What's FAS exercise meaning? Please
My avg was 22, however, I found this video AMAZING for 3 reasons: 1. The idea of getting to a higher number say 40-50 (Current Goal, not farfetched) I'm sure would be a game-changer in my life and anyone else's because the idea of me being able to communicate effectively would be mind-blowing at that rate I'm sure 2. Having a baseline of where I am today versus where I would like to be tomorrow is super important, plus this idea of doing this daily (or whenever you find time) can be super fun and exciting. I also believe in the philosophy of progression not perfection 3. The potential level of confidence that can be obtained by simple doing this exercise as much as you can is limitless. It's up to you...your in the drivers seat. Great video!
Progress Update?
@@nebsabe9413 I am averaging 28/29. My personal best is 32avg. I’m on Day 28. I keep a log of my progress to track my day-to-day progression.
@@LuckyStPoker Do you only do the FAS exercise with the letters F-A-S or have you found other letters/topics to use? If so could you list a few?
@LuckyStPoker Just read a dictionary, and you will be at 100 per minule 😂
This video is an eye opener for me, I will start practicing from today. Thanks for the push.. Continue the good work.
Glad it was helpful.

Wow, you are so amazing. Thank you for the tips, this may be a career saver/gainer.
Tuning in to your other videos now.
This is seriously glad to hear, I appreciate the encouragement for content like this!
You said legislature correctly the first time and then you change it to the wrong pronunciation for the context you were reading it in. I also wanted to say thank you for these videos. My verbal fluency is awful. I've had diabetes since I was 15 and I'm 49. I'm wondering if my unusual blood sugar has caused brain fog over the years. I appreciate your videos. Your accent is barely noticeable. Very cool!!👍🏼👍🏼
I went to the comments immediately after hearing her say that she mispronounced legislature the first time when, in fact, she did not. Glad I’m not the only one who caught that faux pas.
Indonesian here, nice to meet you and so to learn much from you Kakak. Terima kasih
This was so helpful and inspiring. Lady Tina you gave me chills!
thank you so much. i didn't know that my problem was an actual thing - i feel so validated!
Great video! Super helpful.
Love this video. I’ve doing vlogging while learning English, but I am not consistent with it! Going to start being more consistent. Thank tou ❤
Great information thanks!
Looooove your Videos!!! Thanks Tina😍
Thank youuuu🙏
Thank you so much
Very helpful 🙏
thank you!
You're welcome🙌
Loved the video, Thank you! What do you recommend us vlogging about to give ourselves feedback? I know you mentioned reading out loud, is there anything else that you've vlogged yourself doing that has helped?
Really it's amazing video.
Than you
Tomorow i will start vlog
I am all in. 5 mins reading low everyday. Maybe more
wondering if you have any book recommendation?
This was such a helpful video! Thanks Tina! Just curious, I know that there is no definitive standard for the FAS test but I'm interested to know what you would consider to be a decent score range? Cheers :)
it seems the mean for young adults is 15 each or 45 total
How do you vblog?
6:28
First and only F word comes to my brain is FUCK 🤦🏽♂️
I almost cried happy tears seeing this video, I am exactly the person you talk about. I am an entrepreneur with social anxiety, living in an country that barely speaks English and trying to learn that language, while Enlish isn't my native tongue too, while being so shy and anxious is sometimes a bit too much for me. I found your channel thank god and I will try to do your excerises now daily in English and the language I am learning now and vlog myself doing so. Thank you so much, you don't even know how much your sharing your expertise means to me.
This makes me SO HAPPY to read. I get what it's like to have social anxiety / shy AND a language barrier at the same time.
Just know, YOU SERIOUSLY GOT THIS!!🔥🔥🔥
I can relate to this post so much, kudos to you for your hard work.
2 years later, curious to hear if these exercises were of help to you? :)
my verbal fluency was so low (14) since the pandemic my brain fog has gotten a lot worse. I have ADHD and a medical disability that makes it difficult to focus and think clearly. Covid has really exasperated it. It's starting to cause a lot of problems in my relationships and work. I'm glad I found your channel.
Sorry to hear about your hardships, especially during this time. I'm glad I could be helpful in some small way.❤
Same
Try not masterbaiting if u are doing ofcoarse
Hey, how are you now on the F-A-S test? I'm in the same situation as you.
So similar. I am determined to improve, although it is very intimidating. One thing I've done (for far too long now) is use a thc vape, and I have noticed severe brain fog and a lowered overall verbal fluency, among other side effects. Always felt that form of escape HELPED me with my ailments and social anxiety (esp after covid), but now I see how wrong I was and am trying my best to ditch the habit with the hopes that this journey will come a bit easier for me. Thanks for sharing your truth- it helps others, like myself.
OMG the politics part is so TRUE. The universe led me to your channel for a reason through UA-cam recommendation. I've been struggling with speech issues for YEARS. So many humiliating, unfair and painfull situations I've been through, just because I couldn't think of what to say at the time when I actually needed to say. Thankyou, I'll definitely use your techniques.
Glad you found my channel! Let's go UA-cam recommendations!
Repetition is the mother of skill! At least you're honest about coaching and I think it just proves that you care about your viewership!!
I’ve been looking for YOU! This is exactly what my problem is! I have actually started my channel for that exact reason - my lack of fluency and articulation. Now I have to back track and do the first two levels! 😆 thank you so much! Xx
We always return to the basics even if you learning a higher level of education. we tend to remember more when its fun or interesting to the mind. like learning spanish with music haha fun. practicing that skill to go from level 1 to 5 but its a slow process
No offense but…
legislature is pronounced
leh-juh-slay-chr
Thx again for the great video 👍🏼
So why choose F A S?
Great tips and very timely. I'm reading a lot of books these days.
Great to hear from a fellow book worm like me Jack!📚
This is super helpful! I can already feel the improvement!
Haha good to hear Vikas👌
I sorta know all these I should do...but when I record myself, I keep noticing eww I’m so ugly 😆
I’m so grateful I found your channel. I’ve been working on my communication skills and public speaking. Thank you and god bless you lady Tina
So only 2 options since vlogging isn’t possible for everyone due to privacy reasons. Any 3rd idea that applies to everyone???
Great video! Also, you read “legislature” correctly the first time ☺️😉👌🏼
Amazing! Keen to start doing this in my daily routine! Also one thing that I’m going to start doing is my own solo personal podcasts?! Will get me better at conversations as in the podcasts have to talk for long periods with no pauses ect! English is my first language but I’ve never been a good speaker so I’m keen to improve
Passing legislator seems gramatically incorrect. Passing statue legislature would be the correct phrasing, not sure if this was truly written in the book.
i was so glad you didnt get your word correct until after a few tries. that trips me up more and more. my neurologist told me to read outloud. weird to find so many difficult words, plus they need to proofread better. lol
Is there’s a reason you didn’t mention Russell Brand in any of your videos?) I think he is the esssnce of human confidence and verbal fluency.)
I agree! Always wanted to do a video on him, I've been a long time fan of his.
@@TinaLeder Will you do it then?
Thanks! Will be working on all three exercises. I'm excited to see where I am in a couple of months. 😀
Let us know!
Update??
What the what........................................is she beautiful or is it her verbal-ability that is. It cannot be both because she is a woman.
Could I memories fan words more everyday basis and than say for one minute each or just say with our practice
Hello Tina, I found this to be really helpful, I can’t wait to start practicing. Ive always had trouble focusing at what i do and it the worst when I try to speak. My brain just blanks out. Question - how do you know when to move on drom FAS to other letters? Why FAS and what other letters should I do?
Great stuff! No one else seems to be mentioning it, so I guess I should: it’s legisla”chure.” You had it right the first time. A legislator is the person who works in the legislature (pronounced “chure”).✌️
Yes, spelled “legislature,” and pronounced as above :)
Yes, legislator is one person, whereas legislature is the whole; all of the legislators together voting on a topic. 😊
This channel made my day. Thanks for making these videos. I’m going to try to read aloud more too
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the tips, Tina! I'm trying to make better videos, like yours! You got it right the first time , Legislature (chur).
As English is not my first language, I sometimes can't access a word in either language and get stuck...do you have any specific tips for people who switch between languages a lot?
As to not overwhelm, you can train one language at a time. Please note my Verbal Fluency videos are based on what's proven to work through English speaking (although you may see improvement in other languages without practicing other languages as it has for me with Japanese).
@@TinaLeder Great tips, I'll definitely start with the FAS exercises and reading out load to my kids helps too 👍
Oh boy... I have to start a vlog 😨
What I've been searching for🙂
Thanks Tina,I dream to do game play and commentate , keep up the good work.
Can you make a vid about how to commentate?
Very interesting. That's definitely not my normal type of content I'd "teach", but perhaps in the future yes!
I have to do this when I'm off work. This is vital!!
Absolutely awesome content from Lady Tina once again! This is going to be so useful for me! Thank you!!!
Much appreciated Ian! Keep us updated.😎
Thanks!
I was that kid that read the chapter before the class got to it, so I was prepped for how to pronounce everything by the time it was my time to read. Even so, when Im speaking on my own accord, Im probably the cringiest person around. I could name off a lot of things I lack;
slow timing and terribly long pauses, constant use of filler words, bad posture, bad body language, lack of facial expression, lack of inflections leading to a monotone feel, little warmth or emotion, disjointed speech, non-interesting/unattractive vocal tone, lack of humor, repeating self for emphasis way too much, SEVERE lack of confidence in myself and my presentation, lack of planning, constant loss of words/forgetfulness, going around and around in a topic without a good reason to, lack of context/explanation [i think so, anyway?], voice volume is TERRIBLE and inconsistent, lack of self-trust to go into an unconscious stream of consciousness, lack of charm and demanding attitude that people listen to me, lack of detail, boring story, generally CRINGEY presentation. I have a lackluster of character in my speech abilities.
Im like the posterchild for speech illiteracy. oof. I just generally lack any presence at all when speech comes into play for me [if Im lucky].
I think my best bet is to convince myself Im not ridiculously annoying as people made me feel so often in the past but I dont know how to even start with that journey.
Im starting to understand why people have a tendency to dislike and oftentimes avoid me.
I dont believe Im dumb, and my reading comprehension, intuitive abilities, and creativity are quite good, but articulation is a definite struggle for me.
I can relate in so many ways. Especially the ridicule of others and lack of confidence to present myself especially verbally.
If it wasn't for someone believing in me / being kind in this particular area and me believing I can improve, I wouldn't be where I am. I'll tell you this much, it's rarely ever as bad as you think, especially if your conscious (which it seems like you are), then it's just a skill gap that can be learned and therefore achievable.
This might be a silly question, but when vlogging do you just talk about a random topic for as long as possible?
That's a great way to do it, yes.👌
I have a question . Let’s say someone actually does the FAS strategy and successfully gets a very high score in those tests . Will their verbal influence temporary or permanent
Verbal fluency is a brain functioning exercise. So think of it like a muscle, it can be gained or lost.
@@TinaLeder also , having a low score doesn’t mean you have mental problems . Maybe it could be a cultural thing like using your hands instead to talk . Which decreases the amount of vocabulary you know which gives you a low score in verbal fluency FAS test . Is that statement valid or invalid ?
this is exactly what i need to do for self improvement during quarantine ! thank you.
Glad you found it!
I hated reading books. I preferred audio books because I couldn’t focus on what I was reading. After watching your videos, I’ll be reading more books now to improve my verbal fluency.
I typically do audibles myself on my reading activities, so I get it.
Sometimes I even read emails or blog articles out loud just to squeeze some practice in!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
what about making a podcast instead of a vlogs ..is it the same? thank you for your great advices.
How long have you been learning English?
I will watch your videos attentively. I really need help to improve fluency.
What is your first language please? You are so fluent and well spoken!!
Definitely need to try some of your tips, but reading out loud is definitely my thing, I always do it!!
I literally started reading 📖 Michelle Obama book yesterday 😄 with you in mind.
You have good taste in books. ;)
I also did an analysis video on Michelle's communication style if you're interested. :)
ua-cam.com/video/VPHmf8NFnwo/v-deo.html
Great tips, Tina! Thanks a lot! Originally this was the reason I started my UA-cam channel. Not vlogs though because of security reasons. However, I found a simple corner to start recording and deliver my message :)
Where is that corner? I would like to do the same
I wanna be fluent in making the @the_glam_spice
The main takeaways from this video:
1. Make sure your practicing the FAS test daily to get better. She gives an example of a follower that complains about not getting results in 3 days.
2. Reading out loud to learn new words.
3. Start recording yourself(vlogging) to catch the nuances in your speech.
I’m so glad this video was recommended. I will continue to practice. Such a great channel! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
You say I have to go see a doctor if I don't get more than 18 words well hell
Cool
Cool
Thank you
I'm from Indonesia and also not a native speaker. Through this video, I'm getting into motivated because those solutions are matching with my condition. It's very very helpfull for me... Thank you very Much Miss Tina.....😍
You're very welcome, glad it was helpful!
I'm doing a LIVE webinar with Q&A May 30th in case you're curious to join me: py.pl/CAE1F
Either way, keep at it, it's helped my confidence in speaking English (Japanese was my native language).
I'm from Indonesia too and thank you Tina for helping!
Omg I found you. Finally
You helped me thanks
Should you help yourself with a dictionary before the ads exercise or is this cheating...
How I can speak. The word “ challenged “ such as a native. This word is madly hard to me to speak. It’s a disaster ! Please, can I have your help. Thanks!

I am trying to apply these tips to German! :)) If your Workshop was in German I would certainly buy it.
Hi Tina, is there a specific reason for doing words with F, A & S why not other letters?
Thank you so much. Love❤ from karbi Anglong
Why do you think people struggle in verbal fluency? I did t have this problem before but the last couple of years, I noticed it
I read alot but in my head, reading out loud is too slow
I am a second language speaker and my scores are below 18. I am great at writing but it is hard for me to come up with words verbally.
ok
@@OctavianNovacP- ok what 😊
I would add to this - memorizing lines or lyrics and recalling them
I did not waste my time with this. Thank you for your practical advice. Very helpful
Legislator! Yes, now I will remember that word as well! 😅 your channel is awesome thanks!
I made my first 10 minute blog which I want to make part of a daily 10 minute blog I want to do. Wish me luck !
That's incredible, good luck!
Is this also for people with English as a second language?
Is the word in the book at 3:45 Legislator or Legislature?
Tongue twisters have helped me quite well!
Thank you for great tips
Lady Tina,
This is a precious advice to delivered to us , I swear. I was questioning myself numerous time why I have struggling with my verbal fluency. I just got u accidentally, I wish if I saw you a year ago, what so ever am so grateful to get you!
My year long question at least got answers.
As per language expert telling, if some one knows 10000 words , able to communicate flow less with out stuck there to find the word, I believe I know more than that ,but why am struggling, here you go u some my problem.
By the way my score is too bad ,but I will follow ur tip , to get where I want.
God bless you ! I can’t tell it enough
Hi.. i'm so interested with your videos but would you please to add English subtitle? Thanks.
I have a problem with my accent. Because english is my 3rd language, the accent of my native language is quite hard and heavy. The tone of my voice while speaking were like you're dropping big rock on the ground. How can i fix this?
Practice with a model like a celebrity whom you like their accent. Channel that celebrity and your muscle memory should work to help you do the accent when you speak.
I'm so happy I came across your channel 😭😭
Huh...I didn't understand this at all
