Singapore MRT Map Expansion
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 січ 2022
- As the Singapore rail network continues to expand, its visual representation in the form of System Maps has to change to fit new lines and stations while maintaining a clean look. Watch how the System Map has evolved four times in more than 30 years since the opening of the first stretch in 1987.
Proposed future lines and line extensions and their interchanges are speculations based on locations and alignments of soil investigation works. As of December 2021, no official announcement has been made on the exact route alignment. These lines are denoted as dotted strokes in this video.
The dates for the commencement of rail services from 2022 are to be advised. Names, station codes and colours of future lines and stations are to be announced.

6:43 The Merlion spitting water is such a nice detail!
This is the highest quality animation I've seen for evolution of any rail network evolution and definitely much better than the last one on your channel! Loved the style that changes through the ages, that's unbelievable effort right there.
Thank you for your kind words!
I know
@@bananasolid i need help to make this
i love mrt maps
I like mrt maps too
I hope I live long enough to see all the mrt lines completed 😁 thanks for the great graphics and timeline. I still have fond memories taking my first mrt at clementi when it opened. Good Times 😍
LTA should hire you
LTA should hire you
LTA should hire bananasolid
I really thought this was by the LTA sia
Ture
yeah LTA shouldnhire you
It's not just watching a public transport system grow and change is it? It's watching a culture/polity/nation grow and change to meet the challenges of a new and emerging world. Every frame, every new station, is an expression of the cutting edge of that emerging world
Yeah this is the process of Singapore developing from a third world country to a first world country.
🤓
I love how the present-day (2022) is just slightly after the halfway mark; in a way, it's symbolic of how much the MRT network has grown, and how much it still has to grow.
You've done an incredible job sticking as close to to the official styles used by the LTA as possible.
I Like Your Channel
superb attention to detail with the map style changes and LTA Identity, whatever research you did has definitely paid off
Can’t believe the first map had two colours, each representing one direction! Would have made sense then, but as so many new rail lines are being built colours would have to be freed up for them.
that transition to the single coloured modern lines we have now at 2:04 😮💨😮💨😮💨
7:41 I love the RTS symbol!

I only remember the switch from 2 colours per line to each line being single colour only. Nv noticed the other subtle changes

I love the way this video was presented! Very very pleasant and entertaining to watch! How I wish Singapore can build more mrt tunnels and be among the countries with the longest railway tunnels, a great honor to Singapore. How I wish to see mrt going to the different islands too in the future like Semakau, Tekong, Bukom, Jurong Island, etc.
There are still so many mega projects Singapore is capable of doing! What a great country! 👏👌👍
Islands sound a bit ambitious, tho I think the Jurong one is fine.😅
That's the old MRT system map from my childhood! Thanks for the throwback to it in this high-quality animation!
Version 1 Map: There are two colors on one line, the font is Arial, the stop is a black circle, the station names near the stops are normal text, the only LRT station names are small size, and the interchange station names are bold text with large size, with the name "Interchange" on the bottom. The code near the stop has one letter and one number, the letters are N, E, W, C, M, B, and A.
Lines: North-South Line, East-West Line, Branch Line, and Bukit Panjang LRT.
Version 2 Map: There is only one color on one line, the font is Ocean Sans (station names), LTA Identity (station codes), the stop is a pointer color, the interchange stops are a circle cross-platform interchange or in transfer, the station names near the stops are normal text, the only LRT station names are small size, and the MRT station names with terminus are bold text. The code near the station name has two letters and one number, the letter codes are NS, EW, CG, and BP. New letter codes: STC, SE, NE, SW, PTC, and PE.
New Lines: Sengkang LRT, North East Line, Punggol LRT, and Circle Line.

The code on the stop has with a name has two letters and one number. New letter codes: DT, and PW.
New Lines: Downtown Line.
Note: The SW8 station is Renjong, but you've typed Ranggung.
Version 4 Map: There is only one color on one line, the font is LTA Identity, the stop is a station code, the interchange stops are big station codes, the station names near the station codes are normal text, and the only LRT station names are small size. The code on the stop has with name has two letters and one number. New letter codes: TS, DE, TE, JS, JW, JE, CR, CP, and SL.
New Lines: Thomson-East Coast Line, Jurong Region Line, Cross Island Line, and Seletar Line.
nice catch on renjong
Thanks for the old school line colours illustration, still remembers the dual colour EW/NS lines and the Bukit Batok brown lines. Sure brought back lots of memories.
Damn, the amount of effort spent here is massive, and the video shows that. Thanks for making this
Very impressive work! The graphics and animations are amazing, not to mention the research put into making this. Great job!👍
Excellent animation of the stations and dates. The best I have seen.
Wow the editing is unbelievable
Love the aesthetic and bg music! Feels so Mini Metro!
Wow, I did not expect "part 2" of the original video to come out, and this is equally amazing!
bus boy?
The 9th MRT Line forms a second way to ease the crowds on the North South Line. And I'm hoping the West Coast Extension will be be feasible.
im suspecting JRL would do that as an extension from Pandan Reservoir down to Haw Par Villa as many speculations have arisen. it'd be cool to see a line from pasir ris - punggol - yishun to disconnect many emergency TPE bus routes
@@iis3706 maybe they could extend the punggol extension of crl from punggol to yishun
The 10th MRT line will be from Tengah via Bukit Batok, Ulu Pandan, Holland Village, Jelita, Napier, Bukit Purmei, Southern Waterfront, Shenton Way and Esplanade.
@@TimothyMokCJ what's the MRT line name tho ?
@@Yangboy_Abyssgard Probably Tengah Line...
Awesome work!! Whatever software you used here is fantastic indeed.
When I saw the old signage especially the BPLRT, I want to cry. So nostalgic
Will there ever be a station between HarbourFront and Outram Park? NE2?
I think its called Kampong Bahru
This looks therapeutic 😊
Animations are so smooth! What a pleasure to watch. Cheers!
A review of Singapore’s past & future. Keep up the good work!
And also, most names of stations in the dotted lines have already been announced
(This comment was posted on 2024)
Very accurate description of how the map developed over the years, except you forgotten the version revamp for the NEL. The first refresh you shown was for the CCL revamp.
This is the first time I’ve heard about the Seletar line. When I saw it pop up I felt like I was watching post-credits in the MCU films
Man I live in Fernvale can’t wait for the new line to come!!
@@Al-RaeesMost likely Fernvale station as an interchange may not be feasible for the Seletar Line as there might not be enough space to build such MRT station. Highly likely that Jalan Kayu will be an MRT station instead.
small mistake: 2:06, 2:19-2:22: Expo and Changi extension were named EW28 and EW29 respectively for a few years at first. Otherwise, great vid!
CG1 Expo and CG2 Changi Airport is correct. CGL is the Changi Airport Branch line.
U guys from singapore?
I am
@@Bang_TholeCC206 yea, what I'm referring to was that those 2 stations were named EW28 and 29 for abt 1-2 yrs before they were renamed to the CG1 and 2 u know today. Bet u weren't born yet when it happened lol
@@nhy123123 Oh yeah?
@@Bang_TholeCC206 The two stations of the CGL Branch line were called EW28 and EW29 briefly in 2001-2002, before being called CG1 and CG2. I hope that helps make things clearer for you.
This is just what I needed.
Man, I love this video.
Bananasolid is my favourite UA-camr
When are you going to post another video? This is an excellent animation!
All these stations added and removed is with sync with Singapore’s growing future and what made the country today. This is what energized my excitement when going to Singapore. There is still room for this country to grow on. This is absolutely amazing. LTA should hire this guy. Love Singapore from the Philippines!
Singapore has grown so much 😭❤❤ I only know of the Cross Island line and Jurong region line and closing up of circle
The editing is smooth and clean.
OMG THIS WAS LIKE RELIVING MY CHILDHOOD THANK YOU
The old map gave me nostalgia
the details of every single line is very good~
your style of presenting the lines is loving too
keep up the good work ~
Genius..not the MRT plans but your work here.
Which music were used in this video? They sound really nice.
Singapura oh Singapura you are a Jewel of a city for the future !Thank you Mr.Lee .❤
i cannot believe that just a year before i was born there were only 2 mrt lines in this country. i remember doing a project about this in 2014, when the downtown line was newly opened, and staring at the LTA's 2030 plan in awe because i couldnt imagine what a singapore with all these lines would be like! now i cannot imagine a singapore without these newly opened lines, let alone the singapore from before i was born, before the mrt. the mrt is truly such a huge part of this country.
I love how when its 1989 and East West Line gets its 2A Extension to Tanah Merah, it just randomly get another 2A Extension to Pasir Ris
Very impressive!
That's probably the most amazing public transport map I've ever seen!
The fact that they have already planned out the stations well into the 2030s is impressive. Will be interesting to see how accurate this video will be in the future.
2022 I went to Singapore Gardens by the bay there was a fence and I stand up and saw the Thomson east coast line station gardens by the bay station I was like ooooo
So excited! But i may not be able to live to see the 9th MRT Line completed in full. Still, very much excited for the future generations!
There was also a possibility that the CRL can be used as an Express Train Service when it was first announced back in 2013. I hope it can be a reality one day. lol

Amazing video! Love it!
I really love the music.. may I know who composed it
Extremely well done! Thank you very much!
Once I went o n holiday here and my hotel was called (yea I don’t remember) but there were like 4 stations in the area! The closest one was Tanjong Pagar.
Very detailed on directions of trains! Keep going!
that was therapeutic, thanks.
Could not believe my eyes when seeing the Merlion spitting water over there, thanks for making it and I had a great 12-minute with this impeccable video!
High quality edit 👍🏻
This is the best thing ever. And also I drew the whole MRT map
Chanced upon this got to say goodjob!!
9:47 New stations on Cross Island Line 2: Turf City, King Albert Park (Interchange), Maju, Clementi (Interchange), West Coast, and Jurong Lake District.
in love with this video
This is therapeutic to watch. Our future will be so exciting and convenient 😌
Nice expansion video you made
I have also made mine: ua-cam.com/video/2brxZIZXGAM/v-deo.html
You can watch it if you like.
6:40 Merlion, Marina Bay Stands, Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay on city and Marina Bay.
Didnt know at 10:40 teck lee opened and the shell station for CCL 10:47 made me get nostalgic
This is so well made!
This is brilliant!
I looking forward for all these line will open😁
This is truly ASMR🎉❤
Very cool!
Now i hope for north south line to extend to serve marina south extension, east west line to serve the future reclaimed land at pasir ris, split into two branches, one west side & the other east side. The land reclamation were in the land use plan 2013.
Where is NE2
Top 10 questions science still can't answer
But seriously tho this is a beautiful video the hours put into this must be insane
NE2 has most likely been canceled and the station code may be given to Outram Park instead, since there’s no use for the station to be built when the CCL will be serving the same area when the extension opens.
We may even see a whole network station code rework in the future as many more infill stations & extensions are being added as well. (might happen right before the next Map Redesign or before the Seletar/Central line finalises.)
@@STANSAT10N NE2 is an unconfirmed station: Kampong Bahru
WOW! Just to add: Before the signage change in 2001, NEL was pink/purple when the line was under planning/construction.
Ah yes, my favouite national rail system.
AMAZING, THANKS!
This vid deserves way more views for how good the animation is
I like it!The to be announced is on 11 nov 2022(Singapore date)
Could you do another evolution video? As some of these rail projects have opened or delayed based on the COS 2024 updates
In the future, is Tanah Merah to Changi Airport NSEWL systems retrofit to TEL systems with TEL rolling stock? Or just a code name change
You are so IT savvy!
❤ this is so good.
Today is 24th April 2024. Here is what at least I have heard as of now:
- TEL Stage 4 has been handed over to SMRT by LTA. They are currently doing final testing to prepare for the station opening. Grand opening has been planned on 23rd June 2024, with a public preview on 21st June.
- Over the past 4 months, CCL has been running shuttle service between Labrador Park and Harbourfront to facilitate connection works between Harbourfront and Marina Bay stations. This is only my guess, but there could be a possibility that the Circle Line could finally become a full circle, earlier than scheduled. (aka the Singapore Yamanote Line, lol)
- JRL construction (early stages) is currently in full force around the Boon Lay, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Bukit Batok and Tengah areas. Supporting pillars are currently being constructed in many of these areas, and for Tengah area, they are constructed in the middle of new roads, currently closed off to traffic. It seems that the MRT tracks and stations are constructed alongside new developing HDB blocks and should be ready simultaneously in the future.
This is great! Nice work! You would be able to get to almost anywhere on the island using the MRT, and it's cost effective too. Would love to see one of these videos of Bangkok if you get the chance!
New lines!😊
this is good quality. i love u
I will miss the airport brach line CGL is gone forever and not coming back for the CGL:(
Seletar Line will not gonna be name like that. It could be something else. Just like the Circle Line. It was previously known as the Marina Line. @ZC mention about it. But they will change the name of the new MRT 2040. I still called it MRT 2040 because they havent announced the name yet.
I am amazed at how Singapore MRT grew. I came and study in Singapore because my dad helped make the Nort-East Line and Circle Line projects. Back then, there were just North-South and East-West Line. The animation and future projects are simply exciting for me. Thank you so much.
Impressive video . Even feature future Seletar line . My 6 yo son found this video and show to me ! Nice background music too.
So cute graphics n relaxing the watch :)
Exzellent Video!
the animation style is satisfying af
Good animation, it brought a lot of my old memory back.
So cool
Firstly, this animation is smooth as heck I love it. It respects the timeline while showing the opening of every station in a sleek way.
Secondly, I CANT WAIT TO TRY THE NEW TRAINS OMGGG especially RTS that will be soooo pog oh my god.
Imagine going from Hougang to Marina Bay in a jiffy I seriously can't wait
Lastly, whoever is coming up with the station names for the newer and future stations need a raise they sound so badass
