Perlman is the ultimate master of the unbroken phrase line.
Well put
Listen Kogan, come back and tell me something
whenever I want to hear the best version of any violin piece I listen to Perlman.
Sarah DuBois sane
Yes 👍🏅⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💎
It’s so incredibly true... he has recorded basically every piece of violin repertoire there is, and his recording is the best for every single piece.. the greatest violinist of his generation and it’s not even close
Me too
Well said
His bow strokes are like figure skaters gliding over the ice. Such a sweet, rich, deep sound; absolutely sublime!
2nd movement: 8:55
3rd movement: 16:56
Thanks a lot! 😄
And the first?
@@Richie157 the first movement starts at the beginning so there’s no point in adding a time stamp for it
@@ILikeBirdsThe first movement is actually not on the level of the two latter movements, both of which are incredibly beautiful, practically equal in that respect to those of Brahms.
16:56 third movement begins.
The combination of Bruch and Perlman - outstanding!
Lena Svensson Webb with Perlman everything is outstanding 😍
My all time favourite violin concerto. I used to have a cassette tape recording played by the great David Oistrakh and on the other side was Bach’s double violin concerto. No need to say was it was always playing in my room.
Itzhak Perlman plays as if he can hear something us mere mortals can’t.
He makes it look so effortless. Beautiful sound, nothing compares to Perlman. He has a funny way of sticking his finger out when vibrato, which I also have a habit of doing. lol
This is one of Perlman’s finest performances. It’s one of the best I’ve ever heard. He’s in tip top form and every note is played meaningfully and lovingly. Perlman is in his element playing the romantic violin concerti of the 19th century.
Absolutely correct, every note has meaning!
Perlman is no doubt the greatest violinist of his time.. he’s the best also at playing Bach, Mozart, Beethoven etc 😂
Always manage to find this alex guy writing paragraphs lol

정말 맞습니다..
펄만씨 플레이가,
단연 압도적 입니다..
괜히 대가라 부르지 않죠....
You can see how much Perlman loves the music he plays.
It's as if the violin were part of him!!!
Rebecca de Broglie his legs failed him so he’s making it up with violin
His notes sound so smooth. Definitely my favourite violinist.
Rebecca de Broglie yeah sounds great

I don't know how he does it; every time I watch him Perlman amazes me. Those large hands that somehow hit every note perfectly and bring so much color and life to the music.
One of the Most Beautiful and enchanting violin pieces of all time!
I'm sure I'm not the only one who "liked" this before hitting play. It was enough to see who the soloist is.
Perlman is the greatest interpreter since Mr. Jascha Heifetz died, and the honor has been well taken care of.
No doubt he’s the second greatest of all time after heifetz among those who we can listen to
HELL NAH
@andresxavier3849 Bro you on weed or smtg? What about Oistrakh, Shering, Tetryakov, Vengerov, Kogan, Eduard Grach, Janine Jansen, Igor Oistrakh, Hillary Hann, Albert Markov, Zukerman, Menuhin, Ivry Gitlis, Isaac Steern, etc. WTF, no idea about music, listen more people.

Itzhak Perlman is so into this Violin Concerto No. 1; as he plays it so naturally. I just love this Violin Concerto No. 1. And, why not listen to Itzhak Perlman play it. Itzhak Perlman is so gifted. 彼が演奏する音楽はすべて主からのものです。彼は本当に美しい贈り物を持っています。
Amen
This concerto is one of my guilty pleasures. Bruch was not on the level of Beethoven and Brahms, but this is my favorite violin concerto.
Bruch was not prolific like Beethoven & Brahms but when he sat down to write THIS work, he was as ingenious as any great composer you can name. This is utterly brilliant. Several composers were one-work demigods who gave us something NO ONE ELSE had done. I try not to compare composers. They are precious precious people and I'm addicted to them all..
Maestro Akiyama really brought out elements of this concerto I'd never heard before - well done!
Mr. Perlman has always been, and will always be a great source of inspiration.
Inspiration and motivation
@@franekpolkowski7366 right on!
Despite the bad audio quality, Perlman's rendition is so superior to anyone I can find.
i love perlman's bruch and mendelsson concertos equally. just beautiful ❤️
That orchestra tutti✨😍
Everytime Perlman plays I get touched; there's something very genuine about his playing
You couldn't have said it better, to my mind he's the best living violinist... one of the best violinist in the history of music !
I can tell you the exact moment I fell in love with Perlman @5:20 - @6:02. The way he decelerated that passage to sync with the orchestra and looked up and in executed PERFECTION the @5:59 head nod must have felt obsoletely boinkers playing that and for us to watch it. I have never thought of playing it that way. Absolutely on a diff level.
@5:13 just casually hitting pitch perfect harmonic octaves (not even looking) enjoying it because he knows he will hit them all. omg.. i cant.. so this is what a god tier player plays like...
Maestro Perlman issues a gilt edge invitation to be exalted by beauty. Thank you Maestro in 2020 for all your wonderful music and thank you to the conductor, the orchestra of this performance and to UA-cam.
think of all the music he has in his head; absolutely wonderful
He is one of world's best. However, he wants too much money to hear him in-person!
rlk50atl right now he’s not anymore the best, but when he was in his prime there was absolutely NO competition to him. He’s the second best ever (among those who we can actually listen to) after Heifetz. He wants a lot of money now because he doesn’t “need” to do concerts...
@@Luca-ep2yd what about hillary hahn
@@usalty6010 Hilary right now is indeed the best in the world
@@Luca-ep2yd Although her technique is flawless, her playing feels mechanical and sometimes lack colors which comes out as bland...Her Bach recordings are impeccable tho
Spellbinding! This was one of my favourite pieces when I was a girl. Its magic hasn't faded with the passing years. I may not be able to play the violin, but great artists need an audience.
Are you a boy know? Lol

❤❤❤ Maestro Itzhak Perlman 😊
I’ve been in love with this piece since hearing it on my car radio almost 30 years ago, played ‘to me, unsurpassedly by Ruggerio Rucci. I almos had to stop driving.
MERVEILLEUX ITZHAK ! 🥰 🎻
Merveilleux orchestre de Tokyo.....
MERVEILLEUX MAX BRUCH ! 🎼 💛 💚
love Max Bruch violin concerts and to be played with Itzhak Perlman
excellent thank you
Goodness his hands are huge. I mean, I've got big hands, but the longest stretch I can make in first position is a D# on E. His hands freaking engulf the fingerboard, and he chokes every perfectly in tune note out of his violin with them.
Thank you, it was, after all, a very long time ago. I fell in love again, in fact several times. I am a grandfather now and have been happy for all the events in my life. Good and bad.
When the 2nd movement plays gets me all the time music has great power
Today's violinist seemed to pay all their attentions to the big four, the little jems namely Mendelssohn and Bruch were fortunately taken care of by Perlman.
I feel like many violinists don't play them since they're somewhat labeled as "student concertos."
@@dolphinreacts532 what do you mean? Hilary Hahn, Ray Chen, and Janine Jansen all have excellent performances of Mendelssohn and Bruch. I always thought that Bruch and Mendelssohn were both part of the big four.
@@RachaelLongLastName. I thought Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Beethoven were the big four! Anyway, Bruch violin co. #1 is my absolute favorite. I highly recommend listening to this concerto played by Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg. I like to compare different musicians, and believe she is right up there with Heifetz and Perlman. I cried when I heard her play the 2nd movement. 🥰
@@COCOAGRAY thanks I’ll give it a listen
I met Debbie at the University of Miami, she had been a football player's girlfriend. She was a beautiful, tall, blue eyed girl with a marvelous soul and infectious laugh. I took her to hear the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra play this piece. I fell in love with her that night, back in 1973; alas that affection was unrequited. She preferred her football player and they were reconciled. I still love this piece, even if it makes me a little melancholy.
Then u should listen to melaholic serenade by Tchaikovsky (there is also a video of Perlman playng it)
The most dramatic violin concerto of all; sad that Bruch never got the recognition he deserved.
Reminds me of a family who love one another so deeply almost like a long lost love
So deep you would move heaven and earth to keep it. The second Mvt reminds me of someone so in love with life that you open your arms spiritually to the world .
0:52 is a goo place to start.
Thank u kind sir

The most passionate violin concerto I know. Heard it live once and it has stayed with me ever since. Love it and listen to it now and then. Mr Perlman is fantastic in his interpretation.
You can tell he is feeling the music in his soul and simply channeling it joyously and lovingly, it radiates such soul soothing warmth 🤍💗🤍💗🤍💗🤍💗🤍
And, that is how it is done. Unbelievably wonderful.
Это божественно! Брависсимо!!!❤️
I am spellbound by the magic of the composition and the splendor of the performance.
Can't believe it was recorded 'bout 30 yrs ago.
The first time I heard this music was on a tape my father gave me. I was literally arrested when, after the first movement there was a pause, and then the second movement so plaintively and hauntingly began.
wonderful no words!
Grateful to the universe for the composers and performers who make life a lot better!
