I arrived to the Scriabin party late, but man oh man it was worth the wait... During the pandemic I started listening to some works/composers that I had previously written off or misunderstood or just never really explored and when I heard this piece I was totally taken aback. The finale nearly knocked me out of my seat. Such a shame he died so young and was cancelled by the Soviets. God only knows what else he would have composed. Absolutely magnificent!!!
Same for me, I pretty much ignored Scriabin all my life until last year I discovered a young pianist named Daria Vasileva who has made Scriabin her specialism, now I can't get enough of his music.
The lighting was classy, and the interpretation quite fine. What I wasn't expecting was the chorus appearing behind a grate, dressed in priestly veils... oh my!
You may already be aware of it, but Scriabin called for an invention to create colors and light effects during the playing of this piece, as he strongly associated various musical keys with an associated color.
I was lucky enough to have received the score of Prometheus in New York , however it was in cold war times not allowed. I still have a facsimile of this score in my personal collection. In this piece I found my earlier style of writing which I truly did have. Just an incredible usage of modal structures with the potential of creating new harmonies. Of course the tritone was at the center of his thinking. Ashkenazy is my favorite interpreter of Scriabin.
Fantástico Obra e apresentação sem palavras

Sych an amazing performance. No-one else brings out the colours in Scriabin's music like Ashkenazy. Such powerful piece with a glorious ending

What disappointing applause for this! I would yell at the top of my lungs. My God.
I believe the performance is in Japan, where overreaction and hyperbole are not favored.
Maybe the audience could barely move after the end! haha
