The Haunted Mesa started out so good, with a slow buildup and a nice atmosphere of mystery, but when you hit the halfway mark things start happening way too quickly and it felt rushed. The "romance" comes out of nowhere, and the ending felt too slapdash. Honestly the latter half felt like it was unfinished. But it was still a pretty cool book; it showed that L'Amour was willing to branch out.
Ypur prophile pic looks familiar what's that from.. also thanx for the review on the book..its good to know before getting into it.. I'm the type I dnt mind knowing things about the story some dnt even like to read the back of the book lol... I find worh reading and movies I notice new things each time.habe a good day or night 👍🙏
I've read so many Louis L'amour books over the years, and most of his romance comes out of nowhere. LOL The guy writes good stories, but the romance department is usually very cringe.
I am so happy for this recommendation. I collect Louis L'Amour books as I absolutely love his style of writing. I bought the book at a thrift store recently and it is now on my April TBR!
One of the last birthday presents I received from my great grandfather as a child and was the first real novel I ever read. Brings back lots of memories.
I’m not a reader, with both A.D.D. & mild dyslexia & I’ve read this book 3 times! Along with one called DOG that I currently cannot find, I wanted to share that story about (a boy in the projects that wasn’t allowed to have a dog, but befriended one in an old junked out car)with my grandkids!
I bought the book when it first come out. I rereading it. I like your know the legend it base on. I have a first printing. I think if I remember correctly. I think this was one of his last books published before he died. I also like your know about the legend the Californios base on. I grew up looking at the north side of the mountains that the story base on. I enjoy Louis LAmour books.
My biggest criticism of The Haunted Mesa is it was very repetitive. It felt like it was unedited or something. Like how many questions is the narrative going to ask? Felt like it was written by the Riddler at one point.
My gram loved this author.....❤❤i ised to joke with her as a kid cause she loved audiobooks by him...and now that im older im gna start..hence why im here.....i like to listen to things when i relax.so might as well be somthing gram used to rave about..😂👍👍👍
Just came in the mail. I bought it right after watching your other video that it was in the featured. I can’t wait to read it, and the added bonus is my maiden name is Ragland (another spelling for Raglan - the main character’s last name.). Not a common name.:)

Was lucky enough to find this at a thrift store for $4! Love Louis L'Amour, The Proving Trail is my favourite book of his.
Last of the bread and haunted mesa were my favorites. Wish haunted mesa was on audiobook.
I devoured the book. not really science fiction or horror but paranormal. great read. would love to watch the movie.
Added to my TBR pile. Thanks for the rec.
North America is haunted. The caves, the forests, around the waterfalls, even the sky itself. I think Louis understood that.
