My first commment on youtube, is for you Abena. You are the best, ur doughnuts recipe is way better and good than some I've wasted my time watching. Keep up the good job.
I have a Ghanaian Father and tried to make some of them, but i forgot the Sugar and they were also too hard. But now I know how to make them properly. Thank you for that.
You welcome. You can also try my bofrot recipe and he will love it
This is the real deal! Thank you 👏👏👏
I love Ghana doughnuts it's very good
Now my mom knows how to make doughnuts thank you so much!!
You made my day, thanks for the feedback
Thanks so much for posting this video as well as your other cooking videos! I’ve subscribed to your channel because your videos are of tremendous help when I’m trying to make West African dishes for my fiancé who is from Sierra Leone. Thanks again!
Love the way you write down your ingredients in grams and cups 🥰 God bless and increase you
Amen, thank you
It is nice
That's how we do it in Cameroon you got it all right
I have not tried it yet but you make it sound interesting and easy to do. Thanks loads and i know it will taste yummy and wholesome. Cheers!
Many thanks Abena ...I've learnt a lot from u!!
mary Akuamoah you r welcome
Nice ☝
Thanks
Thanks Abena for all your recipe. .. it's super
Hi Abe na, I made it n it tasted nice. The only thing was it was slightly uncooked in the middle. what did I do wrong pls.
I presume your dough was too thick and the oil was probably too hot so the donuts got brown way too fast without getting to cook properly inside.
Thanks for answering the question.
Hello Abena.
I tried your puff puff and my hubby and sisters love them.
With the donut, do I need plain flour or self raising? I doesn't specify.
Thanks
You can use any of them. But you'll ve to add baking powder if you use the plain flour
hello Abena'sKitchen, can you please help me out here, IV tried several times to do this but it always fails...either the doughnuts get burnt or they are uncooked in the middle, pls wat am i doing wrong.can you help.thanks
ElijahGamer A Low heat is needed
What do you set your frying temperature at?
Please can you add baking soda to the dough
These are so good. The first time I made them the 4 cups was way too much. It was thick like dough. I had to add more of the other ingredients. So that way the consistency would be like yours in the video.
However I did some research and your 500g of flour turned out to be 2 1/2 cups. So the second time I made with the 2 1/2 cups instead it turned out perfect.
Thanks so much for sharing. 😁
That’s why I don’t add cup measurements in my videos/recipes bcos I’m not familiar with them. Thanks for pointing it out to me and sorry for the late reply
I really love these but never knew how to make them thank you for teaching me
You’re welcome 😉
Amazing 👌👌👌
Thank you
Goo,will try it
betty brew pls do, hope the video has been helpful.
We made one of your recipes and it came out perfect 👍
Awww thanks for your feedback 😊
Please did you use hard flour
Naomi Antwi no soft flour
@@AbenasKitchen oh okay thanks
Thank you so much, will try it
Ike Amoako give us a feedback when you try
Please what kind of flour can be used for this? Thanks
Plain flour/soft flour/ all purpose flour- any of these flour should be fine
I am from Ghana and I love little mix
Jasmin Randolph 😍
Thanks Abena, sometimes when l make my meat pie it turns hard and l dont know why,l do add a little grounded onion though, do you think thus the reason or does it has something to do with measurement or water?
+Ama Pat l mean the meat pie not doughnut
It depends on many factors. Don't add baking powder, too much of water can also make it hard
Ama pat use milk
Thanks for your video is very helpful!👍
Pls did u use can milk or gallon milk
nice donut omg it so good
Nice one
Thank you
U
Can these be made without egg?
Love ur recipe, good job done but can u pls help me with the measurements in pw i understand dat one better? Thanks
Please what is pw
Très bonne recette je viens de testé et j'ai réussi mercii
What can I substitute if I Don't have butter
well done! You made it easy for me to try
thanks dear
Very simple,thank you
Are these fattening?
Pls answer me, do I start frying right away? Cause I tried it but didn't come out perfect for look, but was perfect for test.( I let it sit a while, say 30 minutes) before frying.
Sorry. Just saw your comment. You've to fry it right away. No need to let it sit
@abena pls answer
I've already answered this question. Thanks
Oh ok, I did not see it until u commented again thank you
Thanks soo much
I miss u Adom.
please can I use yeast instead of the baking powder? or which one is better?
you will have to leave it for it to rise if you use yeast. you can try using yeast, who knows, you can come out with something nicer. check my bofrot recipe if you havent, that ones uses yeast but theres no egg or butter in it. thanks for watching.
Lovely
thanks
Nice
Thanks sis Abena I did it and it tested good but a lil bit hard, what should I do next time pls
just add a little milk
How many people does it serve
Please the flour should it be hard or soft if I don't get all purpose flour
Soft flour. All purpose flour is same as plain flour or soft flour
Abena, I don't have the vanilla what can I replace with it. Or if I don't add will it be a problem
You can use pineapple essence or any other essence of your choice. If you don’t have any of these just leave it out. It doesn’t take anything away from the recipe
Oòok thanks. I tried it n it was very tasty but I think I used too much butter n sugar n it was soo rich. Like the doughnut was was oily
good work
Thank you
Did u use hard flour or soft pls
Soft flour
nice one but pls can it be done without backing powder?
No pls, that is what makes the doughnut light n fluffy. baking powder is a must, you can't leave it out
Do i have to use baking powder i dont have it? Thanks
Yes you've to, it's an essential ingredient. You can't do without it
Why didnt you put cup measurements or teaspoon.
We don't use cup measurements in my country so I'm not familiar with it. Will try and convert it for you
SOOKND67 Pls check the description box, I've added cup measurements
Because Africans/Carribbeans do measurements by eye. We don't bother with precise measurements.
Hard or soft flour
Soft flour
do u have to wait for the dough to rise or fry it right away.
no pls, fry them straight away
Abena'sKitchen
Thnx so much. Will let you know the outcome when I try it.
I good
Plz wat is the difference plain flour and all purpose flour
Sorry dear I thought I had replied you. They’re literally the same thing. In some countries it’s called plain flour and in other countries it’s all purpose flour
How do you know the amount of sugar, baking powder, margarine, and milk for some amount of flour???
You can double the recipe, cut it down into half, etc. Hope I answered the question bcos I didn't understand it well
Description box, sweetheart.
Yaa Konadu
Yaa Konadu
what do I do with the leftover batter? can I store it for next time?
I've never done that before. there's no harm in trying.
Kept it in the fridge
Can I skip the nutmeg?... Thanks!
Of course you can
Thanks! :)
Hagar Abban im honoured, thank you
Abena'sKitchen what flour do you used.
Abena you are a born shef. All your recipes are awesome but i will like the ingredients to stay on a little longer. Thank you.
do u have to use eggs
Yes please
is the flour all purpose or self rising flour?
I used all purpose flour. in case you use self raising flour omit the baking powder bcos it has some already
O.k., thanks. I will give it a try and let you the outcome.
please is fresh cow milk or what and any particular type
fresh cow milk
Obaa, can I use the carnation milk instead of fresh milk? Thanks
Yes you can
Thanks for the response dear. I tried 3 days ago I used fresh milk and everything you used but it came out a little harder than the normal texture I know back in Ghana. Lol any secret? Thanks
Add more liquids next time
@@AbenasKitchen oo dear. I will do that. Thanks for the good work.
@@AbenasKitchen OK love. Thank you 🙏 🙌
Mmm poff poff
she is amazing
thanks
How to make Ghanaian Doughnuts
is this the same as the puff puff?
no please
what type of milk do you use
fresh milk
Are you from germany
No I’m from Italy
Bofroat :-)
can you please skip the milk and use water?
dorcas baah it wouldn’t taste as nice as when you use milk. If you won’t get fresh milk use evaporated milk or powdered milk diluted with water
Is better you used the milk than the water
the baking powder, how many sachets did you use?
1 sachet (15g)
Oh really and is it equal to 3 teaspoon full
Yes please, get a teaspoon that measures properly
O.k., I will do that enjoy thanks.
can I use all purpose flour? or does it need to be self-rising flour?
Mamayaa Opoku yes please, that’s what I used (all purpose flour)
+Abena'sKitchen I think all purpose flour and self raising flour are the same? or plan flour
nice
thanks
about how many does this recipe make
+J Lanier can't tell you the exact number. maybe 20-30
Thank you
Danquah Juliet you're welcome
please what type of flour?
I used all purpose flour
+Abena'sKitchen please I have soft and hard available to me, which one should I use?
soft please
It's called buffroit in ghana in another African countries its puff puff
This is not bofrot
@@AbenasKitchen oh
Are u sure that's the sme recipe and the sme look as buffroit but if u say so
Brofrot hasn’t got baking powder and eggs in it. It has yeast meaning you have to leave it for some for it to rise/ferment before frying.
@@AbenasKitchen ohhhhhhhhhh ok ur the master at cooking be my guest
