.
Also of note. I found when changing oil a week ago my Coolent was low in reservoir, I have smelled coolent a few odd times. No visible leaks upon inspection. So unless you have a better suggestion, next is compression testing, then onto pulling the radiator.
Totally the thermostat. Coolent is clean. After resetting computer the gauge wants to work again. But cold or hot squeezing the low and high hoses to radiator moves the cpplent level in the reservoir
If anyone is still following. The thermostat plastic disintegrated near the reservoir line. Explains the leaking coolent. Replaced with Napa thermostat. One month in town driving all good. Then moment of truth. Towed a trailer. Camping. On way up i-70 from Denver the engine temps go way up. And kept bouncing between 207 and 250. Pretty amazing right. Well then I end up at a parts store. They have the premium 194 degree thermostat. Op't for this lower temp one. Pulled trailer home fine. Temperature stayed at 205ish and tranmission stayed at 194. With exception of vual pass and the Eisenhower tunnel. Conclusion: 194 degree thermostat is the only answer. Parts stores are selling us garbage. Keep a spare handy becuase these things are failing like one timeba year. R8ght after warranty expires.
Guys I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video. Had the annoying fan issue on and off over the last year. Followed step and step and it runs beautifully, and saved me $700 Can’t thank you enough!
2016 Siverado - I want to thank you very much. Sensor, stat and anti freeze $81.00 at O'Reillys. The first thing I struggled with was the clip for the airbox. I didn't want to break it, couldn't figure it out and found one of you other videos that helped me. Everything rolled pretty good from there. As I was taking the sensor out it fell behind the water pump. Tried to fish it out and it went in deeper.....now it's staying in there. Everything went juts like you said, I did not have a 19 MM deep socket, but a spark plug socket worked....? Anyway, you guys saved me at least $150.00 so anytime your coming to Paso Robles, CA for wine tasting please look me up and we'll drink some wine! Thumbs up and I subscribed, I will tell everyone. Need to change my passenger door lock actuator next......
THANK YOU for this awesome video! My husband's truck had this issue on a Sunday, and repair shops were closed. With your help, he got it done in time to drive to work tomorrow. By the way, he had his truck in the shop two months ago for the problem, they replaced the sensor but not the thermostat. Glad you know what you're doing!!!
I like to try DIY projects here and there but am incredibly intimidated at the prospect of working under the hood of my truck. This video empowered me, I was having the exact issue described here, so I ordered the parts and we got rolling, followed the video to a T and fixed the issue for my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. Thank you guys so much for your help!
EXCELLENT! Wife’s 16 Suburban just started doing this today. Ordered the thermostat and temp sensor from Advance Auto.. Even a tiny bit of mechanical inclination can get you through this and save some money at a shop.. Update a day later: Hell yeah! Temp 210 and holding!
I just wanna say shoutout to you man! was having that exact problem and your video came in so clutch! Was able to watch your video and fixed it same day, no more fan problems. Thank you!
My 2015 Silverado started this issue last night. I'm heading to the parts store to get these parts. Thank you for the great tutorial. I just subscribed to your channel.
Great help with this one. I was able to be hands on with it. I was a but unsure which way the clips pushed on the vent hookup so try pushing the middle and then pull if you're doing it. I also should have put a catch under the truck, the container was not enough for me. Other than that, everything was spot on! $70 for parts and quote from dealer would have been $800. Thanks.
Thank you for the video. Excellent explaination of problem and solution. I am not very mechianically inclined but decied to do this one myself for kicks. Worked great thanks to your video. Here are a couple of things I learned. 1. be careful tightening down the housing on the water pump. I used a battery powered driver that twisted when bolt got tight and popped off the nipple for the small hose. Bummer had to go buy another thermostat. 2. after buying a second thermostat, I learned that the thermostat comes apart and I could have used the old housing and replace the faulty thermostat. Why isn't the thermostat sold seperately?
Thanks for the informative video! I had the "demonic possesed fan" problem in a 2017. Scan tool showed the coolant temp rarely getting over 140F. I replaced both the TStat and sensor at the same time, about a 15 minute job. After, I realized my truck had been running cooler and cooler for a while and my mileage was dropping! 😉 I always had good heat, so I attributed it to winter weather and mostly short trips. I'm pretty sure the real problem was the TStat, but the sensor was cheap and easy enough to replace while I was there. Now the temp gauge reaches straight up and down and the fuel mileage has improved.
This is awesome. Thank you very much for making this video. My husband is out of town and this just happened to me last night. So strange there wasn't any warning, pulled in the driveway and heard the loud fan for the first time.
My wife pulled up just today after traveling about an hour and 40 minutes and I could hear the fan just running maximum speed.. Like Great! What’s this gonna take you fix..? How much? Thank god this is a $100 fix and half hour of my time..
Excellent video which helped me address the same issue on my ’15 Silverado 4.3L V6. Be very careful tightening down the bolts on the thermostat. Torque specifications for the bolts are, 89 in. lbs. for the 4.3L V6, 5.3L and 6.2L V8* 132 in. lbs. for the 6.0 V8* *According to Chilton's manual I did not have an inch-torque ratchet so I made my best guess and tried not to over tighten the bolts. After replacing the part, I test drove the truck. When I got back, I checked the thermostat and there was a very small bit of seepage at the mating surfaces. As I was tightening the bolts, one of them broke. With some difficulty I was able to get it out but the threads got messed up in the process. Not having a tap-n-die set, I had to use a slightly smaller bolt secured with a nut. This worked well.
Thanks for the updated video. I watched the first one and only got the Thermostat. I wanted to watch again and this one came up. So…I am headed to the parts store for sensor. And thanks for clarifying unhooking the battery to clear code.
Replaced both my sensor and thermostat just now. Burped the system and so far so good. Ideally it’s best to replace the thermostat if you have a bad sensor, cause the thermostat and sensor are on the same line!
Had this issue last night and at 5:30am found your video series. Thanks for the follow up! Will replace both when autozone opens. :-). Merry Christmas!
I'm glad that you looked into the video series. Lot of people don't, and you really need to watch all of it. We're actually working on a new video, but the only difference is it is going to be in 4k so you can see the details better. It's crazy that this has happened to another one of our trucks. Goes to show you that it's a real issue, but an easy fix.
I just had this happen about a week after installing Mishimoto radiator, Mishimoto Transmission radiator, Sure-cool Transmission bypass and Mishimoto radiator hose kit. It hasn't happened in a week since the first time but I will look at replacing 2 parts needed with OEM components and with battery unplugged.
It's such a bummer these trucks have issues like this. I'm glad people make good videos like this. I was able to fix mine from their last videos about this stupid issue.
Thanks man. We had a three part video series, but people never watched all three, just the first one. Hopefully one video explaining everything will help people more.
The only thing I'd add to this is you can siphon out our coolant reservoir and prevent most of the mess rather than catching it. The sensor is a 3/4 deep dish.
I'm having this same issue right now. I'm getting to replace the thermostat. Now I've already replaced the temp sensor a couple weeks ago do I have to replace it again? Or can I just unplug it then plug it back in?
I believe so. I would definitely check to make sure the parts that you get fit with the motor that you have. I believe the motors are the same in the trucks as the SUVs for these years.
2017 Suburban. Seems like the same issue, that the radiator fan is running at a high speed for a couple minutes after the ignition is turned off. Is there a problem driving the vehicle for a few days while the issue is going on?
I just had this problem pop up. J work at a major automotive parts store, im also an 87 uti grad. My question is whats the marrying of the sending unit and the thermostat. I noticed when looking up sending units they none show the sending unit parameters however the thermostat does. Maybe im over thinking this but seems temp parameters of sending unit would be helpful..
To be honest, I'm not sure the answer to that question. All I know is that if your place one or the other, the issue will continue. By replacing both and resetting the computer (disconnecting the battery), the issue will be solved.
Great video thanks! Just one question, has anyone ran into the issue that the outside temperature display(on the radio) is stuck on a certain temp after doing this job? Mine is stuck on 32 degrees with a battery reset
Along with the temp sensor, can you just replace the thermostat or do you need to replace the whole housing as well? I see you replaced the housing in the video. Very helpful video. :)
When you purchase a new thermostat it comes with the housing. So, there's no point in just replace the thermostat and not the housing. If you have the new part, you might as well use it. Thanks for watching!
Mine was doing this and replaced the Temp Sensor and fixed it (prior to watching this video). It came back a month later and I replaced both and my AC still won't work. I unhooked battery for a half hour after even.
The AC in these trucks are notoriously bad. You most likely have an unrelated issue. Your AC issue most likely stems from the condenser or the vacuum lines. It depends on the year of the truck, but they all fail. It's an expensive issue that is once again known by GM, but they won't do anything about it.
Aye bro thank you so fkin much for this fix! I have a work trip tomorrow and was able to get the parts at a local auto parts shop. Took me 30 min (minus dropping all the coolant on the floor) haha and it was good as new! God bless you brother
All you need to do now is change the thermostat. We made three other videos on this topic but everyone overlooks them. That is why we made this new video. Gotta replace the sensor and thermostat at once.
I’m not sure if I have the same issue. My temperature increases and I get a warning that the AC will be powered off. If I turn off the AC, the temperature goes back down. I changed the sensor and will be changing the thermostat to see what happens. I get no codes or other lights. Doesn’t happen every time I drive either. I have a 2017 Silverado 1500, 5.3L.
I replaced the thermostat, and the sensor disconnected the battery but the fans continued to run. Other than the thermostat and sensor, have you run into any other issues that can cause this?
@@TheBrothersWorkshop I verified the parts are compatible before installing and I went back through the install and nothing seem out of placed or incorrect. I do appreciate you replying to my message
@@dvnwlkrwhat was the final fix since the sensor and thermostat didn’t do it for u. Im Curious because i have a coworker with same issue. He replaced both parts and they still staying on
Does this issue effect the AC temp inside the vehicle? My GMC Sierra is having the issues described in the video, but now I'm noticing my AC is not as cold as it should be? Thanks in advance, all responses appreciated
@@TheBrothersWorkshopthank you! I did end up disconnecting both, and thanks to your awesome video and clear instructions, I completely resolved this issue by replacing both the thermostat and the temperature sensor 🙌🏼 and I am not mechanically inclined at all. Thank you again! I’m pretty proud of myself 😂😁
Make sure your wires are good. Sometimes they can go bad as well. Double check your work and don't forget to reset your truck by disconnecting the battery.
Is my truck okay to drive while I wait for the parts on Amazon? Would resetting the battery be a good option as well during the time I am waiting for the part?
It should be fine. I drove my truck while out of town on a road trip, until I was home and able to fix it. You can sometimes turn the truck on and off twice and the fan will stop.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop My 2016 Sierra did this last night. I was able to shut the motor off...then turn the key to ign but not to start. When the computor 'checked' the engine the fan shut down. I will be doing this fix today! Thanks!
So... we replaced the temp sensor a month ago and still had the fan continue to turn after turning off the truck. It did not do it all the time. But it would run the battery down regardless. Then we changed the thermostat yesterday. The temp level stabilized and the fan does not run when turning off the engine, but the battery still drains over several hours. The battery does charge when the engine is running and we put a charger on it, then it will start. Why would this continue to happen? Did it not reset after the change (disconnected the battery during change).
@@TheBrothersWorkshop Wanted to follow up... We did have a dead cell in the battery and replace the battery. Everything is working as expected, temp gauge right, no fan running, etc. Thanks again for your help!
So I just replaced the sensor and the thermostat, and I turn the truck back on and my engine fan Is still on high and doesn't turn off and went to clear the codes and it says "error failed to clear codes, you think it may be an electrical issue with the sensor harness?
I brought it back in for a diagnostic, and now they said that the A/C pressure sensor and the wire harness that connects to it, is bad so I went under truck and seen the wire harness to the A/C pressure sensor, the wire is tore up, so I'm about to replace that and I will double check the work I did.
@TheBrothersWorkshop I fixxed it, it was the A/C pressure sensor and the the A/C pressure sensor wire harness, went to chevy bought the parts and installed it and spliced the wires, and works great now!
Auto shop tries to charge me $1300-$1400, and have the truck all day, im like nahhh, my dude, paid $178 at chevy for both parts and did it myself, in like a couple hours
I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado with 65m miles 4.3 v6 WT. I did everything you and others have suggested. Same issue after each time. Finally broke down a went to Chevy dealer. $1200.00 later after they replaced the same items and the WIRES from sensor. Which they didn’t charge me for. Could it be that this is the real issue on these trucks?
I can't understand how the thermostat could be related to these issues. Or more precisely, how the combination of the TStat and CTS creates the issue. Forgive me, I don't mean to question your knowledge, I am just genuinely unsure of how the two could be related. I can see either one causing the fans to run or the AC to not operate properly. Stuck closed thermostat= high temp = running fans and maybe some issue with getting cool air or high temp forces the AC off as a protective measure. Bad CTS failsafe to a running fan. Only the temp sensor could explain the temp indicator never moving from 160. The sensor is upstream of the TStat right? Any additional explanation would be appreciated thank you :)
A lot of people can't understand this issue. All I can say is that if you don't replace both, the issue will return. These parts most likely fail together. If you don't replace both right away, you end up having to eventually.
@TheBrothersWorkshop Thank you for the reply. This is very fascinating. I will try to relay back to you what I find. So far, all I have noticed is the following: When I noticed the issue, my first step was to remove the sensor and hook up to a multimeter. I was expecting an open or a short. I found that the sensor was reading approximately 2.5Kohms. I also found that the resistance varied as expected with varying temperatures. I assumed this was not a problem, but I wasn't certain of the specs of this sensor, so when I saw your video and the price of the sensor, I just went for it. When I bench checked the new sensor, it appeared to operate in the same range. Room temp somewhere around 2.5k and fluctuating with temp appropriately. Now, I decided to replace the CTS with the new one anyway, just in case I was missing something. The new sensor did not clear the symptoms on its own. Resetting ECM by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it DID stop the dash indicator and aux fan symptoms. My A/C issue turned out to be one of the MANY leaking condensers, unfortunately. So that said, I did not replace the thermostat. About 4 days later, the problem returned. This time, I decided to just try the "ecm reset" ONLY. This, again, got rid of the symptoms. It has been a number of days since then and the issue has not yet returned. I want to wait for it to return again just for repeatability and maybe see if I can determine some other contributing factors. After that, I will replace the thermostat. Last, after some time passes, that leads me to believe the problem is actually solved, I would like to reinstall the old sensor just out of sheer curiosity(and because it is so easy) to find out if the problem returns. I will let you know how it goes 😆 Isolating the efforts to solve the issue, here is my summary so far: SENSOR REPLACE: FAULT REMAINS VEHICLE ON/OFF 3-4 TIMES: FAULT REMAINS BATERY DISCONNECTED/RECONNECTED: FAULT CLEARED 2-3 DAYS PASS: FAULT RETURNS BATERY DISCONNECTED/RECONNECTED: FAULT CLEARED 4-5 DAYS PASS: ......WAITING FOR FAULT TO RETURN Unfortunately, i was not keeping track of vehicle use(Start/stop, miles or time driven, etc.) during these waiting periods. I can say the vehicle was not driven every day and never for more than ~35 min.
Hi,i have 59 chevy with 2004 Silverado 4.8 swap, cooling fan stopped cutting in, temperature sensor works on obd scanner, fan does work on both speeds when hot wired and fan doesn't come on at all ,it boiled up sitting in traffic yesterday 🤦♂️any idea?thanks
I have replaced the components listed and the problem keeps coming back. I have to keep unhooking the battery to reset everything. There are no codes showing. Amy suggestions appreciated. Thanks. 2015 Silverado
There are other issues that cause this apparently because i followed this to the T. My issues are identical. All OEM parts. Water pump thermostat and temp sensor. Got it all neatly back together, reconnected the battery..issue came back about 20 minutes of driving later. Extremely disappointing. Ive heard A/C relay, changed that, issue came back about a week later. Issue throws no codes. 4.3 ecotec. OEM everything. Any ideas?
@@TheBrothersWorkshop O'reilleys said the sensor harness causes the same issue. They said cut it back as close as you comfortably can and wire in new one.

My wife pulled up just today after traveling about an hour and 40 minutes and I could hear the fan just running maximum speed.. Like Great! What’s this gonna take you fix..? How much? Thank god this is a $100 fix and half hour of my time..
This fan thing just happened to me tonight. I was freaking out until I found this vid. I’m doing this tomorrow morning!
Excellent video which helped me address the same issue on my ’15 Silverado 4.3L V6.
Be very careful tightening down the bolts on the thermostat.
Torque specifications for the bolts are,
89 in. lbs. for the 4.3L V6, 5.3L and 6.2L V8*
132 in. lbs. for the 6.0 V8*
*According to Chilton's manual
I did not have an inch-torque ratchet so I made my best guess and tried not to over tighten the bolts.
Followed all the steps and problems solved. Thank you for this informative video. Y’all rock!
I'm glad we could help!
Thanks!
I'm glad we could help. Thank you! 🙏
mine just did this today!! thank you part on order!
Awesome! It's an easy fix. You'll have it done in no time at all!!
Glad to find this video. I gotta do this exact thing to my 2015 Silverado today
Glad we could help!
Great video! Will replace mine today and let you know!
I'm glad we could help!
Replaced both my sensor and thermostat just now. Burped the system and so far so good. Ideally it’s best to replace the thermostat if you have a bad sensor, cause the thermostat and sensor are on the same line!
Great Video, Fixed my problem in 45 minutes. Thank you.
Glad to hear it!! 🙌
Had this issue last night and at 5:30am found your video series. Thanks for the follow up! Will replace both when autozone opens. :-). Merry Christmas!
Just got it fixed and it works like a charm! You are awesome!
Thanks dude great video
No problem!
Worked for us. Thank you for a thorough video!
You're welcome! Glad it helped.
Very cool. You took your time. Always give us the socket sizes.
Glad we could help!
Thank you Brothers . For the help 🇺🇸
Thanks I replaced both thermostat and sensor 👍🏾
Hope that helped you out!
That’s a perfect video, It helped me a lot! Keep up with the type of content men!
Thank you 👊🏽
Glad it helped!
Thank you great instruction video.
Glad we could help!
Thank you. This solves my issue
Glad we could help!
Thanks, but including the socket sizes would be a nice addition.
Excellent instruction video! Thank you!
I'm glad it helped!
Hello question does a new gasket come with the new thermostat? Or do I use the old one?
New one come in box. I didn’t see mine and did the whole job and had a leak. I had to redo everything, and put the seal on. Use the new one, good luck
Been there done that. Good Visio.
If you have already replaced the sensor, just disconnect the battery and replace the thermostat. Once you do that everything should work as it should.
Will these same parts apply to a suburban?
I believe so. I would definitely check to make sure the parts that you get fit with the motor that you have. I believe the motors are the same in the trucks as the SUVs for these years.
Worked perfectly on my 2015 Tahoe. Problem solved.
Glad to hear it.
My 22 gmc sierra Denali diesel is doing the same thing. Are the areas in the same location??
Do I need to buy the black peice for the thermostat or just the thermostat
The thermostat is all one piece.
Great video thanks! Just one question, has anyone ran into the issue that the outside temperature display(on the radio) is stuck on a certain temp after doing this job? Mine is stuck on 32 degrees with a battery reset
No, that's a new one that I haven't heard before.
Mine did the same thing today. Stuck on 32. How did you fix it?
I drove it for a while and turned it off . the next day everything was normal. I guess the computer had to clear for a longer period of time
@@carywatson9112let it sit over night. It will read correct temp after 8-12 hrs sitting. Happened to me
Is there a second engine temperature sensor other than the coolant sensor that is beside the thermostat? Any ideas on where it would be located?
Great info!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Omg Thank you❤ problem fixed!
You're welcome!
@@TheBrothersWorkshop appreciate the reply. It's just suspect that it happened at the same time.
Yeah, it's just odd how things happen to these trucks.
Aye bro thank you so fkin much for this fix! I have a work trip tomorrow and was able to get the parts at a local auto parts shop. Took me 30 min (minus dropping all the coolant on the floor) haha and it was good as new! God bless you brother
I'm stoked this helped you out! It's definitely a super easy fix. 🙌
If I changed sensor 4 months ago and fan still comes on can I just change thermostat or do I have to replace sensor again when I change thermostat
I have a 2017 Silverado 1500, 5.3L.
do you not have to bleed the coolant after?
I replaced the thermostat, and the sensor disconnected the battery but the fans continued to run. Other than the thermostat and sensor, have you run into any other issues that can cause this?
No, double check your work. Make sure all of the parts that you used are compatible with your vehicle.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop I verified the parts are compatible before installing and I went back through the install and nothing seem out of placed or incorrect. I do appreciate you replying to my message
@@dvnwlkrwhat was the final fix since the sensor and thermostat didn’t do it for u. Im
Curious because i have a coworker with same issue. He replaced both parts and they still staying on
Sometimes you have to hook up the scanner and clear the codes it should reset it
Does this issue effect the AC temp inside the vehicle? My GMC Sierra is having the issues described in the video, but now I'm noticing my AC is not as cold as it should be? Thanks in advance, all responses appreciated
This is usually happen to us during winter, so we've never noticed an AC issue. However, people we've talked to have had AC issues.
I think this is because the radiator is keeping the engine too cold to be efficient with AC. You need to generate heat to have AC
Awesome video ...thanks alot
No problem at all!! 🙌
I just bought a sensor a week ago. Already installed. So if im switching out the thermostat should i get another sensor? Thanks
No, you should be fine. The sensor is still new.
Are you only disconnecting the negative on the battery?
Disconnect both!
I wish I would have seen this video before. What if I replace the parts and then unhook the battery?
Hi. The 1st link works but it’s sold out. Just FYI to make sure you get your $$$ :)
Good look! 🙌🤙🏻
I did this earlier in the year and it worked. Now that it’s cold again it’s happening AGAIN! I must have some other issue. Only happens in the cold
Thanks!
I replaced both parts and still same issue. Disconnected battery for about 30 minutes and problem solved.
My 2014 Silverado just started with the fans staying on but I have heat and A/C but my temp gauge isn’t reading could it be a relay going bad?
What do you try to look for next if you have done this a few times and keeps happening
Clean your connections and check your wires. You may have a faulty connection.
Would this trip the check engine light?
It's possible but usually does not.
Helped me so much!!!! Thx!!!!
Glad it helped!
Did the new thermostat come with a new rubber gasket ?
yes
So... we replaced the temp sensor a month ago and still had the fan continue to turn after turning off the truck.
Sounds to me like you have a bad battery or an unrelated electrical issue. You can have your battery tested at napa, advanced auto, or auto zone.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop Wanted to follow up... We did have a dead cell in the battery and replace the battery. Everything is working as expected, temp gauge right, no fan running, etc. Thanks again for your help!
Good tutorial
Thank you! 🙌
I've had this problem for a while if I do this it will make my AC blow cold as well?
It's a possibility but the AC is known to go bad in these trucks. You may have a bad AC system.
is there any a/c issues with the gmc or silverado? mine wont blow cold air
Yes, the ac units are notoriously bad.
I replaced both and the fan still continues to run. Any advice from here? Only started when it got cold outside. It started at the end of last winter.
So I just replaced the sensor and the thermostat, and I turn the truck back on and my engine fan Is still on high and doesn't turn off and went to clear the codes and it says "error failed to clear codes, you think it may be an electrical issue with the sensor harness?
Double check your work and make sure you did this correctly.
So far, all I have noticed is the following:
When I noticed the issue, my first step was to remove the sensor and hook up to a multimeter.
I will let you know how it goes 😆
Isolating the efforts to solve the issue, here is my summary so far:
SENSOR REPLACE: FAULT REMAINS
VEHICLE ON/OFF 3-4 TIMES: FAULT REMAINS
BATERY DISCONNECTED/RECONNECTED: FAULT CLEARED
2-3 DAYS PASS: FAULT RETURNS
BATERY DISCONNECTED/RECONNECTED: FAULT CLEARED
4-5 DAYS PASS:
......WAITING FOR FAULT TO RETURN
Unfortunately, i was not keeping track of vehicle use(Start/stop, miles or time driven, etc.) during these waiting periods.
Sorry I don't know where to begin on that one.
I just subscribed because I drive a 16 1500sierra Denali and these videos are helpful.
Thanks for subscribing!! We really appreciate it.
I need parts number’s brotha working on my truck in the morning
Read the video description. Everything is listed there.
Thanks for the content, saved me a tantrum 😂
Haha that's what I like to hear. Saving grown men from tantrums is our job. 😂
Does this affect the power steering
No, it shouldn't have any correlation with the power steering.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop damn, this truck is giving me a lot of headaches haha
I have replaced the components listed and the problem keeps coming back. I have to keep unhooking the battery to reset everything. There are no codes showing. Amy suggestions appreciated. Thanks. 2015 Silverado
do you have to bleed the system after do all of this?
What's bleeding system?
Thank you!!!🙏🏻
No problem!
Any ideas?
If this didn't fix your issue, you don't have this problem described. Sounds like you might have a different issue all together.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop O'reilleys said the sensor harness causes the same issue. They said cut it back as close as you comfortably can and wire in new one.
