I think you meant the Puma which is only 50% made by Rheinmetall. Claimed to have the best protection, the best technology and in a very transportable package. Yet it uses electronics on par with your dad's PS2, has black&white screens, poor situational awareness thanks to its all-camera system and early gen unmanned turret and even after a decade it is still riddled with bugs to fix.
@@willyvereb I don't know, it's hard to say from the video if it's the Puma or the Lynx. Still I agree that the Puma is riddled with problems. Not as much as the A.S.C.O.D. AJAX, but close. I think that the black and white screen were chosen because they are more durable in general and that the turret is a disaster, like it keeps jamming frequently. Now the German army wants to restart: make it so it holds a full squad, has a bigger cannon, active protection system, etc. At the same time they will have to upgrade theyr marder fleet as a stop gap measure. All this will end up doubling the budget and time required for the Puma, and most of this would have been solved if the German army just adopted the Lynx... What a genius move
@@willyvereb For German standards the Puma in 2000s becomes already obsolet for the modern war scenario. So Germans planned to build the Lynx using the technology of the Puma and the Boxer for eliminated the defects of the Puma. But the lynx is only for export market now because the Germans are busy with the French in the Main ground Combat System (MGCS) project.
@@CriscCiaddu Eh, I can see Rheinmetall using that to gain extra funds for the project but it's really more of "let's make something out of parts that is known to work". A fallback plan for the Puma's failure. In terms of concept the Lynx is a step back from the Puma. The thing is just that the Puma was built almost a decade ago and thought up even earlier so a lot of technology inside the vehicle is outdated. So I predict a long and costly upgrade process for the Puma which may result in replacing most of the vehicle with Rheinmetall parts.
People don't realize these videos aren't necessarily for buyers, but are also for prospective employees who see this and realize they want to work on systems like this and so they apply for a job.
But can it's armour stop a RPG or IED? Will it need to be upgraded like other IFVs and will that push it over it's limits i'e' will it be to wide for train or to heavy for air?
There is no vehicle that can survive an IED. I've seen people die from IED's in a Leopard 2 (or rather the remains of a Leo2 someone got killed in), if the IED isn't big enough they just put more explosives in it. It's also no longer part of the current threats.

Ammo capacity vs range/firepower. It really depends on the doctrine and mission. In Norway we chose 30mm Bushmaster, but I know the Swedes got the 40mm guns. It was quite a sight to see them parked next to each other.
The deciding factors is politics & money , from a military perspective you want the smallest gun that has good effect on target , because then you can carry the more ammo and sustain more before having to turn around and restock ammo , thus you have to predict your future potential enemy. If your up against other IFV you want the bigger guns and if faced with hostile Toyota's you can have anything bigger then a AK-47 and still win. in Norway's case they had stockpiles for 30 mm ammo so decided to 'downgrade' from 40 mm , so its also a case of what do you already have stockpiled to keep costs down. Lesser caliber usually translate to more ammo and vice versa.
Also, if you have americans with tons of Bradleys on the same international mission, having the same caliber as them on your gun, means they can give yuo their ammo and let your superior wehicle do their job without moving their hangar-queen out of the parking lot and wrecking it....(cough Afghanistan).
Well I can promise you that snow mobility is second to none. I was stationed where they did extensive testing on the first version and it has improved since then and it is equal or better than a snowmobile.
I have been a CV90-35NL commander for years since they entered service. I have seen the upgrade for this model to come as close to this Mk4. One question... Where the F... do does the backpack going, that of the crew and the infantery... It is funny to have a ATGM and other gatgets... Who is gonna aim that thing what is taking up 'backpack-space'? Back in the day, I have send in an idea to give the commander an GPMG (FN MAG) and a mount for a PzF AT rocket launcher. Because, the way we fought with the CV90, we were too fast to use a IFV as a tank would 'saw' from position to hide. And the PzF on the mount would be just for the flash seconde. The infantery would do the tank hunting. That is why we were so fast... And when we located a tank, the infantery would kill it. Now we have crap all over the turret and everything is doomed to fail, and computers need their 20th reset for the day... Just give the commander its cupola with a MG and PzF. I think that would be simpel enough to work. Even by hand. But yeah... I send in 4 good idea's in, to improve the CV90-35NL in easy, mostly cheap, way's. Even safety stuff was among them... Never heard anything. That would probably be too good to be true I think.
In the lighter Swedish A & B-versions of the 9040 there was compartments for crew backpacks under hatches rear left of the turret. All other gear (for infantry) was carried by tracked non armoured vehicles (Bandvagn 206).
They don’t listen to the men who use them every day and know the vehicles inside and out marking all these vehicle to complicated if this stuff brakes I can’t be fixed without Civilian contractors out on the ground
The CV90MKIV is meant as an export vehicle for countries with specific doctrines. The military you served probably relied on infantry as tank-killers. But some countries would like to have extra fire power with the new ATGM because it can help them reduce the cost of adding additional MBT to the armored unit.

Even the ATGM with the camera guidance 6:24 is an Israeli weapon system. Vehicles of this capacity cannot be made by a Nation alone anymore. Germany is currently trying it with the Puma, but we all know how this is going. It's a way to expensive weapon suite that had so far 3 iterations before going into service. Currently, even this vehicle with his 25 in service is using the before mentioned Israeli ATGM for now (There are actually tests with an inhouse variant that has IFF capabilities). So, eugene stoner made effectively, a large machine gun to kill tanks. Called the aries xm274
That was a very cool tech for its time mounting on the also very cool looking hstvl and himag
The sure exterminator is the 105mm guide munition that the BMP fires from a gyrostabilized turret main gun, with twice the distance of the TOW, while on the move and with a profile half the height of all these rolling barns.
@@MrSlavikman at least these barns have BILLs and SPIKES, not TOWs fyi. And they got more than enough survivability with that engine in the front and armor to resist actual 12.7s while the bmp is not 12.7 rated

I really like the camouflage scheme - but I'm not sure I can afford one
I love how this video kept trowing little shades at the rheinmetall Lynx
@@revolverDOOMGUY Puma problems are a closed chapter. Ajax problems - I don't think they opened it entirely.
What a beauty. Sincerely hope it wins Czech army tender for new IFV(up against Lynx KF41 and ASCOD42)
The lynx is better.
Im sure we gonna make the best out of it!!! Big gratitude from Ukraine!!!
Why the hell is the MoD bothering with the Ajax/Ascod?
Great, very informative vid. Perfect delivery of information. Thank you.
Is it available in Warstock Cache & Carry? i might be interested
But can it's armour stop a RPG or IED?
Will it need to be upgraded like other IFVs and will that push it over it's limits i'e' will it be to wide for train or to heavy for air?
Well, look the video, and all your questions gets answered.
There is no vehicle that can survive an IED. I've seen people die from IED's in a Leopard 2 (or rather the remains of a Leo2 someone got killed in), if the IED isn't big enough they just put more explosives in it. It's also no longer part of the current threats.

I had no idea Ukraina stretches from the Caucasus to Scandinavia. I hope BAE weapon systems are better than the map from 2:36
Map is from an old board game called RISK , so not a product made by BAE.
Even though the game is 40 years old , I can still recomend it :)
Whats the benefits choosing 30, 40 or a 50mm Autocannon as a main weapon? What makes the decision between choosing one of instead one of the other
Ammo capacity vs range/firepower.
Lets hope Canada picks this one for infantry fighting vehicule
Well I can promise you that snow mobility is second to none. I was stationed where they did extensive testing on the first version and it has improved since then and it is equal or better than a snowmobile.
When can we see more about the 50 mm version!?
I think your suggestions ended up in some durch army bureaucrats file archive without ever reaching someone who'd understand the suggestions...

Swedish Quality 👌🏻
Don't want to ruin your spirit here, but BAE systems isn't Swedish. Far from it, actually. All Sweden (and other interest groups) is providing is a concept on what you wish in an update.
@@mad_villain8580 BAE Systems is british but the subsidiary, BAE Systems Hägglunds, the company developing the CV90 was made in Sweden.
@@swedi3571 There is a section where the same discussion came up where I explained my point further.
BAE Hägglunds might be Swedish but I dought that they will devolop already existing systems again just to say its Swedish. Things like Battlemanagementsystems, Firecontrolsystems, Active Protection Systems, Fire Prevention Systems are most likely licensed by BAE itself and lent/ purchased by Hägglunds to reduce coast. Getting to a point. It's a European product and that's fine. You can be proud of it.
Swedish quality is the 40mm cannon and its ammunition. BOFORS did an excellent job on that.
@@mad_villain8580 BAE Systems bought Hägglunds because of their expertise to make these kind of vechiles.

Is there an option for a coaxial or an OHW mounted machinegun?
It has a 7.62 coax, yes.
Swedish early versions (base 9040, A, & B) have been running coax KSP39 (~Browning M1919 from the 40ies) and newer versions have KSP58 (FN MAG) mounted on top (unsure of the coax capabilities there).
There is also the on-top remote-operated weapon-station.
