Excellent video I used to love working on 08/09s great little locos, would pull anything, So glad 026 is safe, used to visit her almost daily back when I signed Lovers. would there be a chance of using some of the audio to go with a model rail video I am planning please?
The 09 was normally used to shunt the Cross Country loco-hauled stock before Voyagers came along as there weren't any runaround facilities at Brighton. When that stock was withdrawn it pretty much spent its time shunting dead stock around Lovers Walk.
??? The departure sign said that it was running to TBW. Why did it go by road? Why not just send it out at night under its own power? It can't be THAT hard to fit it in.
Hi the only other people I was with that I know for sure is SouthernRailwaysFan and Brighton Trainspotter ;-) they all have videos of 09026 uploaded. Best Regards Matt
I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 77 Octagon and Every 47 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13, unique small no.11 and unique small no.10 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 18 Tonnes for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!! And Please do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? This particular engine wasn't, but shunting locomotives (also known as pilot locos, '350s', 'Jockos' etc) have been at Brighton for decades. Class 08, 09, 12 etc have all been based there, not to mention numerous main line engines. This particular loco was certainly based at Brighton since the mid to late 1990s. Back in the day, one loco would be at Brighton, one at Newhaven and one at Selhurst and the three locos would often swap over for maintenance purposes. I would imagine that Brighton/Newhaven to Selhurst was a journey and a half!
@@ValentaLamenter never fear 73202 is still here with us ... usually found at Stewarts Lane or St Leonards... its been a bit of time scince it appeared at Lovers Walk (last time it did was the 442 Retirement send off) also can be found at Selhurst too
Hello LRT, at Penzance we had 08644 a dual braked Pilot from about 1980 to the present day. I was a Shunter there from 1976 until 1986 and it never let us down, even in freezing conditions. It worked 24/7 except for Sunday night between 01.00 and 04.00 and Christmas Day / Boxing Day.
Good on the staff at Brighton for giving the 09 a send off! And I’m glad to see another engine enter preservation
I had this exact same locomotive as a Lima model way back when I had a model railway... I also had the Deltic and a Class 33...
Nice of the staff to give her the dets... was like a 21 gun salute... my fav class the 09/08...
Love this video, always used to give her a pat when I walked back from the Walk :)
Model Railways Unlimited Thankyou for watching :-)
well done to all for the video as well for preserving this loverly locomotive.
Timothy Smith Thankyou 😊
Great video good to see its going to be preserved
A similar shunter can be seen in Brighton in the Train Sim World video game… great to learn it got such a nice send off!
We used to have a class 09 at Allerton Depot in Liverpool, going back a few years now i'm afraid 👍
Bless her!
Yep I suppose going somewhere were she'll be put to good use is best, but will miss not seeing it at lovers walk from the bridge
Very first shunter I saw as a trainspotter. Was on holiday in Salisbury, guess I was 12 or 13 years old. Good times!
SAD.but happy as well,,,,she is going to a good home...we will see her again....
Beautiful catch! Well filmed! Love the sound of the 08 negotiating the curves at 2:09!! Cheers!
siddywiddyb Thankyou for watching :)
Sad to see another Gronk leave us :(((
Great bit of footage sir, thanks for sharing, nice to see the 08 in action! All the best, Paul
I like the guy on the winch. If the cable breaks he gets it right in the face. Doh!
Good video of a lucky one that
won´t meet the torch !

What a beautiful train! Great catch. Dunno if your around newhaven but I believe there is something at the town yard you may be interested in!
Some excellent service this little shutter has done for us. Any idea if it's being replaces
Hi Matt, I don't think it is being replaced :-). Thankyou for watching,

@@trainmania100 Many thanks :)
Great Video Mate
Thank you :-)
does anybody know what kind of shunting it did? As most of the trains there do not have screwlink as they are EMUs
It worked with 442s and carried out de icing

This Engine Looks A Little Like Paxton It didn't have a whistle or makes clouds of steam But it has a horn and this is a diesel shunter
Paxton is a BR Class 08
Why do they make a clicking sound?
Farewell old girl
Hello, did the detonators serve a practical purpose? Or was it just a symbolic gesture?
Symbolic gesture, sorta like a 21 gun salute.
Am I by saying sometimes this used to be stored in selhurst
I think it did go up the mainline a very long time ago but not in the past 20 years I don't think
southern railways loss and spa valley rlys gain. such a lovely loco. why did they let it go. same as why did br let the brighton belle go.
Do regret that comment three years on?
Is it my imagination or is this loco 3rd rail assisted? It looks to me like there are pickups sliding on the 3rd rail. Great vid btw
No it was on diesel power kind regards
who is the man filming near the dets, that would be good to see also

Why did they send it by truck instead of by rail?
Has a top speed of about 25mph, and also spa valley railway has no mainline connection
Lol

Given the number that fail on railtours these days I think we're better off with diesels and electric.
