Technically Pokemon Black and White were one of the worst selling Pokemon games.

@@polle4862 Meh, that doesn't mean it's not peak. It just means it went under-appreciated for a long time. One factor that was hard to account for factor was just that all us gen 3 kids were "getting too old." So many people started in the GBA era and fizzled out by the end of the DS era since we were in middle/high school. But then XY came out at a good time to jump back in and embrace what you like. I think if BW released in like 2008 it would have been a huge hit. Maybe not though, who knows.
No matter how much I think about it, I still cant believe that gen 5 has grown 12 years old now. This region was my one-way trip to Pokémon and I don't regret crossing that line. I still remember when I watched the anime for the first time and saw my boy Oshawott, I knew I would love this region, and I was true. When I chose Oshawott, I named it Kyle after myself because I wanted to, and he's single-handedly my best friend for life now. I would still be a boring and uninteresting guy if Pokémon didn't come to my life at all, and I still love this region to this day and its music.
That was touching to read Kyle. Gen 5 truly was iconic. Thank you for sharing and for watching. ☺️🙏

Editor's Note: my dad decided to buy me a switch lite without me knowing, so umm... That now goes to my top 10 most embarrassing moments in my personal life. Anyways, it didn't include legends Arceus, but I will get it someday... And once that day comes, me and Oshawott will finally reunite once more...

It's hurts so much, just to now that this game was released 12 years ago.
No other game will ever replace the good memories and happy moments I had with this game.

This was the gen that brought me back to pokemon (haven't played since gen 2-3), so i understand what you feel but... these games are next in the line of remakes, so even If they end up not being the same, you could still have a nice time playing them.

I think the black and white remakes will bring back nostalgia from all those 2000's kids who owned a DS or at least played pokemon
I get nostalgic tears in my heart every time I hear Dragonspiral Towers theme, tears that remind me that I will never be able to play Pokémon Black for the first time ever again. Gen 5 has had a significant place in my heart ever since I played it and that love will never go away. Hope you all are doing well in this time of ours
Pokémon black was my last “childhood” game before I took a break from the series. During Covid I played it again and then played black 2, and together they are the best of the whole series. Thanks for this

Mine too, coming back to them with a more mature head has made me realise just how excellent they always were.
It was my last "childhood" game as well, as it came out when I was 17. I played Black 2 and XY when they came out too, but I hardly remembered anything from either of them. Black stood out so much because there was so much unique about it at the time, from the NPC dialogue being richer than I remember previous titles' being and often straight up philosophical, to the seasons changing the music slightly, to each Pokemon being fully animated for the first time, and to just how good the overarching story was. One day I'll replay all three of those games, I'm sure I would appreciate them even more now with a much more mature lens.

Next up will be Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but I have to finish the game first and I want to leave you some time to do so as well. :)

It'll be nice to hear some Scarlet and Violet music. I started playing and instantly fell in love with it's soundtrack. I haven't finished it yet either, and apparently a lot of people have but I'm just taking my time.

This was the first Pokemon game I had ever bought with my own cash at age 7, It means so much to me. I still have the cartridge, as its my pride and joy.
listening to these make me want to cry, as it was such a simpler time, where the only thing i was worried about was the elite 4

I'd grown up with Pokemon, watching the anime and playing the card game with my friends, but I had never played any of the games until gen 5, as I just didn't own any Nintendo consoles. It was Christmas Eve of 2012 when I got a 3DS as my present, and a copy of White with it. I hadn't been so immersed in a game in a long while, just taking in Unova and becoming invested in the character arcs of your friends along the way, all while being imposed upon by N at every critical moment.
I had watched the show and movies, I'd watched other people play the older games, but I wouldn't have called myself a Pokemon fan - and yet here I was, completely sucked into this world. The decision for B/W's main story to include only Unova Pokemon tied me in so much more, as to a newcomer to the games, it really did give me this feeling of being the new kid, just making my way through.
I didn't expect to type all this, and it doesn't mean much, but hearing Unwavering Heart right away just made all the memories of that first experience return. Of my friends so excited that they could finally play Pokemon with me that they showered me with eggs or regularly asked to battle my team even though it was an unoptimized mess of a story team. It was something only to be experienced once, remembering how hard it hit me as credits rolled with N saying his goodbyes.
It sucks that gen 5 got such a negative reception for its time, because the Unova games have gone down as my favorite Pokemon games, and above that, some of my favorite games just in general.

I always thought Village Bridge was beautiful because it was people who were apart from each other and could not see each other coming together to make one beautiful song. First time I heard the song put together after the side quest of talking to all of the musical people in the town, the outcome gave me goosebumps. It pays sometimes to be a completionist lol
I've put over 1,000+ hours on my Pokémon White copy and had so much fun with it over the years. Thank you for bringing back fond memories with the nostalgia compilation. 🎧👍🏼

I grew up playing gen 6 and when I played White 2 i fell in love with the game and i will always say, “I live in Kalos but my heart stays in Unova”

Listening to this makes me so happy, but also sad. Pokemon has always been a special series to me that has helped me through so much, but Black and White in particular, as well as Black 2 and White 2 were always the closest to my heart. It’s sad to remember just how long ago those memories were and not being able to experience them anymore
Until last week my last pokemon game was platinum in 2009. I played all the generations and my first game was Yellow. Last week I started playing Black 2 and it was a very good surprise. I am happy that after so much time I was still able to play a game with the same enthusiasm as I played as a kid. It was a good trip to the past when we didn't have the adulthood everyday stress
I recently (last 4 months) played a unova remake (blaze black 1 & 2), and while it took me replaying the region several years after its initial introduction, the music and appreciation I have for gen 5 is unreal. So this playlist hits in ALL the feels 😭

My journey started with Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and it reached it's peak with Black 2, I will never forget opening that game for the first time and being able to experience it freshly, I played it to death with teo of my brothers (one had white, one had white 2) unfortunately times aren't the same and those memories can't be relived, as much as I want to relive them.
Thank you Game Freak for making a core part of my childhood.

Dang, almost feels like some kind of symbolism that the video's picture starts with an adorable flashback of N reading a book with what seems like a caring father figure. Then it slowly pans upward through the video... revealing a plotting Ghetsis laying out his plans, planting the seed of mistrust about humans and Pokemon probably with whatever story he's reading to N.

Pokemon peaked with this one. I started with saphire and loved it, I was disapointed with both leaf green and diamond because I felt they were too slow and fell in love with heart gold. Black 1 and 2 were so good I actually couldn't belive it. The gameplay, graphics, story, animations are as good as it gets. x&y Ruined the series.
