I recently test drove a 22' JCW it's so much fun to drive but there was one thing that was annoying with the Manual Transmission. The rev hang (not to be confused with rev-match) on these are amongst the worst i've encountered on any car [regardless of Sport or Mid mode]! It makes it impossible to shift up quickly (you can actually see it in the video at 16:10 and 16:14 ). It looks like bad shifting, but it's not; the revs are just not dropping fast enough when shifting up [it literally takes 1.5 seconds until it drops]. MINI did this on purpose to meet emission standards. Upon research as of May 2023, no one has figured out how to disable it that I know of. [Seriously, test drive a new Miata ND and you'll see how quickly you can shift in that due to little to no rev-hang] I'm sure it just takes some getting use to, to shift "smoothly". I also test drove it with the new 8speed Auto and it's quick, however not as engaging. So even with rev-hang, i'm still going to purchase the manual.
Awesome video.. how does it cruise on the highway? I do alot of highway driving for my commute and would love a good daily driver/commuter. Thanks for your video, you covered lots of info.
Thanks, it’s decent on the highway. If you’re here in Texas you’ll know the highways here are another beast, lol. But overall I wouldn’t not buy it just for that reason. 👍
good review! looks hella fun! these new minis are super reliable... they are a bit expensive but other hot hatches dont have the personality and quality of the mini.
Head up display is in the settings menu, finding one of these now with a high spec will be hard due to chips/parts shortage. Nice review but it's more of a lifestyle car than a pratical car, second car for sure.
I had to purchased the 2023 Mini Cooper due to my 2021 Nissan Rogue kept getting problems with engine issues with RPM below 500 stalled out everyday and when car turns left it violently shaking while turning left (that car been sat in driveway for five days now) Air filter was needed replacing so I tried to find right replacement part zero percent able to find it went to dealer ordered the parts I had to wait for few weeks due to my Nissan Rogue part shortage car sat in driveway still usable but half inoperable My 2021 Nissan Rogue is last generation equipped with 4 Cylinder Engine than discontinued less than one year than replaced with 3 cylinder turbo version
Great review. I have had my new JCW 3 door for a few weeks and really impressed but not liking the slow steering self centring. When turning a 90 degree corner the steering doesn’t self centre quickly like other cars I have driven and often needs to manually be brought back. Also in straight line at speed small movements stay in that position and therefore have to keep correcting. It would be helpful to know if you experience this too and if not I can get the dealer to investigate what the issue is.
Great video and review…good job…i have the equivalent 2019 JCW and never have I had such fun…a lotta folks are surprised how roomy and comfortable it is…
Couple of observations from a "Miniac" - you can adjust the head up display - it is a couple menu levels down under the display section. CarPlay is wireless - I think wired too but even I haven't figured that out - I'm only an Apple user for my Mini. If you want more (power and room inside) the Clubman has more HP, TQ and interior space - though you can't (couldn't) get it in a manual transmission. Price isn't for the "feign" of heart they aren't inexpensive but during the time of this review you could option up a Clubman JCW and pay less "out the door" (i.e. they would deal on them) compared to a Golf R or Type R. MSRP to MSRP those would be less expensive but sticker wasn't really reality for the competition (it might be today).
Great video! It was interesting to see that sport mode doesn't really change the 0 to 60. Ive had two Minis. Love the normal two door. Will maybe get the JCW for the extra fun. Also had the Clubman S, but felt the car was too heavy for the engine. Maybe it would be more fun in the JCW version.
I say yes - I have two JCWs with a 3rd on the way - if the road is rough then you can ride in "mid mode" - if you need more than that I'd suggest the Clubman for the longer wheel base. Don't option the higher diameter wheels or look to add some non-runflat tires which will be better in all areas except for if you get a puncture.... The Countryman JCW is really no-joke either...
Optioned all the way up (that one was the ICONIC trim) and with a few extras (there wasn't many add-ons for that model year due to supply chain) that would have been just under or just over $46k with destination. You can usually negotiate that price though. If price is in your top three for making a decision you'll probably not choose the MINI - you have to be interested in the brand more than what you'll spend. Fun cars, just not inexpensive.
Had my Mini JCW almost 2 months. Very impressed by the build quality/premium feel, and it's a lot of fun to drive.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing 👍

Awesome and thanks :)
Love the moonwalk color, the red I’m still not 100 percent sure about though. Black would probably more cohesive .
Yeah that would look nice for sure

EVERYONE should be driving a MINI
Not EVERYONE can afford one😅

Thanks! I didn’t notice any issue like that at all.
I hope you guys do enjoy the video. Let me know your thoughts on the Mini!
Great work 👍

Super dope! Work on those 0-60s though lol 😉
lol, gotcha
The clubman version is more family friendly
Is JCW comfortable enough for practical daily use?
Was for me and I’m a bigger guy. 👍

Tested one of these about a week ago, it's got wireless CarPlay so you're all good.
This car has wireless car play, I guess you missed that.
Nice, thanks for the correction 👍
Price plz
