  • In this episode I'll be making some modular river tiles for use with various tabletop RPGs, skirmish/wargames/etc. (note that there's also a gridless version of these patterns included in the pdf).
Here's the (affiliate) link to the pdf file: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/...
And (for reference) here's a few (affiliate) links to some of the materials I used:
    Label Paper: amzn.to/3VNMCCJ
    1mm Cardboard: amzn.to/3U7VUbn
    Decorative Scissors: amzn.to/4cSMXdu
(note that the brand of scissors that I have jam every now and again - so they are not the best when it comes to quality)

Your ability to look at something and then dissect it into its various paper and cardboard parts is inspiring. You've got to have quite an imagination to see things not for what they are, but for what they can become. Kudos!

I found you via DriveThruRPG. This channel is great. I have been bingewatching it these last couple days. Thank you so much for all the ideas and textures.
I like the 2.5d aspect. I used to use 3d folded walls and stairs, but they tend to get in the way and/or fall over during play.
I didn't like the exposed corrugation, so I tried other ways instead of glueing the textures to cardboard. The floor textures I have printed onto thick paper (200g/m²), which worked out great. I have folded the wall texture so the walls are textured on the sides as well. I really like how it turned out and am excited to experiment with the other textures I've downloaded as well.

And yeah... I like the idea of supplying textures rather than models (if that makes sense), as it allows folks to use them in multiple different (often inventive) ways (like you appear to be doing yourself :) ).
If you ever want to share pic's of the stuff you make, feel free to join the discord server or facebook group - as folks over there (including myself) are usually pretty keen to see how folks put some of the textures to use.

This is unbelievable! You put a lot of work on that one! I love it!
    So, I got two questions:
1 - The trees in the end. What video do you teach to do them?
2 - What is your approach to this tile not been moving around in the rpg session? It's really annoying to continuous fixing it the entire game.
I tought of glueing little magnetic sheet pieces under them, and use a large sheet or even some metal plate below to bind them.

    • @CrookedStaffTerrain
      @CrookedStaffTerrain  2 місяці тому +1

The trees are just larger versions of the 'bushes' that I made here:
      ua-cam.com/video/m72JQ5JZTKk/v-deo.htmlsi=rYfGi6JyvW1j5FEt&t=202
(though I did use the decorative edge scissors to cut out the circles, and I gave each 'level' a slight domed shape by rolling/pressing a large marble inside).
And to stop things moving around I also use bits of magnetic tape/sheets to hold things in place on a magnetic whiteboard - as you can see here:
      ua-cam.com/video/08JjYpUtifE/v-deo.htmlsi=Z81Hq7fGze_VqXvF&t=247
