Yes when holding the traction control button for 5 seconds and the quotation mark comes on and it says Stabilitrack off that means the real wheels are freely to do what ever force u put on the gas Peddle, basically it's the best for burnouts and donuts. I hope this answers ur question yes stabilitrack is fully off when holding the traction control button for 5 secs 😊
Yes, I've put mine on the track many times - traction and stability control completely off...I get my quickest times that way. We didn't have traction control when I started drag racing - we used our right foot ;) PS, you don't need to change modes to turn it off, just hold the button down until it turns off. Happy Motoring!
I noticed that when you hit the button for 5 seconds, the track mode went off and it went to performance mode. Not sure if you caught that but just an FYI. I have the Chevy SS and absolutely love this car.
I have had mine for about 2 months now absolutely an amazing car i never knew about holding the button for 5 seconds though i’ve always pressed 2 times is there really any difference between the 2
Great car, congrats! I think it just dials back Stabilitrak more when in Perf, then in track mode both TC and Stabilitrak are dialed back, supposedly more. Haven’t tested that on track though, probably wont as its become more of a leisure car now. Enjoy it!
On my 2008 solstice gxp, competitive mode appears to fully disable traction control on the front and rear. Stability control is off on the rear and on for the front. How does it compare? Smile on my face ear to ear. Always drive in competitive mode. Fishtails are easy and the car is very predictable with control. I have fishtailed around a tire on the freeway doing 80mph with great control. I've also thanked the mode when I fishtailed from a stop to avoid a car backing into me.
I drive mine in track mode most of the time, feels like steering is tighter, slightly stiffer ride, maybe holds a lower gear a little longer... will try that 5 second press tomorrow.
So I am getting my car in 2 weeks time, and when I purchased the car from my dealer he is 1.5hrs away, so the deal was done over the phone. Last Friday after 1.5hrs heading east, I went to meet the salesman and ask a few questions. When I was heading back home 1.5hr west, I noticed a lot of bugs on my windscreen from the drive down. Damn, I thought, when I pick up my brand new car in 2 weeks time I am probably going to get a lot of bugs... maybe I need some of your solution... As for the Holden SSV Redline with launch control? There is no competitive mode in an Australian SSV Redline manual nor automatic - only the limited edition MSEs and the HSVs have the different modes that the Chevy SS has - unless I don't know about something! I'll find out in 2 weeks time when I get my SSV Redline that is manual and I'll update you!
I try to clean the bugs off as soon as possible as well lol. The longer it sticks, the more paint damage over time. Thanks for the insight in to the SSV, looking forward to you getting yours!
I have a 2015 Holden SSV Redline with brembos on the back and S/S rear mufflers from DPE, anyway the Park assist button if you hold it down it does stop the same features, but also stops the ESC, so it says on the screen ? But like the comment below we do not get lunch control at all in the auto's and magnetic ride, heated seats and 8 way adjustable passenger seats in the Redlines, they are a basically the first model un officially from HSV or Holden's version of the first cab of the rank from HSV. :) Still for the best bang for buck put a small supercharger on them and you have easy 500 HP at the rear wheels for about 12K, depending on who does it and what gets done etc. :)
Nope even the auto has it, i have one and you click the traction button real quickly and it goes to competitive mode and the steering goes just a little tighter and the throttle is a lot more responsive, at least i noticed it while driving and when taking off from the lights. :)
I thought "Stabilitrak Off" was in the OM. This is a feature in multiple GM vehicles. My Silverado also allows a complete defeat of Stabilitrak with the long button press, which is useful off-road (it will turn it completely off automatically when putting it into 4-Lo as well).
Update: yep. 2016 owners manual, page 244 (in the PDF version anyway), Driving and Operating. Very clear that a press-and-hold turns off both traction control (TCS) and Stabilitrak: " To turn off only TCS, press and release the TCS/StabiliTrak button. The traction off light i displays in the instrument cluster. To turn TCS on again, press and release the TCS/StabiliTrak button. The traction off light i displayed in the instrument cluster will turn off. If TCS is limiting wheel spin when the TCS/StabiliTrak button is pressed, the system will not turn off until the wheels stop spinning. To turn off both TCS and StabiliTrak, press and hold the TCS/StabiliTrak button until the traction off light i and StabiliTrak OFF light g come on and stay on in the instrument cluster. To turn TCS and StabiliTrak on again, press and release the TCS/ StabiliTrak button. The traction off light i and StabiliTrak OFF light g in the instrument cluster turn off."
I've been driving my 14' in stabilitrack competitive mode pretty much all of the time in the last month or so and it's wonderful! Seems as though the car grips better in hard turns and the car definitely stays straighter doing launches. The traction control is like 50% active in this mode I would say because I can spin the tires a good bit on launches but try to do a burnout in that mode and you'll see literally all of the power to the wheels is cut
One option which also works on all Chevy/Holden models is you press traction control button once then press and Hold for about 5 seconds and that will dis sable traction and stability control completely meaning you can go full drifty boy😂
What i want is a mode that sharpens throttle response. I love track mode, but I mostly use it in the rain because it doesn't really affect daily driving, otherwise.
When driving the 2016 SS Auto would you suggest using the paddle shift on a straight line or just let the car do its thing. And in what mode would y’all suggest?
Nice car! I am looking at a Blue 2016 SS. How fast is this car? Any issues? Are your rims real black or plasti dipped or paint? Does this car accelerate hard?
Wheels are plastidipped. Car pulls good off the line and from a dig. Best 0-60 time I could get so far is 4.7 sec. Other than the power steering rack needing replacement, the car has been great. Thanks for checking out the video! Hope you get your SS soon!
Just out of curiosity, are you saving fuel in touring mode compared to using sport or performance? I've personally never noticed a difference in mileage when I'm in touring compared to performance.
I would think it's total stability control is turned off. I'll provide a link to a UA-cam video of Greg Murphy demonstrating a HSV VF GTS Commodore ESC(Electronic Stability Control) system which is similar to your Stabilitrak system. Greg Murphy is a New Zealander that raced in the Super V8 class in the Australian Touring cars. They used the Holden Commodores & the Ford Falcons. He was 4 times Bathurst winner & a top driver in this field. You might want to look up Bathurst 1000 & you will see the pedigree of Holden thru the years. Peter Brock was the greatest Driver winning 9 times at Bathurst which still stands today as a record. ua-cam.com/video/EMN1FBNQV18/v-deo.html
@@RedSS you're welcome. You should make a trip to either Australia or New Zealand * you will see Holden Commodores everywhere. We love them down under 😊

different for ss though. gotta hit once for tc off and can burnout, and twice is launch mode, cant burnout.
@@justicerobertson3119 that’s good to know that they have launch control

There's a "secret decoder book" they put in the glove box of every new SS. It's worth a read.

The Holden SSV Redline get launch control when competitive mode is selected but you need to have a manual

Get a Vitesse Throttle Controller. It's like magic.

I like letting the car do its thing. But try both, see what feels better.
Stabilitrak off should be renamed to "donut ability mode"

what should i do
That’s weird competitive mode on the Camaro turns traction control off but leaves stabili attack on
Just out of curiosity, are you saving fuel in touring mode compared to using sport or performance? I've personally never noticed a difference in mileage when I'm in touring compared to performance.
The few times I used Tour I didn't notice a difference either.
Those modes are more for the bi-modal exhaust and handling. I drive in touring most of the time because I don’t like loud exhaust.
This makes sense I’ve been doing donuts in no fun mode
the stabilitrak traction control still come on
