Saw this video when it was first posted, decided that I wanted to read L'amour since I had never read anything by him before. Went to the local goodwill that afternoon and the powers that be allowed me to find a copy of Haunted Mesa. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the book. I have read two other titles by L'amour since. Thanks for introducing me to such a wonderful author!
The "Owl in Monument Canyon" by H. Jackson Clark has a wonderful story of the first time Louis saw Haunted Mesa in a small plane flying with the author over the San Juan River.
I emailed Beau L’amour today and asked if there were any plans to present The Haunted Mesa in audiobook format. He actually responded within an hour! He recommended this video, even sent a link, saying “It’s a fun video…”. Unfortunately, for me anyway, it was a negative on the audiobook but I was introduced to this great video and also had my faith in good people restored when Beau returned my email with a sincere and heartfelt response.
Awesome video adventure! Beau L'Amour [Louis' son] said Louis didn't drive(!) and his wife had to drive him in close to places he wanted to explore and then he had to backpack in. Beau said his mom had a big Cadillac, but years later they got a 4X4 and could go in closer so Louis could do research. My fav LL book...thanks for this great vid! later
Thanks for the road trip guys. One of my favorite stories of all time ❣️
Unreal, read a lot of his books, haunted mesa being my favourite.
Didn’t know so much of it was based around a real spot, good on you lads
My favorite book of his! Thanks for the video ❤️

L'amour is foundational. We've fired employees for not ever having read any of his books. Just kidding on that... sort of.

Read all his books growing up thanks to my dad. Haunted Mesa was the first. Always wanted to take the same trip to see this area.

Did you find the arm sticking thru a rock wall? Did you see the lost steamboat? Did you find the "sometimes place?"
Great video. Thanks.
Louis is one of my favs also. Thanks for documenting thus trip.
That was beautiful. Thank you.
Every time I go west, I’m reminded of what Chris LeDoux said in, underneath these western skies.
This book was my world for a bit as a kid. Now HPG is my world.
I actually like that version of “Cruel Summer” at the end. Great video guys. 👊
