Crazy Upcycle Ideas

Straight up, this is one crazy upcycle leather messenger bag project. In this short video I take you behind the scenes into the construction of a leather messenger bag using unique upcycled items such as an old Ohio License plate from 1969, a 1950 Mercury Hood Ornament, various vintage materials and upcycled denim jeans. The goal of this project was to create a radical messenger bag that had all of these Americana elements that represented my friends life back in a small town of Ohio. The leathercraft bag is new but has a strong vintage design. I am a strong advocate of using upcycled materials for many reasons. First, it prevents waste from going into some landfill. However, and this might be even more important, you can create such unique one of a kind designed items which is exactly what everyone really wants to have these days. Why carry a boring brown leather messenger bag when you can have one that gets everyone’s attention in a good way. Fashion is about being seen, which means taking risks and having courage to develop an individual style and look. This bag project aimed to create a bag so unique and one of a kind that there is no question to anyone who views the bag that it a one of a kind custom creation. Leathercraft can often be a bit restrictive and this project definitely goes off road into new and unusual directions.
