Words cannot describe how amazing that was. The sense of actual power and terror living natural disasters that can destroy kingdoms, maybe the world, is described SO intimately, so Personally. No databook, or interviews, or wiki articles can give this emotion from these descriptions. and although gameplay can somewhat simulate that dread, our immortality in game equally destroys that sense of dread. THIS is how you describe the tale of Black Dragons. of Humanity's perfect enemy. And that ending. That open ending is GENIUS. Did the guild slay it? up to us to decide.
I mean in the end of MHWI’s endgame story we do kill fatalis, I think the better question is did that master rank hunter live the fatalis fight. Personally with no more entries I believe it implies he is dead.
I absolutely love the narration in this chapter, it reminds me of the great Lovecraft stories told entirely through journal entries, like “At the Mountains of Madness.” Superb job, you outdid yourself!
@@Passione_Offical_Channel or He got heavily injured to the Point where they Had to Bring him to one of the Main cities for Recovery while the Book still remained at Schrade. Which gives this otherwise very dark Story a happier Ending
@@lucastolter6344 Not unless the body of Fatalis still exists. One of the lore theories states that it can regenerate from a single cell. This is based off its cousin the Dire Miralis
@@pillarmenn1936 as far as i remember ,and dont state me on that,it is a fact . If i remember right in one of the many japanese artbooks they actually wrote about the Connection of the 3 fatalis. White beeing the original fatalis that Destroyer Schrade and then left . Black fatalis which is the Offspring of white fatalis and stayed at the castle because it is His birthplace but then leaving it badly wounded because of the Hunters which leads to him Turning Into Crimson because of the even bigger hatred against humanity (combined with the Shame of losing against Humans ) Like i said im Not 100% Sure but it Sounds pretty possible to me . This way it would be explainable why Crimson has Horns of different Size ( because we have to Break on in the Quest )and why He lives in such a secluded area. It would also explain why White fatalis would suddenly Show Up at Schrade after we "killed" black fatalis
Fun fact: In Xeno’Jiiva’s cutscene, when it first emerges from the egg, you can see it curiously looking around, as if it’s taking in its environment, learning…..
"No further entries remain" If my jaw could drop off my face without killing me it would. As if this whole video, essentially a horror movie, wasn't chilling enough that ending stinger left me cold inside. Monster Hunter really is scarier than anyone realizes, and you got that across perfectly.
Yeah. The fact that the Player hunter can solo all of those massive dragons and not become traumatised is almost eldritch Horror levels of confusing to me.
"No Further Entries Remain" I cannot imagine a better way for you to have ended this, I was expecting the hunters to triumph or flee and give us one last entry of the aftermath and how Fatalis was their greatest challenge yet but not even confirming it, and leaving it on that one line gets the message perfectly across. Absolutely masterful
The open ended ending is genius, I love to think that he won, at the cost of losing his sanity afterwards, which led to him creating an armor from the slain black dragon, vowing to slay all black dragons to protect humanity, then the next entries are about him hearing things while wearing the armor up to the point where he's beyond saving and secludes himself only to become the next Fatalis.
I...I don't think I can look at monster hunter the same. I can't think funny hammer go bonk anymore. Straight up this style of recollection should be turned into a TV series. This is a prime example of how a story in monster hunter can be good, not the random events in nature being the focus, but the groups of hunters exploring that nature, and the horrors that lie beyond it.
Imagine if the live action or even just a regular animated monster hunter was done in an episode like fashion With the final build up heading to the black dragon It would be amazing instead of what we got with the movies
I’m expanding upon the world rn for a dnd campaign, and for world lore sake I’ve determined three major events that took place over the games: the Monoblos Incident of Kokoto, the Ceadeus Encounter of Moga, and the Frenzy Event of Val Habar. Any one of these would be a great smaller plot for an episodic show. Edit: also working on the seregios and Kushala movements, but the point is that the world has had so many problems with monsters that the guild is now desperate to understand them bc killing them isn’t working.
“No further entries remain” What a perfect, beautifully haunting way to end it. I imagine most people are interpreting that as in the hunter perished in the fight. I have an alternative interpretation. The Hunter survived. He killed the Fatalis, perhaps even being the only one left, a survivor purely because the rest died first whilst wearing it down. But he is so tormented, broken, perhaps his sanity finally snapped that he could not write a new entry… or perhaps he did recover but refuses to even touch his journal again, refuses to write more about Fatalis, cannot bring himself to even try and put words to the haunting memories of that Demon. And that notion feels perfect for a monster like Fatalis that is almost Cosmic Horror worthy.
As a story, this was absolutely the best out of all of the episodes for this series. It enthralled me through the whole watch time, and it's a genuinely interesting twist to just COMPLETELY toss the documentary format for Black Dragons, rather than try to piece together ecology details for them.
@@cardboardcrafter2482 "Black Dragon" is less specific to the color and more the power of the creature. If you want to get technical it's "First Class Dangerous Monster", but Black Dragon is the shorthand for it.
@@LEGOBoy922 do you remember where it's stated that Safi is a first class dangerous monster? I heard it repeated a few times, but without a source and am interested in reading on it.
Writing the black Dragons as if they're Lovecraftian horrors is fantastic. Awesome stuff man, hope this isn't the end of your MonHun series but understand if you take a break for a while after it
Yeah I gotta add on to this; I was expecting you to do another mockumentary. I was VERY wrong - making them out to be eldritch horrors beyond even the defiance of nature that Elder Dragons normally do.
@@Rat-King27 Red Dragon isn't a classification. Black Dragon is an easier suffix than saying they're a First Class Dangerous Monster. It's just that the 'flagship' or most iconic ones happen to bear Black Scales. It's also confirmed that as of when we fought it it wasn't quite yet at Black Dragon levels - but it showed it had that real potential. I'm iffy on it rivaling Fatalis if given time but it does make sense it still had 'room to grow' Plus it was stated its scales would darken, so...
@@Rat-King27 As I said - they're Dangerous First Class Monsters, the name Black Dragon just stuck around much like how Fatalis's name isn't officially 'Fatalis', but it just stuck since it was a rather fitting moniker for a terrifying concept.
Dude the description of what a hunter goes through during Escaton judgment, I never realized what could be going on during the hunters hp draining. Being engulfed in an inferno, Blizzard, then strucked by lightning at the same time in an agonizing slow death? Holy shit, can you imagine the will to not give up after barely surviving...
World really gave that sense that black dragons are these almost eldritch powerhouses of beings And this documentary solidifies it, the lore and subtext ingame paints a terrifying picture, but this... this was art Recounting how utterly hopeless it feels to fight just 1 black dragon just shakes me to the core, as it should
This was amazing, the storytelling was fantastic and felt so real The way Black Dragons are described is so terrifying and puts them way above Elder Dragons Since Elders are natural disasters that don’t mean to be a problem Black Dragons are Cataclysms with the intent of causing destruction That description of the Judgement was fucking haunting
I know what it feels like to go to hell and back with Alatreon from the Old World and to the New World. This Black Dragon truly broke me and I don't say that about a lot of wyverns or elder dragons. Once you fight a Black Dragon, you will never come out the same again.
i want to share the excitement, the escaton judgement moment really terrify me. i can imagine how that really felt for the hunter witnessing such horror. truly masterclass
You know what the worst part of this is? Those sick bastards at the guild brought along all the newbies, implying they expected them to be easy monster food, and just wanted to beat Fatalis through sheer force of numbers, and hopefully overwhelm it by throwing too many little meatsacks at it.
Holy fucking shit. Imagine the terror of the newbs, the hunters so inexperienced that toppling an Anjanath is considered a victory worth celebrating. Their weapons would never even be able to scratch Fatalis' hide and their armour would've crumpled like soggy paper against it's claws, let alone it's flames. Monster Hunter is genuinely terrifying when it's not in it's usually cheerful mood of "we can do it!"
@@pracitus I mean look at what the in game situation is. I mean the thing about a fleet is very much canon and there is only so many elite hunters. In other words there are definitely newbie hunters in the fleet. Although I'm pretty sure they are there for logistics, not for a fight against fatalis

I mean, in freedom unite you get knocked off a cliff, survive and get brought back to a nearby town, and they just give you a home and place to stay if you live there and hunt monsters for them.
If I could like this 5x over I would. This kind of content is unfortunately seldom seen in our community and this experience is a testament to why that should change. The games give us a glimpse of the wider world that is Monster Hunter but it’s stories like this one that truly bring it to life. Thank you for your diligent and thoughtful work throughout this entire collection.
43:35 the description of what escalaton judgement done to that hunter is terrifying. But to me, that not the worst part. In game, in order to survive the Judgement we have out heal the damage(assuming that Alatreon’s horns have been broken). With this in mind, hunters who done this way has felt absolute agony beyond comprehension: to feel their skin frozen and melted away, their inside ravaged by lightning and one or both of their eyes bursting into flames. What made it worse is that they live through it by out healing, so they will still be in agonising pain, barely able to fight let alone slay the black dragon. The healing may help them recover from their wound, but it can only heal so much. By the time they have slay Alatreon, they would be completely disfigured beyond recognition and maimed for the rest of their lives, still living in torment.
As a guy who's only ever survived but never bested Safi Jiva cause I can't find anyone to go with, and having the fear of god in me with Fatalis that I quickly ran off to Kamura. I feel for this guy
@KennethSatria That's how I felt when I faced (not beaten) both regular and crimson fatalis and learning to have the fear of god in white fatalis in mh4u. I ran to the new world. But when I beat alatreon, my first black dragon, I had hope. And I had a hard and long fight against fatalis in iceborne, my 5 year old arch nemesis. But when I fired my ballista arrow into that fiends heart, when he fell, I roared to the heavens, probably terrifying my housemates, followed by me shouting "I AM THE DRAGON KING!!!"
@@G_54-GMG if... No, when that time comes I'll be ready to fight. When I managed to kill fatalis and when I will kill crimson, I will be ready to commit deicide. So bring it on.
@@Dragnarok1 You can fight normal White Fatalis in GU and there are rare private servers for Frontier, but are you sure you're able to comprehend what could have gotten into with Zenith White Fatalis?
Even in-universe, Fatalis is an utter enigma. There are reasonable explanations and ecological observations to be made about Safi'jiiva and even Alatreon, and proper theories have been crafted to explain their biology and behaviours. But Fatalis is truly alien. No traces of Elder Dragon Blood in its body to speak of, no mechanisms for how it's so powerful, no inkling of its origins. It just shows up and destroys, and no one has an explanation for how or why.
Fatalis ist the wrath of Nature. It does Not destroy, it protects. It portects the world from you and the genocidal guild Leaders. Fatalis never Just shows up and fucks around. You Always unlock it when you fucked around with Nature too much. In Monster Hunter 1 fatalis shows up, after you killed 50!!! Rathalos and Rathian each.
It’s strangely intelligent and practically immortal with even a sword made from its body constantly regenerating as if it’s trying to reform and many claim that with each part of armor made from it more of its spirit haunts the wearer before they eventually disappear as no one with Fatalis armor stays around for every long. Many forms of Fatalis appears from rifts in reality as if they’re not even from our world and Fatalis has been known to melt down hunters in their armor and and use them are armor for itself as if actively copying or even mocking Hunter Survival Techniques. Fatalis doesn’t feel like it belongs in the same world as everyone else, it doesn’t feel like an animal.
If this is the finale of this series I’d say you knocked my already high expectations out of the water. This was a fantastic video, one of the best monster hunter pieces I’ve ever seen! I do hope this isn’t the end of your monster hunter content, but even if it is, this is a brilliant finale, and worth all the effort you put in!
You’ve outdone yourself here, the world building, the emotion, the tension, the story of this hunter’s life and how they are changed by the things they’ve experienced. This is probably one of the best ways you could have discussed black dragons and you’ve made a brilliant story from it. Beautiful Work!
My god, this might actually be your magnum opus. I absolutely loved all your previous documentaries, they always made my day. But this... It's been a long time since I've been this captivated by a UA-cam video. This feels like it belongs on Netflix, with a big budget animation following the narration! Though the scenes and images you chose and created set the tone and atmosphere quite well. As an aspiring wanna be author myself, I have to say the storytelling in these diary entries was nothing short of phenomenal. I can only wish to reach levels of immersion and suspense this well crafted. Despite being a very limited view point, the sheer scope and terror of the existence of black dragons was something I could feel inside me the whole time. The descriptions of our hunter witnessing the unparalleled horror of their comrade's demise, combined with the intriguing secrecy of the guild, in an effort to somehow put an end to these living calamities, was just absolutely captivating from beginning to end. And the diary having it's last entry at the pinnacle of the conflict of man against nature, leaving us without a clear answer to who came out victorious, is just the cherry on top. I also enjoyed your voice acting a lot in this one. It really made the experience that much more personal and engaging. I can honestly not thank you enough for your time and effort you put into this. Not just this grandiose finale, but this entire fantastic series. I will surely find myself rewatching these whenever I crave compelling and well presented MH content. The Monster Hunter community is truly blessed by your work!
In lore or are you gonna attend med-school or something ? If its the second I did to you'll have enough time for it or can replay the games after you have Finisher whatever you are gonna do.
I love how you pottery the black dragons as not as animals like the others but rather as true monsters. The cronicals of hammer boi was an amazing story and I hope you do more video’s like this in the future.
Ok i'm not even fully done but lemme say it already: If you do this for any other MH game, make it similar to this. Theres just smth about it being out of a Hunters POV that makes it even more fun to watch than normal. Its like the usual are from a researches notes and this is from a hunters. I'm loving it. Hell, i'll even offer help with any research myself 😂 i've been around monsters for a few years now, i know a thing or two.
Ok, i finished the video now and my final thought: I hope this hunter never meets White Fatalis 😂 White Fatalis makes normal Fatalis seem like nothing but childs play
@@erubin100 The Frontier monsters aren't stronger in lore than Black Dragons (no not the Zenith Monsters either). But Frontier has its own Black Dragon who is just as terrifying and powerful als all the others.

@@Oceaniz I thought for the most part your voice acting was pretty good. My main gripe was mainly when you whispered shouted for some parts, but other than that, it sounded good.
Based on the fact that by the end it was just the writer and the lancer left, the original party is likely just the lancer and the dual blade user(unless they were the one that got with the sapphire)
I'm personally really glad the lancer survived. After all, they can block the full brunt of Fatalis' fire and even defend hunters directly behind them- as an in-game mechanic. It's cool how it was alluded to in this in-universe journal.
Don’t forget fatalis incinerated a dual blade user (he said dual sword but I think he meant blade), who might be the one that fought against xenojiva, so overall all we know of who’s left is possibly the hammer bro, lancer and insect glave girl. Heck they might be dead as well, especially hammer bro since there are no more entrees in the journal.
Dunno if this holds water, but I like to think that the insect glaive huntress is the Sapphire Star, the character we play as in World. The writer of the entries does mention that he was raised in the New World and witnessed the arrival of the Fifth Fleet.
This is sooo immersive! I can't only but imagine how much this kind of story telling to our fights in the game made it even more special. If this poor hunter written experiences were seeing by us as cutscenes before and after fighting these bosses I certainly would be hyped to the max and it would be really memorable. Amazing work!
My hunting party has a head canon death. We were 4 players, that became 3 because Alatreon absolutely broke one of my friends to the point where they put Iceborne down forever. (They're back on Rise right now tho!) That section with the "Old Gunner" character getting hit by Escaton's hit home for us. Very accurate horror in our experience. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS WHOLE VIDEO
Is anybody gonna say anything about the multiple cocoons at the bottom level of the Secluded Valley? IDK what they mean, but possibly Xeno'Jiiva cocooning multiple times or multiple Xeno'Jiiva that have already left to find their own nest, with the one that turned into Safi staying there.
Holy crap, the parts for Alatreon and Fatalis were incredible. The description of getting hit by Eschaton Judgement absolutely made my skin crawl. And the moment the hunter stared into Fatalis' eyes... (chef's kiss) I can imagine what the Hunter heard in his mind was something akin to the infamous "Hate" speech of AM, the rogue AI from Harlan Ellison's sci-fi short story _I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream_ in a deep growling voice except played backwards, and punctuated by high-pitched screeches and the screams of the damned in Schrade that Fatalis torched that fateful night. Basically 100% mind r4pe.
As Bow Gunner main, you sir made me terrified and sh*d the f*ck out of myself when your voice describe "The Gunner" demise by Alatreon. You got my admiration for this wonderful albeit terrifying twist on MH stories. (Or maybe its alrrady terrifying since the begining but me as hunter just not think much about it)
at the safi part when they mentioned the charge blade user dying, i instantly got a flashback of my first encounter with it as i am a charge blade main. i remember going at the recon with my friend and he told me to hide behind crags, i went like "imma try guarding this lmao, maybe i can survive using guard point" right as i finish my sentence the saphire orb touches the ground and i fainted, the quest failed immediately as both of us each fainted once before.
@@TheTrueUltimateGenLifeform fr, in the game i was laughing so hard at it 💀 but irl, just imagine you and your elite hunter friends fighting this unknown beast and then one of them tries to guard it to learn more about it's attack only to vanish into thin air
I love the journal style entries and it’s insanely fascinating and it just makes me wonder what else would be in that journal from his earlier days as a hunter. I wonder what his first reaction to the rotted elder dragon of Vaal hazak or maybe the first time a hunt is interrupted by the flying intruder bazelgeuse. I would love to see a “journal of a hunter” kinda series.
Oceaniz, your storytelling skills are hands down unparalleled. I would watch the hell out of this if it became adapted into some kind of anime or TV series.
The description of how Alatreon kills was chilling, probably my favorite part of the video, it’s horrifying when you consider what being bombarded with multiple forces of nature at once is like and what it does to a body
This is unbelievable. Easily my favourite in the whole series. The way the story ramps up into utter terror is fantastic. Other comments have done this more justice but wow.
20:13 Somewhere, a Rider is smirking. 30:35 Yeah, they should totally do that. Wonderful idea to cast aside any attempt to "explain" the ecology of a black dragon and just let the eyewitness do the talking. Whether there are no more entries because the hunter died in combat with Fatalis, was rendered unmotivated to continue writing, or because the diary was discovered and seized by the Guild, it's a neat trope to leave it at that. At the same time, the coincidence of events with how the player experiences the game makes me wonder if the female hunter fighting alongside this hammer wielder is the one named the "Sapphire Star" of the Commission (given it's implied strongly enough through how they refer to the 5th Fleet that the diary belongs to someone from the 4th Fleet or prior).
I was wondering "how come people don't just purge the monsters? this is easy!" then this dropped... and just realised that the main character hunter is not this guy writing a diary... the main character in all those games are just unkillable gods to the eyes of their peers. This is the actual perspective of a real monster hunter...
It's really refreshing to see these dragons and these stories from a hunter's perspective, and not from a gamer's, if only the games were this immersive Fatalis approved
BRAVO with the quality of this video, it very easily blows the rest out of the water! The whole watch was so tense and your narration only sells it further. I LOVE stories that focus more on the real implications of what happens in the games often taken lightly by the story, and you have pretty much ticked all the checks I had in mind as I watched through and through. My favorite segment has got to be the Safi'jiiva entry. It's one of my most favorite monsters so every second of it was ecstatic to me. HONESTLY! The way you described the devastating effects of Sapphire of the Emperor (a la Frontier's White Fatalis, though I initially imagined it was little milder like extreme fatal burns that roasts your body to the core due to the way it seemed) and the reveal of Safi'jiiva's molting stage--two of which are my biggest point of fixations on the topic of the monster, ABSOLUTELY astonished me and made me act like an excited child to know that someone else has the same silly idea of Safi'jiiva being merely an adolescent. It made me wish you could say even more, but I realize this is just the perspective of the hunter, and the hunter naturally knows nothing of the creature but the monster right in front of himself. Fantastic video, fantastic presentation, fantastic additions. You make Monster Hunter storywriting look like a masterpiece.
Capcom needs to hire you as a lead writer cos this is the most engaging monster hunter story ever if a games story ever came close to this it would win awards
Also there's no sign of the acr cadet like our fatalis quest where he helped a bunch and we in game even survived that. Also the guy in the video isn't familiar with the commander nor the general its implied he's not even in the fifth fleet by the fact he refers to the fith fleet as if he was just a bystander seeing it not an actual member
@@johncronk8867 He is and he is not, really... If you have played one of the Attack on Titan games, the main character was a nameless side character who was basically another POV of the story while the main characters still do their main character stuff.
Well.. I guess I was incorrect about it being the Caverns of Eldorado, but what we got I think is far better. This video may just be the greatest single piece of fan made Monster Hunter content I have ever experienced. It's easy to think of Xeno, Safi, Alatreon and even Fatalis as eventually turning into just any other monster. Something we just casually run in and kill with no worry. But this video truly encapsulated how truly terrifying all these monsters are. I never really considered the true psychological impact fighting these beasts would have on a hunter until this video. There is still one question asked within the game itself that gives me a similar feeling of dread and concern as what was portrayed by the character in your video. At the end of the Fatalis fight, after everything is said and done, the Seeker asks: "If Fatalis wasn't the one to end humanity, what will be?" And I think that is a truly terrifying question.
Whats scary...is if you look at rise, world...the black dragons in general... gaizmgorm...the arch demon of the abyss...he's NOT a black dragon In the sense. But gaiz is...a fatalis level threat lore wise...maybe worse? The quirio... his rage state. I would love to see fatalis vs gaiz honestly.
As someone who started writing stories recently, I can't imagine how long this took to write and how I could ever come close to this. The editing was also unbelievable, I've been following this series for a while and the amount of progress is absolutely staggering. This was so good it made me want to write the Fatalis battle from another hunter's perspective. I've often thought about it, but this really inspired me. This video is an absolute masterpiece to me. SPOILERS: The "eyes" part is something that really stuck out at me. The fact that Fatalis could take hunters out of commission just by looking at them really sells how terrifying it would have been to merely exist in its presence let alone attack it. There are a million other good things I could say about this story but that one really hit me.
There was no Behemoth, Kulve Tarroth and shara Ishvalda. But I am Stisfied the Trauma he went through and the Luck he had just to stay alive and witness it all. I cannot imagine what these Dragons are capable of do I would just leave it to my Imagination.
Bro, please, do more, this is by far the best MH story I've ever heard, from the pacing to the characterization of the hunter, absolutely top notch quality, you got me in the edge of my seat during most of the time, please, do more Ps: I love the idea of the hunter being traumatized and suffering PTSD from his encounters yet pressing on due to inner motivation and the burden of being a hunter
"No further entries remain" probably the scariest line I have seen in a documentary type video . It took me awhile to watch the video but it's all worth it this was amazing.
i can't even form word to describe how amazing the experience of watching this video is. the dread, the false hope, the helplessness, the terror. i love how you depict each and every monsters in a way that made them actually terrifying. while i love the lore behind all of them, i only view them as a monster in a video game. but this video actually made my perspective shifted from a player to an actual human being living in the MH world. this is very awesome and THE best monster hunter "lore" video out there. outstanding job!!!!
i really want to make a comic out of your depiction alone. i want to capture the dread of the hunter peering into fatalis evil eye. but i got no time in my hand. maybe in the future
A really unique utilization of your documentary series. I love it. I really want you do a fictional interview of a hunter who just finished a hunt like an athlete who just finished a game. I would love to see you do more collaboration with other Monster Hunter creators.
This was such a fantastic way to wrap up the series! I'm so glad you didn't abandon it after the other channel vanished due to the error. What a spectacular finish--actually chilling in some spots, and I loved your choice in where to end it. Just very good story telling all around, bravo!!!!
Banger video, this format really worked for this one. You really outdid yourself this time. Not sure if you plan to continue this series for another MH game, this entire series has been perfect all the way through and I'd love to see more. My only complaint for this video specifically is that your extensive vocabulary and immaculate grammar did sometimes conflict with the hammer-wielding author, but maybe that's just prejudice on my part. PeakFiction/10
hey man you can be smart and still unga bunga with the hammer. It's called being practical and goal oriented. I see that head, Imma smack that head. no ifs no buts no coconuts.
@@Shizn0id As an IG main that recently tried using the hammer, I have no idea what your talking about. The very second I entered the hunt all I could think was BONK
Hell fucking yes! An all out awesome documentary series with a fantastic finale. Really honestly, I already love monster hunter, but THIS, this turned it up to 11. Amazing work
Fascinating I loved your take on the hunters POV and the description was great 10/10! Also the fatalis poem gave me goosebumps storytelling 10/10 definitely subscribing!
"No further entries remain" is the best way to finish this because no concrete end could do it justice. Anyone can imagine it's own ending, what happened to the writer is merely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, he could have survived, way too scarred and damaged to consider it a "triumph", it could have died in the war, not in far enough to see the beast being slain, or they could have all failed, doomed against the power of something so unnatural that the possibility of victory was never there. Fantastic work dude!
Been watching all your content this past month to help me sleep but this i admit is your best video, i always go back to this one Your voice makes it so real "lightning shot out of his mouth as his eyeballs exploded!" Gives me chills
Amazing video, very well narrated. Also, you made me realize fighting Fatalis game a fucking PTSD or something, when i reached the part where the narrator says that he doesn't want to go back i broke down into tears. I only killed that thing once, i never crafted any of its gear, and i never looked at the fight again. I don't want to face that thing ever again. Never.
"Yet I must no time to fall apart I will face this... devil... alongside my brothers and sisters. And together we will show it what humanity is capable of. We... Are Monster Hunters, after all" Words cannot describe how cool that hammer user went out, the whole reason that I bought Monster Hunter world was because I enjoyed the fact that we were going to kill some big ass monsters. But as I enjoyed the game further I started to enjoy the war the story of it and the environment itself, in understanding what a monster hunter truly is. It is the result of what happens when you leave humanity with its biggest predators, it is the result of what happens when humanity has nothing else but to fight back even when they have fear in their heart, if my body is the heart then this switch ax my soul, and the only way to keep swinging is to survive even when the devil looks you directly in the eye.
So that was easily the greatest storytelling in like, forever. I've been a massive fan of the franchise since I learned about it in 2013 and seeing content of this caliber is unheard of, until now at least. The attention to detail and the pacing you make in your entries is remarkable, and I praise your ability to allude to the greater world of Monster Hunter. Just subscribed. I hope you can make more stuff like this, and I beg to God I get to see what else your creative mind has lying in wait.
Protip for Fatalis; always be ready to dodge from its molten ground sweeps, and stay near its hips. You can wound its rear legs individually with the clutch claw, so rack up the dragon damage with an alatreon weapon on its wounded legs until you get an opportunity to hit its head or chest. If you can hit its chest, do, as that sends it knocked down so you can hit its head. Above all, DON'T. GET. HIT. Even with maximum fire resistance and health and armor, it will TWO-SHOT you with ANY of its attacks.
This is quite literally one of the best videos i have ever seen, the Alatreon segment when you were recounting the gunner sent chills down my spine. as some of the other comments say, i don't think i can ever look at monster hunter the same again.
The unease building up The desent into terror The insanly graphic and detailed describing of the events And many more details that make this a masterpiece If this was sold as an official Monster Hunter book or novel it would be so amazing This is just an insanely good video that i did not expect from you as your other videos are great documentary type videos And then you drop this godly finale on us im out of words really how the heck do you not have like a billion subs already this video quality is unlike anything ive ever seen Edit: also if he survied fatalis the PTSD is gonna be insane
this is without a doubt my new favorite youtube video ive put a crazy amount of hours into this game and throughout all my times in the fandom ive never seen someone make such a gem of a vid. the description of escaton judgement gave me actual chills and made my arm hair stand up
When it reached the fatalis entries, it struck me on how scared I really am when fighting the black dragons, even if it's from MHFU. Fighting them just feels like a haze, true enough, that haze is what kept me from overthinking my fate when my battle resources become scarce. Especially when my weapon becomes weakened by Fatalis' armor. It's weight is unlike any other. Each stomp creates an earthquake, harder than any monster's death fall. It's devastating. Unnerving. Disorienting. Thank you for this video. It makes me realize how far my hunting skills have gone.
If you ever decide to do more ecology videos for more locations in the series, I'd love to hear more notes from Hunters, even if it's just as a footnote of them briefly talking about a monster or a place of interest
I must say, I've only clicked on this vid because I like to hear stories while I'm cooking.. I didn't expect this level of quality.. You've managed to make me feel what the hunter feel as the story progresses you've put my visions through the hunter's eyes, my senses through the Hunter's skin.. my feelings through the Hunter's heart.. The works put into the story writing, the voice-overs and the whole productions is top tier. Finally a documentary and presentation that made me breathe in sync as the character did. I feel the pain, the cower and fear, the restlessness, the confusion, the excitement, the resentment and finally, the hopelessness that the character goes through and how heavy it was. You've made me 'present' through the hunter's very own existence. Saying a 'very well done' does not do the works justice enough. You've managed to breathe someone else's life, into others' mind, heart and perception. And mind that this hunter is a fictional character in a world that the beasts does not exist! I will forever keep this production in high regards. Thank you, for the experience. I wish you all the very best.
I’ve been coming back over and over again to this video and I can’t help but love this style of yours Oceaniz. I love this entry of the story and it gets me excited to write this a story of aftermath of all of this
Words cannot describe how amazing that was.

Black fatalis which is the Offspring of white fatalis and stayed at the castle because it is His birthplace but then leaving it badly wounded because of the Hunters which leads to him Turning Into Crimson because of the even bigger hatred against humanity (combined with the Shame of losing against Humans )

This way it would be explainable why Crimson has Horns of different Size ( because we have to Break on in the Quest )and why He lives in such a secluded area.
It would also explain why White fatalis would suddenly Show Up at Schrade after we "killed" black fatalis

If my jaw could drop off my face without killing me it would. As if this whole video, essentially a horror movie, wasn't chilling enough that ending stinger left me cold inside. Monster Hunter really is scarier than anyone realizes, and you got that across perfectly.
I guess he died
@@soysauce8114 No to much trauma from the drama is what i think happen.
@@ginam5497 thus is the glory of an open ending. You get to choose what happened
Yeah. The fact that the Player hunter can solo all of those massive dragons and not become traumatised is almost eldritch Horror levels of confusing to me.
I think fatalis was destroyed but the hunter and his many hundred comrades came down with it.
The worst part is he's gonna be dead in all ways that matter.
Either Fatalis offs him, the armor makes him vanish or the PTSD claims him.
Actually from the info we know that he definitely died since we killed the fatalis
@@soysauce8114 But are we canon?
Canonically, it's the player character and whoever they have for allies who defeats Fatalis... not a random hammer wielder along for the fight....
I do like the implications that what hunters consider a good time is a Rajang filled island.
I’ve fought so many Rajang at this stage…..it would definitely a wild vacation
People who hunt Rajang just for fun are the same people who open carry to the zoo, waiting for the chimps to get a little excited. /j
ah, yes, donkey kong's wild ride
I...I don't think I can look at monster hunter the same. I can't think funny hammer go bonk anymore. Straight up this style of recollection should be turned into a TV series. This is a prime example of how a story in monster hunter can be good, not the random events in nature being the focus, but the groups of hunters exploring that nature, and the horrors that lie beyond it.
Imagine if the live action or even just a regular animated monster hunter was done in an episode like fashion
With the final build up heading to the black dragon
It would be amazing instead of what we got with the movies
Well there is a Netflix short film that comes close to being a real hunter
@@garex1939 you mean legends of the guild
I’m expanding upon the world rn for a dnd campaign, and for world lore sake I’ve determined three major events that took place over the games: the Monoblos Incident of Kokoto, the Ceadeus Encounter of Moga, and the Frenzy Event of Val Habar. Any one of these would be a great smaller plot for an episodic show.
Edit: also working on the seregios and Kushala movements, but the point is that the world has had so many problems with monsters that the guild is now desperate to understand them bc killing them isn’t working.
I can. hammer always go bonk. it doesn't matter how scary the monster is. Hammer bonk. the only change is how dangerous bonking is.
“No further entries remain”
What a perfect, beautifully haunting way to end it.
A mysterious man in a hooded robe offered him a spot in the organization that kept the secret of the black dragons... and he accepted.
Wen you are in faitalis gear you beckom him yourself so maybe the end is much worse than simply death
As a story, this was absolutely the best out of all of the episodes for this series. It enthralled me through the whole watch time, and it's a genuinely interesting twist to just COMPLETELY toss the documentary format for Black Dragons, rather than try to piece together ecology details for them.

Based on the fact that by the end it was just the writer and the lancer left, the original party is likely just the lancer and the dual blade user(unless they were the one that got with the sapphire)
There was a girl who used a insect glaive and a gunner in there too im pretty sure
I'm personally really glad the lancer survived. After all, they can block the full brunt of Fatalis' fire and even defend hunters directly behind them- as an in-game mechanic. It's cool how it was alluded to in this in-universe journal.
The Charge blade user was the one caught in the sapphire, the Gunner was, lost, in the Escaton Judgement.

Basically 100% mind r4pe.

The description of how Alatreon kills was chilling, probably my favorite part of the video, it’s horrifying when you consider what being bombarded with multiple forces of nature at once is like and what it does to a body
You are an amazing storyteller and have completely captured what it means to experience a black dragon
the alatreon part literally gave me chills
I think I’m the rider that’s smirking.
I was wondering "how come people don't just purge the monsters? this is easy!"
then this dropped... and just realised that the main character hunter is not this guy writing a diary... the main character in all those games are just unkillable gods to the eyes of their peers. This is the actual perspective of a real monster hunter...
Bro your storytelling skills are so good got me on the edge of my seat
It's really refreshing to see these dragons and these stories from a hunter's perspective, and not from a gamer's, if only the games were this immersive
Fatalis approved
Holy fuck! It´s 1 hour long? What kind of mad genius are you? And i mean this as a giant compliment. You should be proud of this master piece!
Oh, and as a side note, Capcom should absolutely hire you
BRAVO with the quality of this video, it very easily blows the rest out of the water!
Damn this really made me realise how utterly terrifying it would be to live in the monster hunter universe
I would still like it if I am an Main Character
@@iloverpgs1052 Dude, THIS VIDEO IS THE ACCOUNT OF THE MAIN CHARACTER
@johncronk8867 wait like the main character in the video or in the game we don't die in the game I think that's what the other person's saying ,no?
We keep Fatalis alive with greed so sin will craw up and kill all, or white Fatalis got mad one day.
Oh that's not such a hard question. It's prolly White Fatalis
Behemoth was a creature from a parallel universe (Final Fantasy), so it would not count
@@unicorntomboy9736 I know but have experience fighting that in World and the Lesher it was a nightmare.
"Listen up! We're gonna have another ship join us from the old world!"
Ocean: *IM ALREADY NOT LIKING THIS SHIT MAN!!*
Bro, please, do more, this is by far the best MH story I've ever heard, from the pacing to the characterization of the hunter, absolutely top notch quality, you got me in the edge of my seat during most of the time, please, do more
Ps: I love the idea of the hunter being traumatized and suffering PTSD from his encounters yet pressing on due to inner motivation and the burden of being a hunter
Been watching all your content this past month to help me sleep but this i admit is your best video, i always go back to this one
Your voice makes it so real "lightning shot out of his mouth as his eyeballs exploded!" Gives me chills
Never.
I killed it a bunch of times. To hell with that weak beastie.
"Yet I must
no time to fall apart
I will face this... devil... alongside my brothers and sisters.
And together we will show it what humanity is capable of.
We... Are Monster Hunters, after all"
Words cannot describe how cool that hammer user went out, the whole reason that I bought Monster Hunter world was because I enjoyed the fact that we were going to kill some big ass monsters.
Congratulations.
*You managed to trigger my fight or flight response*
That was brilliant, what a storytelling. I would definetly see a series on this format. Thank you so much
This is quite literally one of the best videos i have ever seen, the Alatreon segment when you were recounting the gunner sent chills down my spine. as some of the other comments say, i don't think i can ever look at monster hunter the same again.
The unease building up
The desent into terror
The insanly graphic and detailed describing of the events
And many more details that make this a masterpiece
If this was sold as an official Monster Hunter book or novel it would be so amazing
This is just an insanely good video that i did not expect from you as your other videos are great documentary type videos
And then you drop this godly finale on us im out of words really how the heck do you not have like a billion subs already this video quality is unlike anything ive ever seen
Edit: also if he survied fatalis the PTSD is gonna be insane
this is without a doubt my new favorite youtube video ive put a crazy amount of hours into this game and throughout all my times in the fandom ive never seen someone make such a gem of a vid. the description of escaton judgement gave me actual chills and made my arm hair stand up
When it reached the fatalis entries, it struck me on how scared I really am when fighting the black dragons, even if it's from MHFU.
HOLY GUAC THAT DESCRIPTION OF THE OLD HUNTER IN ESCATON JUDGMENT GAVE ME SHIVERS
I have been a fan since FU but never has the mh world felt more alive, connected, and REAL than your videos.
I’ve been coming back over and over again to this video and I can’t help but love this style of yours Oceaniz.
I love this entry of the story and it gets me excited to write this a story of aftermath of all of this
The way he explained escaton judgment is just scary
