Counting Cars is a reality TV show whose popularity extends beyond the shores of the United States. The series started as the third spin-off of another reality TV show, Pawn Stars. It is filmed in Las Vegas, and it chronicles the activities of the crew at Count’s Kustoms, which is owned by the controversial Danny Koker, a.k.a. The Count.
Following the same format as many other car shows, Counting Cars documents the conflicts and drama between Danny Koker and his team as they restore and modify classic automobiles and motorcycles. And boy, there was a load of drama and bad blood between the cast members. So much drama that several members left the show for various reasons.
Despite the drama, which the fans lived for during its prime, Counting Cars enjoyed great viewership and a good rating. With that success, it ran for ten seasons, from 2012 to 2021. However, no new season has been approved by History Channel after the tenth season, and the fans have been left to wonder why. So, join us as we reveal the real reason why Counting Cars ended.

We visited Vegas in 2021 and while our itinerary was mainly casino related, I made it a point to visit Counts Customs. Nothing in Vegas is free, but Danny opens his business to anyone who wants to tour his facility, for absolutely no charge. Thanks Danny!

That UA-cam announcer don't know what he's talking about, it's just some hater out there trying make him look bad are out for revenge. There's proof that most of Danny Koker right hand employees still work for him now.
I did a search to see who Joseph Frontiera was. Every story I clicked on also included pics of Ryan and made it seem as if Ryan Evans was the crook.
PROTIP: Never buy a used car from a middle-aged man who still calls himself "The Count." So many damn red flags....

I've always wondered how so many people get scammed and I figured out it's the same type of people that believe these fake reality shows.
The same people who go to CNN or MSNBC or even Fox for news.
They elected a reality show personality because they thought it was real.
I worked in auto restoration and repair for 26 years , and no auto work place ever has a chance to look so clean as that shop . The other laugh is ; most jobs never , ever gets finished on schedule , on time . Because anything that can go wrong , usually will . Other than that ' Nice rides 🔥

I used to haul farm chemicals out of a place that had a work shop just as clean as that. I wouldn't have wanted to work for the guy, though. You have to be really anal about it to keep it that clean.

None of it self made. He was a child actor who inherited all his money from his filthy rich father when he passed. Danny Koker was handed his life.

Every reality show I have ever tried to watch starts out educational and interesting. Before long, it is all clearly scripted bullshit drama and anything that interested me in the first place is long gone.
with all the grown men acting like children, and the overly decorated tasteless work, it might have been the show was conceived to appeal to a younger audience. And it took them a couple of years to figure kids today are not car crazy.
I certainly can't contradict the robot narrator, but can say a hit show easily generates enough revenue to cover any problems the embezzlement amount caused.

I heard that the show was axed for budgetary reasons, as the material cost of Danny's bald cover-up bandanas was becoming unsustainable.

Between Horny Mike, Ryan and Danny... I can see the "bad-ass bandana boy" budget being WAY too much for HISTORY to fund.
This goes on and on about some guy who was barely on the show named Joe who ripped them off, but shows Ryan, their lead artist as that person. Even doing a search for Joe keep pulling up Ryan's pics. Seems to me someone likely did a story about Joe and included a pic of Ryan as "stock footage" from the series, and then people just took it as Ryan was Joe. I feel for Ryan and his family if anyone mistakes him for Joe and gives him grief. Sheesh people, get your facts correct.

I would say there is a lot of truth , its's more like a carnival act rather than a elite body shop.
All the car restoration shows are BS. There’s no way cars can be restored so quickly and easily. The shows aren’t even about the cars themselves, they are just little soap operas with scripted conflicts and bad acting.
Its made for TV! Do you really want to watch a show in real time? Get a clue and just enjoy it!

The reason all these shows turn to crap is because they get away from original subject matter and go to the drama stuff. I want to watch and learn about car being restored, not watch some preconceived drama that you think makes the show more interesting.
those shows are intended to make money- not teach armchair mechanics how to restore stuff. if you want to learn that- start out by buying vehicles that need repairs and fixing /flipping them.

Another problem was the 1955 Chevrolet Nomad station wagon. Counting Cars did not complete the project as the customer wanted. The customer ended up taking the car to another shop to have it done as he wanted. Counting Cars was court ordered to pay the bill for doing so.
The shop and Koker have been sued more than once. One couple wanted a particular year Mustang and were told it wouldn't be a problem. Except, when they went to pick it up, it wasn't the right model. The couple said, "That's not the car we paid for." The response was: "That's the car that you got." Another former customer sued because a car featured on the show didn't run despite the customer paying for it to be fixed up. IN both cases, the shop and Koker (in one of the cases) were named as defendants.
@@mikeheuer1276The owner of the '55 Chevy Nomad sued also because his car was not done as he wanted. He stated that he wanted no pin stripes. Danny and Ryan did it anyway. The customer took the car elsewhere and had the car redone at Danny's expense.
You also might notice Koker never once so much as holds a wrench on that show. I seriously doubt he really has mechanical aptitude, but I could be wrong. I used to watch the show but stopped when they had a member of a heavy metal band "stranded" on the side of the road while riding a stock Vulcan 800 motorcycle. Koker claimed it just got "something sucked up into the carb" and supposedly cleared it. Thing is, that's impossible on that bike with the stock air intake on it. I know because I own a Vulcan 800 and modified its airbox to put in an open-air K&N filter and rejected the carb for more power. @@sergeantmasson3669

The obsession with spider webs and that gross cross design should be a tip off of what’s to come, not exactly Chip Foose or Dave Kindig to mention a few.
It was canceled because Danny had no taste. They'd beautifully restore a car and then he would tell his guys to paint flames 🔥 and skulls 💀 on it. If he was feeling exceptionally inspired, he would mix it up with skulls 💀 and flames 🔥.
For those old enough to remember, I think he was also Tammy Faye Baker's make-up consultant.

I agree, with the polite reservation that there is no accounting for taste. I once had a friend with abominable taste in anything decorative, and he liked a lot of decorations. Turned out the guy was dishonest, which solved the problem of me having to deal with his decorations, but he did have enough sense to keep his car in good repair.
Unless Koker's dress and demeanor were stage presentations for effect, one could pretty much look at the guy's personal demeanor and style of dress, and know to expect a pile of crap car in return for your money. They guy never exactly reeked of sincerity.
while it is obvious the car industry attracts many very individual and unique people, those that make their own way do so within a context that can be validating and understood. What I understood via the screen was that Koker was a wanna be biker guy who instead choose selling used cars, and pictures himself as somewhat slick when others are concerned.

Speaking of lawsuits, if I were Ryan Evans, I would sue you for continually showing his picture while talking about Frontiera. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON. Google it. I think I have watched every episode of Counting Cars and I don't recall ever seeing anyone named Joseph Frontiera.
Every car they touched was so predictable, lowered with air suspension, huge ugly wheels and slim tires, and horrible garish paint schemes. Cars that no-one but those with a lack of taste would find desirable.
I hate those big ugly wheels. They have no place on a classic car.

What kills these shows is the people who take over the show and put their spin on it . These shows were great as a You tube set up because they were close to the viewer .

They never worked in the shop because they didn't have to they own the business and they paid other people to do it

I watched many episodes but I don't remember them restoring any classic cars to original or even with period correct parts. Some people like resto-mods some like original condition and possibly with some modern safety features. For example, on my 1965 Mustang coupe I put dual reservior power master brake cylinder in place of the single reservoir manual brakes system. It already had original front disc brakes. Now the car is safer and someday can be a daily driver. Even at cars shows the safety upgrades could be appreciated. The late 1965 models had some of the 1966 model features. Also, I can connect the 4 way emergency flasher to my wire harness which also appeared in 1966 and on some late production 1965 models. Nobody really checks the Vin in the local car shows anyway. Restoring cars to original condition brings back good memories to many people, to a time when life seemed simpler.
Once again the only real custom car build show was with Ian and his dog, no drama, almost solo , always a real scavenger of parts that he’d make it work . I know its all scripted and filmed over and over but his show was the most normal with awesome custom results

Anything listed as 'reality show' bears very little resemblance to reality.
The real reason Counting Cars ended is car building shows can only run so long before they get boring. Like American Pickers all those shows have a shelf life. They're not like Candid Camera or Cops which can run forever.

I once saw a completed customers car being returned to the owner the camera quickly scanned the front and showed a freshly painted surface that had deep sand marks in between the 2 grille halves and they were sending it out like that, unless they were going to fix it off camera and had to finish the episode I though that was some very unacceptable work.

Years ago when there was a Spike TV they had several car shows that were very educational on Sundays . Boy how I
miss those programs. I forced myself to watch this show and Fast N' Loud but they both failed to live up to my viewing

There's gotta be a way to watch it again though , I used to watch it with my grandad and both of us loved it but it's not on TV anymore, I can only find the first 3 seasons on dvd and only thing online that has it charges 26 bucks a season

No one on earth knows what his forehead looks like. Even he has forgotten.
Regardless of all the negativity, it was a great show. Compared to all of the crap on TV, this one was educational and entertaining. We lived vicariously through them. I had the opportunity to meet Danny, and he was more than I had expected. Let's keep in mind that no show/program is flawless because humans are flawed. Greed, jealousy and politics are part of all of our lives. We all have our experiences, points of view and opinions, but at the end of the day, this awesome show survived 10 seasons. That one hell of a feather in anyone's hat!

Favorite car shows currently ... Bitchin Rides, Iron Resurrection, and the Road Kill dudes. Also really like Fantomworks even though it's no longer on the air. (Dan (owner) ended the show himself because filming the show got in the way of the business - gotta respect that.) A new favorite great is Roadworthy Rescues (aka Vice Grip Garage on YT). All of these are on the MotorTrend channel. Pretty much avoid anything on the History channel.
Yeah, VGG, No Nonsense Know How, Junkyard Digs, Pole Barn Garage and Cold War Motors are my favs.
I like Bitchin Rides because they go into depth with the guys doing the actual work on the cars. I appreciate the CAD machine programming 3D printing and Lazer and tig/mig welding etc because it's the type of work I did before retiring.

How much does a kindig restoration cost? Their "average" cost for a paint job was about $20K and their average cost for a car build was $300-400K." (I liked how Fantom Works, would tell you.)

Every one wants to get into the custom car building business. Mismanagement chewed them up and spit them OUT
all you need is a garage and some knowledge and huevos. it also helps to be in socal where there is a lot of solid, older vehicles. i think cash4clunkers really messed it up for many of us.
I tried watching a few times but the camera work was so utterly irritating to watch. They CONSTANTLY played with the zoom. Constantly. I just wanted them to point the camera at a car so we could actually look at it. Anyway like I said, I never watched much of it and I'm surprised it was on for as long as it was.
Danny actually started Pawn stars. Danny's parents gave him a production co. Danny started in MI on a tv show. He played count Dracula.

If you think these shows are a reflection of reality then you’re living in a fantasy world. Good entertainment, but nothing more than that. And I’m not surprised that some of the personnel on the show were crooks; it happens.

I stopped watching this when I found that most the work done to get it on the TV schedule was outsourced. I worked for a tool shop in the Detroit area, a friends wife does dash and interior work for a lot of these car restoration places. She was doing this from her garage and now has a crew of 12-16 women that are former auto workers that produce new interiors.
Faked drama is what led me to ditch legacy TV.
He talks about Joseph and they keep showing videos of Ryan. Maybe there's no footage of Joeseph.🤔

ryan seems honest and not a druggie- so he provides some contrast to the rest of the cast.
Chip Foose and Overhaulin is the gold standard of these kinds of shows.
The fake drama kills the show
Danny has a huge ego and rude guy. I was at his club to watch LA Guns ive kniw most of then since the late 80's Phil invited us to hang out back stage with the group and the Security and Danny stopped us from going back. Phil from LA guns was with us told them it was ok we are friends of his. Well long story short we ended up getting kicked out. We met up with the Guns after the show at a bar down the street and they talked about how poorly they were treated there and will never play there again.
I’ll never understand bars that treat their entertainment like shit.
There should be a reality show filmed at his bar. I used to hang out there & from night to night, it was just one bizarre ordeal after another.

I enjoyed the show to a point. I know one thing; the personalities on the show (including Koker), were the type where I'd always have one hand on my wallet.

that show was nothing but a big joke, they never showed the the work in progress it just went from a car needing work to a finished product nothing in between, and then they would put a lot of stupid stripping on it and flames, that was probably done at another shop, the sop was so clean you could tell there wasn't any work going on there.
Make Shows without fake dates and NO DRAMA. The cars in the show room look great, I just hate the drama, I'm there for the talent and the cars

One of my favorite shows,Ryan Evans is a really great Artist that man is Great at what he does,And Danny had a great show and awesome cars and vehicles and Mike was real good also,and I don't think its coming back on tv i wish but it was one of the better car shows too,Dannt knows his cars too,and music.
I saw this man tell "Pawn Stars" that a car from 1950's fully professionally restored was worth $50,000. The sellers did not sell. Later he reportedly sold the car for $350,000..
Hard to believe a show about a bunch of greasy carnival geeks ever got on the air at all, much less lasted ten years! And what was the deal about that beach towel wrapped around the main geek's head every show?

All these shows have been fun to watch for a while, Rust Valley Restorations filmed in BC was a pretty big hit as well, have not seen any new episodes would be fun to see more of that.
New season 5 is recording but history Channel Canada won’t likely release it till this fall . Mike and Avery both started YT channels that are much like the TV show , laid back and pretty fun .
