One thing about Sidney is we see her life from high school teenager, to college student, to young adult, to full adult. That's rare for a franchise. While a few people brought this up it would be a bit much for her to keep surviving but same could be said for how many killers dressing up as Ghostface doing the same thing each time. It would of been nice to see the original idea.
I'll forever mourn the loss of Kevin's vision for Scream 5 and 6.

I like 5 and six but it felt like the storyline was not right. To go from 4 to 5 the way they did was wrong. 5 should have been a continuing storyline. Kevin does so well with his plans but yet the studio takes over and fucks it

Sidney in 5 was written with so much care and they made sure to keep her character in tact. Laurie in h18 is a shell of her former self.
Scream 4 was a movie starring the og 3 characters and it bombed. Now some will spin these results and make excuses as to why it bombed but the bottom line was that it did bomb. My personal opinion as to why it bombed was that the fans had just moved on from these characters. They weren’t interesting anymore and none of them had any threat of dying. The studio saw this and was alarmed. That’s why we didn’t get another movie for 11 years and the main cast was new when we finally did get a new one. The og characters were reduced to supporting roles. Sidney was never going to be the top star again. She did well in the first 3 movies but her time was up. The studio had to move on to save the brand. The plan worked and Scream 5 was a big success. The fans loved the new characters Sam and Tara. Well except the small group of Sidney fanatics that hated Sam because they saw her replacing Sidney and didn’t like it so they said horrible things about Melissa. But the general public loved them and when Scream 6 came out it made huge money with the new cast and very little Gale and no Dewey or Sidney. It shows that the fan base for the most part has moved on from the og characters. And now Sam and Tara the are stars of the franchise. The fanatics of the og characters keep wanting to bring those characters back as the stars and it will just hurt the franchise like Scream 4 did. If they do get brought back it has to be in supporting roles. A majority of the fan base want to see Sam and Tara now and that is what the studio will give them because the studio doesn’t care about nostalgia. They care about money. Just ask Neve about that after they didn’t want to pay her what she was asking for. They didn’t think she was worth it and the box office results agreed with them.
If they didn’t care about nostalgia, Scream 5 would’ve ignored the previous movies and not connect Sam to Billy. They could’ve made Mindy and Chad their own characters without the need of connecting them to Randy. This is the reason why not a lot of people complained about the Scream tv series not having the original trio, because it was a different story and it made sense.
They didn’t care about nostalgia. It was a reboot in the form of a requel. So instead of using the old actors to reprise their roles the new stars were used to tell the story. Neve was told she was not worth the money she was asking for. If she was worth it they would’ve paid it. The Scream storyline will always be based on nostalgia. That doesn’t mean the characters will be too. 5 & 6 proved that nostalgia characters are not needed.
Uhm no the new movies are only this successful because of the gap between them and the older ones. It's two different generations. 5 and 6 are only this successful because of the time they came out in. This generation will eat anything up with Jenna Ortega in it and so they did. A majority of the fans disliked 5, it wasn't good, it did good, but it wasn't good. It didn't fit with scream, it wasn't what scream's premise was based on. They switched everything up and the older fans aren't really happy with it not because of Sidney absence in 6 and little screen time in 5 but because it doesn't feel like scream. It's not what they grew up with, it's just different now and it shouldn't even be called scream because let's face it. The only thing connected 1-4 with 5 and 6 is Gale at this point.
Your comment is nonsense. Scream 4 was 11 years after Scream 3. The same 11 years between Scream 4 and Scream 5. This is my point. Sidney fans try and spin the reasons for the results. The bottom line is that Scream 4 was a bomb and Scream 5 & 6 were hits and the biggest difference was who started in them.

Scream 5 needed more time in the oven. There were too many plot holes and Sindey's presence felt like a last minute option. Had they kept her as a small cameo when Dewey calls her, that would have been enough for me. Then have her show up in 6 and take over it would have made so much more sense to me. Dewey dies and Sidney shows up hours later just didn't make sense to me. Even her involvement in the final act did feel needed. Plus having her getting disrespected by Sam upon first meet just grinded my gears. Like know, your place Sam! You're talking to a legend here

In several interviews, Sidney said that [the crew, productions, and the cast] wanted her story to end in Scream 3 & 4 because they didn’t want to have 7 or 8 movies about the same thing: Her.
The transition from the original 3 to the new 4 was necessary to continue the franchise, as otherwise the movies would’ve felt redundant and unnecessary, especially when her story pretty much was complicated in Scream 3 and 4.
Besides: Now the core 4 will have 3 movies , and the returning 3 will have 4 (basically, I’m saying that the story of the original 3 has finished, and it’s time to let them out of the spotlight for the newest cast of survivors)
4 movies follow a 3-act structure better than trilogies do imo, which is why I think a lot of trilogies that disappointed could’ve benefited from the last one being split into two movies, not every trilogy but a lot of them certainly. I think it’s cool that Williamson’s original plans for the reboot would’ve been 4 and not just another trilogy, I’m crossing my fingers that they’re gonna end 7 on a cliffhanger and surprise everyone with a concluding 8th installment, at least to the core four’s story🤞

As much as I love Sidney, they gave a chance to build up a new generation with Sidney able to come back in the story at will..
When Sidney comes back, she has numerous alliances now; including Kirby. This direction can add potentially more dynamic.
The scream 5 & 6 reveals were literally just the scream 1 & 2 reveals remixed
Scream 1 (Killer Sidneys boyfriend)
Scream 2 (killer is the mom of the killer bf getting revenge)
Scream 5 (killer sams boyfriend
)
Scream 6 (family of the killer getting revenge)
The should have left Sidney, Gale, and Dewey happy in 3, and Scream 4 and so on to be a complete separate stories like an anthology format but since I love the og cast, I want to see them more even they got their happy ending in the third film.
Sidney's story isn't over until every last Ghostface is in the Ground.
Sidney's enemy was not Ghostface. It was the person behind the mask. Not the "entity".
Sam's enemy is Ghostface. The legacy, the memory of her father, the idealization and the cultlike fandom which was built by Gale herself just like she said in Scream 5.
I would definitely love another round with Sidney! Such a perfect character. Just couldn’t get on board with some of the new ones.

In every horror franchise there is one character who stands out, who's supposed to be in every movie, who's supposed to have a major role, who's the face of the franchise. Laure makes Halloween, Sidney makes Scream. Scream's premise is based on Sidney and it always has been that's why 5 & 6 don't feel like scream anymore. Because Sidney is reduced. Older fans just don't like 5 & 6 because it's not scream anymore. No Sidney, no scream. 5 & 6 shouldn't even be scream movies if there is no Sidney Presscot. I do like scream 5 and scream 6 but not as scream movies, just as horror movies. Truth is is Wes didn't sadly pass then the franchise would still be his and sid would still be the face because that is what the goddamn creator of the franchise envisioned, its his franchise. You newer generation kids know nothing about how scream was and how it is now. You all immediately assume we are just hating but we have valid reason as to why we don't like 5 and 6 as much as 1-4. 1-4 are classics in the horror genre and 5 and 6 aren't. If 7 doesn't have Sidney then we'll all the old fans will probably just not watch it, because it's not scream anymore, it's just a horror movie

From what he’s discussed his plans for Sidney’s love story would have been in 6 (aka a part of the original 4-5-6)

Bringing Sam and Tara in was done strictly for the younger fans. If Halloween 2018 broke records it was because the ORIGINAL star returned and the FANS of the series returned. Try and imagine another actress playing Laurie Strode the movie would have failed. The did Neve Campbell dirty and took her franchise away from her. It should remain about her. No one cares about Sam like they do Sidney

Keep rolling and leaking scripts into the net. Test the audience and make several endings. For me Scream franchise is like Cluedo on a film. Sydney will always represent courage and hope. Ghostface Will always be the antagonist. Otherwise the movie won't sell or be a Blockbuster. In my personal opinion as a fan,and also an artist: Sydney would be happily married with Kincaid and with a baby. Samantha would go into reabilitation before evolving her psicoses and turn into a real killer ( i mean with the autodefense skills)and Gale would still write books ,now in memory of Dewey 🙏🏻❤️😊. And this Time ,maybe just this time let Tara study and be relaxed. And make Billie Loomis father the Killer😂. We miss that actor. Another amazing second killer would be another Sydney mother lovers. Who never had appear. A totally new character 😏.
Say what you will, but Scream 1-4 are the best of the 6 films because of a) Wes Craven and b) Sidney. Although I think Scream 5 & 6 were decent films, they didn’t feel like Scream films to me for various/obvious reasons. I can’t respect what RadioSilence has done, because Scream is Wes’s true baby and Sidney is the beating/bleeding heart of this franchise. Wes’s memory and Neve have been treated as the less-loved step kids by RadioSilence/the studio. It’s a lowdown, dirty shame.

He already even said his original plan would’ve had Gale & Dewey take the lead for 6, not Sidney. This just seems like another video to complain about the new movies.

This is all so infuriating. Kevin creates a franchise with a now a classic film. He quickly follows it up with a solid sequel. Then they mess with his third film, replace him as the writer and the film is not as well received. They bring him back for 4, only to replace him with the writer from 3 again. They then continue to butcher the franchise by derailing his intentions, and replacing the main protagonist with a woman of color to reflect 'modern' sensibilities and insulting said heroine by not wanting to pay her what she is due. So infuriating, but sadly still better than most other franchise/horror films right now.

While I warmed up to Sam slightly more in 6 (I couldn't stand her in 5 tbh) I will firmly stand by the fact that Sidney should still be the main character. Scream is Sidney's story. A huge part of the franchise was the fact that it was the main characters who stayed the same in the original trilogy, while the villian always changed (under the mask) unlike alot of other big slasher horror movies of the 70's and 80's. Also the franchise was at its best with Kevin and Wes at the helm, and the less the studio is interfering the better!!

sidney surviving SEVEN movies would have been just insane . jill should have just killed her at the end of 4 and became the face of the franchise after that and maybe die in 6. left as is.
the version of 5 (which could have been 7) would have been even better this way as the new characters wouldn’t be fighting for screen time.
If scream 4 had been successful and had ended with Jill getting away with it and omitted the whole hospital ending, scream 5 could’ve been a retread of scream 2 in the same vein of 4 retreading 1 except this time we know Jill’s the killer planning the sequel and there’s another opposing killer in her friend group targeting her cuz she’s suppose to be the new Sidney. You could’ve brought back Kirby and made her the new Dewey and she would only know about Charlie and not realize Jill was the real second killer, and bring back Sid in a 3rd act Mrs. Loomis reveal showing she survived or came out of her coma or whatever they would wanna say and is gonna expose Jill, maybe the killer is Sam Carpenter discovered and let loose by Sid, maybe it’s just some random psycho ala Mickey Alteiri truly working alone, and Kirby could’ve uncovered the truth in some capacity, idk but 4 could’ve been better and it could’ve had a wild sequel if Jill had gotten away with it. There’s a universe out there where that movie exists goddammit
But 4 was not successful so the studio needed to move on. They did and now we got new characters and the movies are successful again.

I would like to see Mr Carpenter as Ghostface and Christina as the red herring. Mr Carpenter wants to destroy Christina and Sam who blames for ruining his perfect life. I want Tara to kill her father saving her sister. That would be compelling.
I wish these writers would stop being greedy and give up this strike. We could have been deep into scream 7 reveals by now.
The writers strike is over, actors isn't. The studios left, basically sag asked them to raise their prices so they can get portions of what the subscribers pay for.
They walked cos everybody was already raising their prices, and they were demanded an additional five dollars for each tier, etc.

For me Scream 5 is the second best behind the original... I also love Scream 4 but for me 2 and 3 were the weaker ones.
@@Hear.myvoice 2 is my favorite, every kill is fun and memorable but still scary, they have as much weight as the first Scream if not more cuz they killed Randy one of the franchise’s best characters, the pace is insane, it’s got the franchise’s best chase scene with Gale in the film department, it’s got Sid’s most badass line regarding Billy Loomis- “I fucking killed him” WHACK
Plus Sid doesn’t exactly win, she’s literally gotta make a deal with the devil in the form of Cotton Weary to save her own ass and in the end she pays it forward, plus Gale actually has an arc in that movie when she sets her career aside after Randy dies (a phone call that was meant for her no less) to catch the killer and chooses Dewey over her career in the end, I don’t know why more people don’t agree the 2nd is better, it introduced STAB it introduced Dewey’s theme what more do you want… I love all Scream movies though I think they’re all great!
Instead we get a woke ass terrible cast in 5 and 6. Shameful.
