Hello from Seattle! Interviewing with TikTok next week for an Android Software Engineer, Global E-commerce role 📲💼 Your videos have been invaluable. Big thanks! 🙏🎊
It's refreshing to see an actual day in the life video of a job where the person is actually working and not going around doing other things while they are supposed to be working. Can't tell you how many times I see someone post a day in the life of (insert job title) and they literally do less then 2 hours of work all day. I get some people can get away with it but it's not reality for most. He seems like a great worker, but it looks like he put in a lot of effort and time into his projects. I hope he gets some time to relax too.
I appreciate the feedback, yea I tried to make it as detailed as possible with what an actual software engineer at a big tech company works on day-to-day. These videos are my relaxation :)
These kind of videos keep getting recommended and I can't keep myself from clicking on them. I'm happy that I do because I'm getting more interested in coding myself, I'm looking forward to the video(s) you are going to make on becoming a software engineer!
Loving these in-depth videos, they’re really helpful. Can’t wait for the new video so I can improve on my skills to hopefully get better at the interviews and a better software engineer!
These videos are so great because of the professional insight you’re so open to offer and talk about so I really appreciate them. I’m not a fast reader and if the words could stay on the screen a little longer I would love that, but I would also love to see a video where you talk about the goal-setting frameworks you’ve learned and implemented in your career thus far! Thanks again for these video, I really love them!
Thanks for such high quality content. You are yourself and that's a plus for sure. Currently learning UML diagrams and other technologies. You're inspiring. I would like to know some of the best ways I can improve my learning and become a better developer, apart from building projects, what are some of the daily things you did that took you where you are today. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and learning as well. Asking from the Congo. Thanks
appreciate you Fadhil, I plan on making videos that give some general career advice/insights and hope those will help you in the future, wishing you the best from Congo :)
appreciate it Jaime, our office locations are open to all employees and I have colleagues based in different offices, so it's easier to collaborate with them at their specific office. I mainly work from seattle/san jose offices though, since that's where our engineering team in u.s. is based.
If you don’t mind me asking, what was ur gpa and what clubs and extracurriculars did you do in high school? Also, did you do APs in high school? I’m a rising sophomore in Michigan and I have visited Austin last summer. I’m really want to go there after I finish university at hopefully UMich. Do you have any tips for high school? My dream job is working a software engineer too!
yea I plan on making a video about my background, but long-story-short yes, I would say just build useful projects for yourself with code and you'll be well on your way :)
I would say it depends on what time you start your day, but it definitely can go past with late meetings/busy weeks, it's usually up to the person on how they manage their tasks.
Super interested in becoming a Software Engineer. Thanks for the vid's man. Looks like an awesome, fulfilling career! Are you self taught? Or did you go to school for it?
Love your videos man❤️🫡 I was wondering how you got your start in Software Engineering? If you could make a video about if this was your dream career or if you went to College/Bootcamp? 😄🎉🎉😄
Mr I would like to work with technology,I'm an African and I want to travel to the USA a day and work there,so your videos are a motivation for me, keep on bro😭💪🏾
Hey Arman! Are you constantly moving to different states or you’re permanently based in Seattle at the moment? And you should make an “introductory/who you are video” and how you got to where you are now! :)
Great video as always. ☺️ I have one stupid question but is it always that empty at the office? I wish I had such a modern work environment but I would kinda miss colleagues to hang out with during breaks or to talk to if I have question. 🙈😅
no it was actually relatively filled, I just didn't show anyone and picked a spot where not many people were sitting :). But yea I definitely met up with a few coworkers who work in Austin during breaks etc.
@@armankhondker ok yeah that makes sense. I would have done the same when filming. 😅 Glad there are people around especially if you have such a stunning office 😃

Not saying we should all go back to the office but just makes ya think.

Thinking of making a career change. But the constant upskilling makes it less appealing to me. How do you manage that while working at a big tech? Loving the videos, by the way. Keep it up!
I enjoy constantly learning so it comes naturally to me, and if you are working on a team/product that is exciting I don't think that's an issue, appreciate you ♥️
yea I have a logitech mx keys mini and magic trackpad at my at home desk setup :). I prefer to keep my tech as minimal as possible so I dont use any cases
I am a Newbee for joining TikTok, I really enjoy your video, and brush up for many times, just got a question that can you really get the WLB in TikTok?
WLB at TikTok is tricky but definitely possible with certain tactics and some luck, I will be making a video going more in depth on the work dynamics. congrats on joining, wishing you the best :)
dam 9am to 7:30 pm? thats your whole day man , why so many hours? i could not do that, i hardly put in 8 hours at my job, as long as my tasks are getting done no one tracks our actual hours.
I really enjoy your day in the life videos! Keep it up man!
appreciate you ♥️
"I picked a desk on an empty floor to avoid people"
As someone who also works in the IT space, I felt this with every cell of my body.

In tiktok in China, it is early to get off work at 7 o'clock, usually from 10 o'clock to 11 o'clock
agreed I often work with colleagues based in China, it's different work culture/expectations in the u.s.
Cant wait for that video! Love ur content
appreciate you, it's coming relatively soon!
strange that the Seattle office gets free food but the Austin one doesn't. I'd have thought the company as a whole would share the same processes
haha yea it's annoying, I think it's because this office is a much smaller one and it's a main hub for us like seattle/san jose.
sheesh that empty office is nice to have
yea if you know how to avoid people any office can be empty :)
Love the different offices you always show us
haha of course more to come, thank you ♥️

love your videos!! just curious, do you work in all tiktok offices?
I've been to a good amount in u.s., but the goal is to go to all of them :). next, I want to go to our LA office.
Q: Why are you in Austin? do you get to travel frequently for your job?
because I travel often for my job and because I am from texas :)
Jusrt started watching you videos. Did you move every month? lol You have like 4 different cities for your day in the life vids
haha na I am just on work trips to the different offices, I am based in Seattle and work mainly from there :)
Make on video about your coding journey

Thank you brother 💖
Nice video, I would really like you to upload more videos.

Question: what if those open source libraries get new updates and don’t work with the rest of the code anymore?
Omg I’m at the Austin office too! Maybe I’ll see ya around! 🎉
im back in seattle now, but next time I'm in texas yes :)
