The lyrics of the song talk about abandoned children. As not all of us came into the world out of love. The band “grupa Bolero” often talks about emotional and social topics in their songs. Most unique ex Yu band. Truly authentic and original.
Kultna grupa. Bolero su prepoznavali i slusali samo odabrani. Duhovno i emotivno emancipovani ljudi .
Bolero is a great band from the former Yugoslavia. They are just releasing a new album, their third one. It took over 30 years for them to reunite! The war interrupted their career in the nineties. Here is the text translated into English: Jelena Not all of us came into this world out of love I cried at the moment when no one is there to love you There are still truths that like to hurt Because of me, you will never, never cry We never met, we never had the time To wipe my tears, to caress my hands Because I soaked my sorrow with someone else's tears Like my dear once did with her eyes Chorus: Jelena, Jelena Oh, if only angels had wings for storks Jelena, Jelena If only the gods had a little time Jelena, think that at least everyone Was born under lucky stars Jelena, Jelena And years pass down our cheeks Spring winds calm old age Is there someone dear and beautiful for you Whose hands bring you joy? Because today I no longer have the strength to love you Today I just have to, have to Look for you one more time Because I soaked my sorrow with someone else's tears Because of me, you never, never cried Chorus Maybe not Jelena, Jelena
Bolero is another great rock band from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 80s from Sarajevo, unfortunately the band was rather short lived as they only released 2 albums, albeit with plenty of great hits such as : - Jelena - Galebovi (Seagulls) - O Jesenjinu (About Jesenjin) - Konjuh planino (Konjuh mountain) - Krčmarska Moskva (Moscow's Innkeeper) - Sviri harmoniko tugo tugu (Harmonica my sorrow, play my sadness) - Pismo majci (Letter to mother) - Zašto umiru proleteri (Why are the proletarians dying)
Not all of us came to this world out of love cried in the moment when there is no one to love you there are still truths that like to hurt for me you will never, never cry
We have never met, never had time for you to wipe my eyes, to fondle my arms because I made the sadness wet with other people's tears Like once my darling did, with her eyes ref.Jelena, Jelena eh, if only angels carried the wings of the storks Jelena, Jelena, if only Gods had a little time My dear
Jelena think if only all people were born under the lucky stars, my dear Jelena, Jelena And years pass down our cheeks, spring winds are calmed by old age does for you exist someone completely dear and beautiful whose arms bring you happiness Because today I have no strength to love you again today I only must, must to look for you one more time because I made the sadness wet with other people's tears Like once my darling did, with her eyes Jelena, Jelena eh, if only angels carried the wings of the storks Jelena, Jelena, if only Gods had a little time My dear Jelena think if only all people were born under the lucky stars, maybe they wouldn't Jelena, Jelena
In the former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina always had the best bands that dictated and set the standards. Bolero is a group that was founded in Sarajevo❤️
Depence of what kind of music genre you prefer. Sarajevo had huge zero in new wave. Hard rock too. Minor but important influence in heavy metal because of Milic Vukasinovic (later Divlje jagode) but that was far from dictate or setting standards. That was undergound then. But very important in my opinion. Milic brought heavy metal to YU from London. And that's pretty much it. Everything else was pop, soft rock and folk but most of it in late 80es. Yes in late 80es Sarajevo was center of pop, folk pop and soft rock and soft folk rock and folk music. The only band from Sarajevo that setting standards was Bijelo dugme and everyone from Sarajevo and Bosnia wanted to be another Bijelo dugme. Except Zabranjeno Pusenje. Zabranjeno Pusenje was authentic. For example Bolero was very uniqe band in former YU but not that popular and it was far away from "dictate and set the standards". They were so alone. 99,99% of the pop rock music fans in YU know only this Bolero song , even if they have at least 5 very good songs on same album. Plus 3-4 more in another album.
Sarajevski new primitives Zabranjeno Pušenje ,Elvis J. Kurtović,Bombaj Štampa , (valjda i Plavci) Ali inače Sarajevo najviše asocira na Pop, a to su prvenstveno Indexi, COD, Kemal Monteno, Jadranka Stojaković, Zdravko Čolić, BD, Hari Mata Hari, Merlin, C.Jabuka itd, itd..Nema tu neke žestine.
Among others bands Bolero also have fan's in Yugoslavia..they was in group of mainstream bands..so called,,soft pop rock band,,...but hard rock and metal fan's not like them...Yugoslavia have many good bands in 80s..and 70s...
This song neeeds to be listened WITH lirycs on, to get it right. This is a very powerful, emotional song and it's not about love... it's about abandoned child, who is grown man now... but never felt mothers love. And he is beyond sad... it's devastating. Thanks for reaction, wish you all the best :)
The song was written based on a true event. The singer's mother abandoned him after he was born, and the song is dedicated to that. I think of Mile Andjelica
Not true. The author of the text, music as well as the arangment is Miso Bartulica. Founder of the band - the man that is singing the first part… song is about abandoned children, not compleatly autobiographic - althoe some parts of inspiration author Miso Bartulica had based on his own childhood experiances. He is a good friend of mine so i know this first hand.
sir, this song proves the only fact that it is a big disadvantage, that you are not a born Serb, Bosnian or other nation, who understands the lyrics of this song. When I listen to this song, I actually realize how privileged I am to understand the lyrics
Play Accordion sadly, sadly ~ Sviri Harmoniko tugo, tugo Moscovy Pothouse ~ Krcmarska Moskva They always had the elements and sound of Russia in their songs. heard it for the first time it was amazing
I heard that the lyrics are the singer's true story. His mother, Jelena (Ellen), left him as a baby in an orphanage.
Not true🥴

Una storia della vita molto triste...😢
Bolero and Balkan, in my opinion the two best ex-Yu bands. In addition, they were unfairly neglected and partially censored in the 1980s.
Баш волите севдалинке. 😊
Jelena is the same as Helena ,that's the name
Jelena is the name of his mother, who left him while he was in the maternity hospital.
