Wouldn't it be simpler to repaint the base to match the mat? Love your work, you've given me some great ideas.
You could certainly buy a swamp mat and customise the terrain to go with it but in this situation, the terrain came first mate

Thank you so much for this video. I've been sitting on some mat projects over the winter; last autumn I was making some canvas and caulking mats, but a freak rain shower caused some of the caulking to delaminate while it was curing outside. Soon I'll be able to go back outside and make the necessary repairs and I'll need to reblend the colors in the damaged areas.

Didn't think the brown would help that much, but it did.
Never would have thought of this. The idea makes me nervous but the end result is fantastic! Would it work to lighten up a mat or would it blow out the details?
Best to think of it as applying a filter, the stronger the filter, the more details get knockout out mate

I cut the lumpy root thingies off some old past it potatoes painted them some lurid colours and they are perfect for creating a nasty looking bit of jungle fit for a son of Catachan to romp in or as a sickly ,putrid looking addition to Papa Nurgles garden .
