- A Royal Artillery battery has re-formed after eight years in a special ceremony, with the unit taking on a brand new role ahead of its first deployment.
137 (Java) Battery, 12th Regiment Royal Artillery, known as the Jumbos, was welcomed back on the parade square at Baker Barracks on Thorney Island, West Sussex, with family, friends and veterans all present.
The welcome-back party is not set to last long, however, as the Jumbos will soon be heading to Estonia.

As a 9 Plassey Bty Veteran (1990-2003) its great to see the Regimental colours improving and being deployed across Europe. Good luck Brothers and Sisters
As a veteran of the Battle of Plassey I’ve been very disappointed in the modern British army
HVM - Starstreak
LMM - Martlet
Both good missiles but would be nice to have something with some 30mm, if nothing else then as backup for against ground forces.
Ukraine has shown that cheap strike drones can be launched by undercover units and play havock against civillian infrastructure, industrial and military targets.
There is still a role for SPAAG systems like Gepard in home defence.
War Thunder: Nope never happened aint no LMN
Many Batteries should NOT have been put in suspended animation.
Good for them, hope 17 Corunna Bty have the same good luck.
Its an era of troubled times, this is more important that the Cold War, get the H.M. Forces up to strength.
Love stormer, vitally important for taking control of the skies!
Great..... another step forward in the UK Army strategic plan.... Very impressive.....Roger.... Pembrokeshire
I remember 137 being part of 40 field regt
Good luck lads
CVR(T) family lives on.
Best wishes
The army today keeps reshuffling equipment and passing it off as new.
The fact Artillery units are taking on SHORAD roles (with the CVRT no less) only speaks to the fact we have no SPG's left.
One thing that is severely lacking though (there is an argument this also applies to most of our key kit mind you) is proper AA. Sky Sabre is a posative step, but we still lack true long range AA and no cheap SHORAD.
Starstreak and martlet are great for high end threats like helicopters, but are expensive overkill against cheap drones.
Good news! But what is that march being played in the beginning? It's neither The voice of the guns or The Duchess of Kent. It sounds quite familiar, I might even have played it with my wind band in Sweden. =)
Bravo 👏
Stormer looks like a Scorpion variant.
Pip Pip!!
Great news!
UBIQUE
We just need an army now.
Estonia gives a hell of a lot.
Didn’t realise Chris Packham is a cloud puncher 0.58
👍👍👍
Some good news in the wake of reducing army size
good for short range anti air/anti drone maybe with enough could destroy a drone swarm too?, we need better anti air in my opinion, specifically long range anti air that can reliably hit ballistic missiles and incoming bombers, were good on pretty much everything else except maybe navy these days
These have obviously worked in Ukraine !
what chassis is it???
Lasers are coming for cheaper drone defence and jamming signals. I expect drone on drone capability from the Ukraine battlefield experience. More like a video game for future soldiers.
22 regt RA 🤔
How much does one stormer cost?
hmmm
Why was almost the whole regiment missing ? Usually far more people for a "regiment"
Reformed ? Understaffed is what this video says to the Russians.
Oh honestly
It is a reformed battery - not a regiment
Aitch…not Haitch. Does no one brief people?
Nobody cares
@@lachlanchester8142 correct. Just a stupid inarticulate squddie.
Tanks must be great fun to drive unless you go to war with the life expectancy on the battlefield of 20 mins.
Hardly.

@@Chilly_Billy What do you recon a few hours?
@@grahamthebaronhesketh.BAOR life expectancy was 7 minutes, think it’s a bit better now if you have air superiority 😅
@@SvenTheSveed But if you dont?
Another junker built to low standards from the. British. Little to no armour makes this a very disposable and vulnerable platform. The fact it has no reactive armour says it all.
It's not a tank, it's a self propelled SAM launcher
It's not a tank mate
It's not a tank... it's not intended to take anything beyond shell fragments and small arms fire. Even then only as a last resort.
Does it have any radar? Air defence without radar is absurd. Does the UK have any medium to long range air defence thats not ship based?
With radar you tell everyone where you are
German engineering at it's best.
What? HVM made in Belfast...eeejit
