i know what war means i was 16 years old and i survived 3 days we had nothing to eat or drink serbian and russian soldiers attacked my country together and fought. A soldier fights against a soldier and not against civilians who had no weapons, there were women, children, old people. as long as i live i will never forget it but i survived i know that there are also volunteers from kosovo to fight for ukraine and they also came i hope everything will be fine.

"the reality is pretty overwhelming". This. And I say this as someone who's been to Afghanistan. Even many vets don't know what they're getting themselves into. It's one thing to fight against lightly armed sandal warriors, while enjoying total air supremacy and a gunship or air strike only one radio call away. And a totally different one, being on the receiving end of such, being hit with large caliber artillery, missile strikes, etc. I've seen combat, and it's scary. Anyone who says they're not scared is a liar. Yes, it's also a rush, and some people miss it. But I can't imagine what it's like to be on the receiving end of all those things, and the helplessness that comes along with it. Yeah, you get used to it, just like you get used to anything. This time those that go will be fighting on the side that's outnumbered, outgunned and doesn't enjoy material and technical superiority. It's a very different kind of war/combat. I also think the press in the West paints a very distorted picture of what is really happening with the fighting.

I've only taken mortar fire (home built mortars the taliban used + what Iranians etc gave them). It's probably way worse taking missiles, howitzer fire, etc. Let alone being hit by drones, air strikes, attacked by gunships etc...

i know what war means i was 16 years old and i survived 3 days we had nothing to eat or drink serbian and russian soldiers attacked my country together and fought. A soldier fights against a soldier and not against civilians who had no weapons, there were women, children, old people. as long as i live i will never forget it but i survived i know that there are also volunteers from kosovo to fight for ukraine and they also came i hope everything will be fine.

This. And I say this as someone who's been to Afghanistan. Even many vets don't know what they're getting themselves into. It's one thing to fight against lightly armed sandal warriors, while enjoying total air supremacy and a gunship or air strike only one radio call away. And a totally different one, being on the receiving end of such, being hit with large caliber artillery, missile strikes, etc.
I've seen combat, and it's scary. Anyone who says they're not scared is a liar. Yes, it's also a rush, and some people miss it. But I can't imagine what it's like to be on the receiving end of all those things, and the helplessness that comes along with it.
Yeah, you get used to it, just like you get used to anything.
This time those that go will be fighting on the side that's outnumbered, outgunned and doesn't enjoy material and technical superiority. It's a very different kind of war/combat.
I also think the press in the West paints a very distorted picture of what is really happening with the fighting.
The picture I see is pretty grim, not sure what you mean.
But the reality is, this needs to be done. And the ukes don’t look that helpless to me.

All you can do is take cover and pray you're not hit/hit by shrapnel.
I've only taken mortar fire (home built mortars the taliban used + what Iranians etc gave them).
It's probably way worse taking missiles, howitzer fire, etc. Let alone being hit by drones, air strikes, attacked by gunships etc...
Let’s hope these volunteers all have military training before, otherwise, they are only there to die, or even worse, cause more civilian casualties.

Seems like China, Finland and Israel are our best bets in talking sense to Putin. These countries haven't added fuel to the fire and their leaders are the only ones Putin seems willing to talk to. At the Olympics China gave the approval for Russia to invade but now they know Russia may fail and this could escalate to a nuclear war. Peace ☮
Muslim countries at the most also want to remain neutral, while some of their population show pro Russia tendencies .
