The Pretendelino Visits Wigan along with Arsenal FC - December 2012

- On Saturday 22nd December 2012 Arsenal F.C would play Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, Wigan. Train seems to be a preferred choice of the visiting team and Arsenal had chartered a train from Virgin in the form of "The Pretendelino" hauled by Freightliner's 90044.
First off we are at Wigan North Western on Friday 21st December for the teams arrival. I manage to get a few shots of the team much to the annoyance of one back-room individual but considering the team, manager nor police seem phased by our presence I continue filming - even the staff and police thought he was out of line, especially considering the media were waiting outside the station.
Moving on from there we see 90044 depart northbound toward Preston with the ECS move, indeed this train is going to Wembley however needs to reverse at Preston. We later see it race through Wigan with some toneage.
We resume filming on Saturday 22nd December when 90044 races northbound with the ECS move to Preston where it will reverse before coming back to Wigan. Next up we see 86126 leading the train back into Wigan. With a blast of tone 86126 then moves off with 90044 pushing hard to propel the train southwards on to Euston then Wembley. I was half expecting the previous days individual to be leaning out of a window to protest me filming the lads on the train as it passes, it would appear he lost all of his strength dealing with a platform full of Arsenal supporters who quite rightly were shocked when their team suddenly appear amongst them.
Many thanks to the staff at Wigan along with the BTP for allowing us to film, Virgin for actually holding on to a classic set and Freightliner for providing quality traction. Thanks also to Arsenal for chartering the train and the team for not being bothered by us, my legal team for clearing me to use my footage and also thanks to "that guy" for giving us something to laugh and moan about for many hours...

All in all it was nice to once again experience something which was up until 2004 a sight which was sadly taken for granted.
Best enjoyed in 1080, with the sound up - especially for the day shot of 90044 - what noise :D
