I did this trip a few years ago. I had started from Venice and went to Geneva through this tunnel! You cross the valley of Aosta and reach the tunnel, while above are sections of the Alps! Fantastic route and amazing tunnel! I passed from Italy to France and from there I arrived at my destination in Geneva! Unforgettable route!
A much more exciting experience (and you can leave your car in the carpark for your return) is to cross into Italy via the highest cable cars in Europe - a death defying experience that takes you above the clouds and you're not in an airplane.!! At the summit, you change to an Italian cable car for the descent into Italy. You need to walk slowly at the top (an aircraft would already be pressurised at that height!!!). Afterwards you can quickly return on the bus or train to pick up your car. I'm not sure what on-line details you can get in English (I have only ever looked in french). And from what I remember, you have to go into an Italian site for the second stage. Or just simply turn up and go. Provided the European school/college holidays haven't started, there's usually no problem, and early morning departures are always good, wherever you go. Bonne route !
Hola Gabrielle, buenas tardes y buen Domingo. Que lindo video que te filmaste. Mostrandonos esta gran obra vial y el hermoso paisaje en que se encuentra. Me gusto mucho. Muchas gracias por registrarlo todo y compartirlo con todos nosotros. Muy buen trabajo. Segui adelante. Gracias Gabrielle.
Such an amazing video Friend!I'm so delighted to see Mont Blanc Tunnel.I would absolutely like to be there!Welcome to Kenya-Africa and get to experience our culture and wild animals.
This is a great example of European expertise at its finest. The efficiency displayed handling traffic is certainly world leading and the toll is a real bargain. The designers, builders and operators of highways and tunnels in mountainous areas of China should come to the Alps and learn.
lol. Experitse? A queue. Manual tolling. That’s efficiency? We have toll tags and cars drive through with no queues. That’s about as mid 20th century and backward as they come. What I’m looking at appears designed to create congestion.
I remember the 17km tunnel in Switzerland it was an amazing experience since it was 15 minutes without sun which makes the temperature inside the car so hot! I also remember we had travelled between Switzerland and Italy by train, 21 km of pure darkness!
Beautiful ! Remember : it's 70 km/h with at least 2 or 3 radar velocity inside the tunnel, so be carreful and you have to maintain 2 blue spot Light between your vehicle and the vehicle front of you (= 150 m). Benvenuti al traforo del monte bianco !!
@@Malik_Sylvusmate. Are you 10 years old? It was built 60 years ago. Its cost would have been well and truly repaid by now. Even with the cost of maintenance and employee costs that’s still a lot of money. And if you think a queue on the Italy side of several kms long and sitting in it for an hour plus is efficient and cost effective. I can travel the alternate route of 50 km in the time people are waiting to go through the tunnel.
This drive through the Mont Blanc Tunnel is absolutely breathtaking! The way the video transitions from the majestic French Alps to the stunning Italian landscapes is mesmerising. 🚗🌄 Which part of this scenic road trip did you enjoy the most-France or Italy?
Not sure when this tunnel was completed, but if in the 1960s than I remember we drove thru' it on the way to Lake Garda What happens if you break down - don't see any telephones. Whar happened to the trucks?
Mont Blanc Tunnel opened in 1965. If you have a problem with your car there are emergency areas every 750 m, and the tunnel is completely under video surveillance, a slowing car is immediately spotted and the traffic is stopped at the toll booths. Emergency personnel intervenes in maximum 3 minutes (there are 3 emergency stations, 2 at the entries and one in the middle of the tunnel). In case of emergency you can also leave your car and enter the emergency rooms, located on the east side of the tunnel (they are very visible, contourned by green lights), where you find an emergency communication system and, in case of fire, you will be evacuated by a pedestrian passage underneath the road.
Indeed. The syntax of the article on Wikipedia is a bit strange. The tunnel is 2480 m beneath the top of the mountain. The tunnel itself is between 1200 and 1300 m high, otherwise trucks could not reach it.
You can see that yourself: They arrive at the toll-gate queue at 6:16, and the barrier is lifted at 9:48, so, assuming there were no edits, the wait was only a few minutes.
The tunnel is going under heavy renovation works, it is 60 years old and needs continuous renovations; it will be closed for 3 months every year for 15 years for a complete rebuild of the road pavement and infrastructures
Although I have not seen the tunnel from inside due to slowness of the net yet from outside the scene is spectacular and amazing an engineering feat.///. Afzaal Mahmood sindhu Chak 19 SB Tehsil kotmomin District Sargodha Pakistan.
You must take account that the tunnel is 60 years old and when it was built 1 lane was sufficient. Speed limit was 80 km/h till the fatal accident in 1999 where 43 people died because a truck burned inside and developed toxic fumes. From the reopening in 2003 the limit was reduced to 70 km/h and a compulsory distance between vehicles of 150 m was enforced.

The Mont Blanc Tunnel is outdated for the present time . Look at those line of cars and trucks waiting to get in the tunnel ... The Tunnel should be double . Best way to cross the Alps by land is using the train - high speed trains between France and Italy . 👍

What is wrong why are there so many cars waiting to enter the tunnel if it is an everyday scene then why are they not developing a pass over the mountains this trip was for me to claustrophobic and too long, the scenery is beautifully, but the roads needs attention too small for all those cars, and trucks.
You want a pass on the highest mountain in Europe??? We are fortunate to have the tunnel, otherwise the link between Italy and France could be made only during summer and on a windy mountain route
Il ne faut pas se venter de notre savoir faire il a fallut des morts et des morts pour avoir une amélioration des conditions de circulation dans ce tunnel il reste encore à faire on ne s appuie jamais sur ces acquis ont les amélioré c est mon point de vue

crazy crazy PRICE for tunnel
this must be the half.....
The tunnel cost billions to build, if you take another route you'll pay 50 euros only in fuels + 50 euros highways and spend more time.

Very nice video, just one correction: the tunnel portals are at an altitude of around 1300m, not 2400m.

the queue started way before and a major part was skipped
From where it was stopped in queue, and counting that he got also a truck convoy before him, based on my experience it's about 25 minutes
