do take note that for ccl in-train chimes, they are present in ONLY C830C trains and in the marina bay - stadium shuttle sector. If either of these 2 conditions do not meet, the chime will NOT be heard
having lived in seoul for a few months, they have arrival chimes about 30s before the train arrives too. this helps when i am walking down the stairs to figure out if i need to go a little faster to not miss my train or just be chill because i'd know my train is not here yet.
I've been listening to these chimes here to get used to them as I'm suffering from mild anxiety and these prolonged and loud chimes have consistently triggered heightened anxiety and occasionally leading to breakdowns during extended rides. While I fully appreciate the intent behind the new initiative to cater to the visually impaired, I really hope they can lower the volume or shorten the chimes.
I have heard of these chimes for a while and while they do sound good, my only complaint is that the chimes are sometimes muffled by the train sound while you're inside the train, or don't sound loud enough
7:15 no more announcement in tanah merah due to construction ongoing was a quarter away from finishing and too much ppl complaining of the speaker being to loud.
Station jingles just right for Singapore, consisting of Chinese, Malay and Tamil culture. Good try, but some improvements might be made in the future I guess... In the Republic of Korea, train jingles often inspired by Korean traditional music(국악) or the location(ship horn or seagull near seashore). In Japan, some subway jingles are inspired by its local culture, others are just composed by local composer.
Bishan, Braddell, Toa Payoh, Novena, Newton, Orchard, Somerset and Dhoby Ghaut also have arrival melodies. When you go home or going to the other next station, you will hear it
Chimes are too fast, too many notes, repetitive, have no meaningful way of telling them apart. Maybe they should just use the old ones for normal stops, and then play a few notes of the chime in sequence as the train reaches the next interchange.
They extended the chime trial, only in NSL(only in underground stations and trains), EWL(only in trains), CGL(only in trains), CCL(only the station that was featured in this video), was extended chime till 30 April 2024, so I will send a report to SMRT to remove the chime to revert this shitty chimes off to revert to old chime again.
Thanks for taking the time to record all of the audio! Must've been a lot of work!
This feels like we're in japan!
no it does not. it feels like we are wannabes…
@@livein54321 whats tht
then why are you hating on singapore and the smrt team?
@@livein54321 I have to agree, only OGs will remember "The Train is Coming, The Train is Coming, The Train is COMINGGGGGG....."

Idk why but these melodies reminded me of the "love your ride" by dim sum dollies played in mrt stations around a decade or so ago
Lol.everytime when I used to go to secondary school. I used to hear them on the train rides. Forgotten about them. It felt like yesterday
i miss love your ride train is coming melody man they should revamp it
Bosses absolutely hated them. They did not last long.
That's much better.

9:56 Oh yeah there are no announcements to Habourfront so there is no arrival chime!
The departure melodies are on the trains itself! (source: went overseas n could clearly hear it on the train speakers to Changi)
Apparrently the two songs for each line- can be played tgt to form a new song (a tidbit that Teng Company released today)
Me and my mom yesterday listened to the new chimes taking a train from Tiong Bahru to Buona vista.
It feels like Christmas every day
would you think it’s worth it? since for the old announcement, “the train approaching platform _ will end its service at __” seems useful enough

Northbound and southbound new chimes at 12:00 to 12:30.
I think 'we will get there' would be a melody for the north east line
I have heard of these chimes for a while and while they do sound good, my only complaint is that the chimes are sometimes muffled by the train sound while you're inside the train, or don't sound loud enough
Next when in Circle Line Train, I will turn my music softer to hear the new chimes
How come when CGL branch train reach tanah merah it play a SMRT Chime d not SMRT chime E?
When I first heard the chimes, I felt I was travelling overseas
