Hi Brian. Thanks for sharing your Louis L'Amour collection with us and recommending some of your favorites. I was wondering if you ever read Louis L'Amour's autobiography, "Education of a Wandering Man" ? It is on my TBR pile and I heard it is very good. Thanks for all your reviews. Regards
You’re lucky is you even get artwork on a book cover anymore. So many of them are the book title, author’s name, and some random swirls or color. You can’t even tell what genre it’s in from the cover “art”.
I had about 50 or so LL paperbacks, but the condition of most of them (bought second-hand) could be described as “ratty”. So, a year ago, I threw them, and a bunch of other books out to build a hardcover library of books I wanted to read before I died. I’ve filled about 8 bookshelves, but had only found 4 LL books. Then, 2 days ago, I went to a local Goodwill bookstore and hit the motherload! There was a collection of 111 LL books, all in dark brown leather with sewn bindings, and the author’s signature on the front in gold, with titles on the spine, also in gold and easy to read. I couldn’t believe it, but I got the entire collection for $460! I agree with you that it’s cool to have the artwork on the paperbacks, but this collection is gorgeous! I’m now trying to find if there’s a good order to read them in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Edit: OK, I’ve got the Sackett saga in order (thanks!), and the non westerns separated. As I recall, the straight westerns can be read in any order. Please let me know if you’d recommend reading some before others. Thanks again for your video! Sorry for the additions, but what I’ll do is, as I’m reading a book, I’ll find the cover art on the web and have it on my iPad, so I won’t miss out completely in that aspect.
It's so nice to see this collection. I've been collecting his books since I was 14; I'm 27 now. Favorite writer by far. I've read his memoir more than any other book.
Don't know how I missed this earlier. Thank you so very much! Started reading Louis L'Amour as a teen, my father was a great fan, have reread so many of them so many times I have lost count. Would have been good to talk about how many of his stories have been turned into movies. Favorites books include Dark Canyon, Flint, Hondo and Haunted Mesa, but that just scratches the surface. Have been to Sweet Alice Hills on a horse back tour for a week, been to El Malpais and the Sulfur Springs Valley.
I got forced to read back in 6th grade for failing English. So all summer long I had to do a book report once a week. And my step-dad gave me his box of Louis L'Amour books. I've been hooked for over 35 years.
My question....A friend (years ago) showed me a specific Louie L'Amour western paperback. I believe it had a small section describing an interaction with Wild Bill Hickok and Tom Speers on the main street of Kansas City, Missouri. Speers was the Marshall of Kansas City at the time and he and Hickok were friends. Speers challenged Hickok to hit the center of a large "O" on a sign down the street. It's a "very long shot" (excuse the pun), but I'm trying desperately to figure out which book that encounter would have been in, so that I can purchase a copy. The True Story.... I found, researched and documented Tomas M. Speers service revolver, back in the early 70's. It had an inscription on the back-strap that read; "Tomas Speers, Chief Police, From The Force, 1882" That's how I was able to verify the authenticity of the gun. I know Speers and Hickok were friends, which is well documented. Is there ANY chance YOU or one of your subscribers, might recognize such and encounter in any L'Amour paperback? Actually, ANY reference to Speers and Hickok would be very helpful. Sorry about the desperation here. Rick / rah4736@gmail.com
You always make me smile thanks for posting
You’re my go-to Rememberencer and Keeper of the Lore of the Good Time, our Golden Age.
My Louis L'amour books are a treasured part of my collection. I've been reading them since I was a kid. Good video!
Impressive collection, not a broken spine among them.

"welcome to the number one tv program in the history of entire universe"❤❤❤
I have around 30 LL books excluding ebooks, gotta get em all
You are right that modern cover art is HS. I find it even more satisfying that you say it while showing cover art with beautifully painted horses.

Lets Go!
I recently got some Louis Lamour books is there a order or can I start at any book?
If you have to recommend a couple of his books for a new reader, which ones would you consider?

MANIPULATED LIVES: Unmasking Social Media's Shadow please review this book
Agree with your take most book cover “art” is horseshite. Warhammer novels of all kinds are a welcome exception ;)
You have 79 of his 100 novels.
