  • yes he's obsessed with racks! Mindburner needs a life
    I honestly don't work for these people, it's just the synths are taking over

    1:50 Your Moog Source looks a whole lot like a Moog Rogue. 😄 Sorry, couldn't help taking a jab. We all knew what you meant. Thanks for the rack tour.

    Cheers for this video about the Jasper stands (and the previous one). I was thinking about getting a 4-tier like the two you have. Is it comfortable for you to sit and play synths on the bottom two racks then stand and play the synths on the top two?

      hi yes it's definitely do-able on the bottom keyboards. I generally have the lower ones MIDI's so I cheat a bit. I also have synths on a wooden bench below my 4 way and I can even play that with a bit of up 'n' down. The stands are very solid as long as the hex bolts securing the keyboards are nice and tight. cheers and appreciate the comment

    Heya :)
    How stable is the Mirage on there? I’m thinking of getting a Jaspers 6 tier but I was a bit concerned because the Mirage is so heavy.

    The Jaspers are fantastic quality, not cheap but as with most things you get what you pay for.
    I have 3 x 7 tier, yes seven!
    I think one strengthening bar would have sufficed but I added two just in case.

      nice to meet another fan. Yes I do love them. I nearly didn't tighten the supports and one of the keyboards nearly did a backflip but caught it just in time. Lesson learned

    I have to show my wife this video so she sees how little I have, you know, in comparison. I just bought a Jasper rack today, and now I have a bit of a wait for it to reach Canada. Looking forward to the extra space.

      I have resorted to smuggling them in and lying about the cost. Hope you enjoy the rack, and the next one you just 'might' buy

    I love them! I just got a six tier A-frame and it freed up so much space in my studio compared to my other stands. The downside is that they don't have a North American distributor, so with shipping, duty, etc. into Canada they end up being about $850 CAD for a bloody synth stand!

    Great video! What latency do you get with that dual Behringer ADA8200 going into the Digiface? I suppose 24bit 48kHz is the maximum sample rate you can get, is that right? Thank you. I'm thinking of a similar setup, going from ADA8200 into a Presonus Quantum 2626

    • @waheex
      @waheex  3 роки тому +1

      hi you know I haven't measured the latency of the ADAT but it has been satisfactory. I use mostly analogue played back into a DAW. A lot of the time I effectively sample the synths and play live. It's just a way of working I have developed as it adds a nice early post punk randomness to the minimal synth tracks I usually do.
      I think for the price the Behringer is excellent. It's just a front end for me and I think the Fireface interface does most of the heavy lifting. SO I can usually get 128 samples on all 4 channels of ADAT. Maybe better but it's usually good enough.

      @@waheex Thank you very much for the answer I was hoping for. 128 samples is good.

    Damn, what is your favorite synth in your studio?

    • @waheex
      @waheex  3 роки тому

      that's a hard one, but I think the Moog Source would be high up the list. It's basic but has a powerful sound and the filter with the data wheel is just great. Plus I lobe the look of it. The AX80 is a great synth also for a poly. The OScar is such a rare synth, it's got a great sound and look too.

    You should join the OSCar owners mailing list. Bob Grieb from Tauntek has made a new MIDI board which optionally includes a modern reset IC, which should fix the boot problems. That board only works with his version of the firmware, but that includes a few bugfixes and some extra new features.
    If you don't want that, you can probably just replace the old reset circuit with one of those IC's (they have transistor packaging, so you should be able to squeeze them in).
    I'll send the link in a separate comment, so this doesn't end up in the spam queue. :-)

      I changed all the components in the original reset circuit, like resistors and IC's but no real change. It was a little better, but still the scrambled RAM.

      @RegebroRepairs 3 роки тому

      @@waheex Oh, the RAM gets scrambled... that sounds like it's a problem with the backup battery... The battery voltage maybe doesn't get all the way to the RAM?
