- What’s going on guys and welcome to today’s episode of beyond the mask. Where today I have so much to discuss with you guys it’s unbelievable. So if you guys recall, it was confirmed before Scream VI begun filming that Neve Campbell wouldn’t be returning and that she felt her offer wasn’t a lot considering the role they were serving up for her. Well since then speculation has been rife about what this role was. I’ve done numerous videos you know, theorising, discussing and we even had a video where I did have the script for 6 in which Sidney was mentioned.

That's one thing that's never happened in any of the Scream movies that one of the killers actually survives. This is definitely a concept for the movie makers to consider doing in future installments!
Honestly, the route that they ultimately ended up going was the best. Simply just mentioning her. Gale said that she talked to Sid, but she was staying away.
Completely disagree. The shrine scene was completely wasted in 6. Having such a major call back to all the movies Sidney starred in without Sidney was completely ridiculous.

The taxi cab sequence doesn’t seem like it wouldn’t fit in a Scream movie. Glad it didn’t happen.
I hope we get something like this for Scream 7 hopefully we can hear what the original plans were for Sam how her arc would have concluded that unless Sam returns in a future entry hopefully 🤞.

As much as I love the scream franchise, i just have a feeling the next upcoming movies they will make aren’t going to be the best…
I feel the next one might be one of the best. Sid’s kids are now involved and she has much more to lose. The idea of a cult ( if they go with it) is a brilliant idea, and is something realistic and scary. Take the Manson Family for example. Also, Kevin is back!

Well 5 and 6 were both horrible movies so it can’t be much worse.
To be honest they should have just did the whole trilogy thing with Sidney's family starting with scream 5 introducing the new characters which would of been Sam, Tara, Mindy and Chad along with the rest. Which would of been a split movie stil, l but making Sidney's daughter the focus leading into 6 and 7 which part 6 of the story would have been similar to what we got but very different with Mark Kincaid being the FBI agent who would of interviewed Sam and Tara instead of Bailey. Mark would of met kirby but would already be familiar with her kirby would ask how's Sidney smh such a miss opportunity
I liked scream 6 the way it turned out! Sidney is totally there in spirit through nearly all female characters
Surprise you didn't mention that Sidney allowed Stab franchise and Tori Spelling to use her life story again despite the fact in Scream 4 established that Sidney threaten to sue the studio if they kept using her life's story or any member of family which explains why Jill is never mentioned as Ghostface in stab movies and it was mentioned that none of stab movies based killing spree occurred for the first time in 11 years with the events of the Second Woodsboro Murders despite this a sequel Stab was never faithfully made based on this at all only core elements including Second Woodsboro Murders (2011) survivor Judy Hicks and likely Charlie Walker as the maligned Flamethrower Ghostface
I don’t think they did.. seeing Stab 2 wouldn’t have been breaking lore since we already know there was a stab 1-3 made before Sid threatened to sue.
Stab 2 would have already existed since before Scream 3 before she threatened. Also let's be real Radio Silence fucked up many elements of Stab. Stab 8 in Scream 5 HAS nothing to do with any Stab before it so it can't have Judy or Charlie like you suggest. Also why would it be Charlier to begin with? you just made that up? There HAS to be a stab based off of Scream 4 as Sam even explains it to RIchie in the car and Wes mentions that Judy was in one of them. Judy could NOT have been in any of them unless it was about Scream 4 since 1-7 already existed in 4 and 8 couldn't include her since it has NOTHING to do with the others...nothing. that's the point of that entry. Also, the original script shows the writers didn't know much about the timeline as Wes states Judy was in Stab 4 to tie in with Scream 4, not realizing those already existed in 4. So yeah...there's flaws. But there's absolutely a book and film about Scream 4.

@@Zachking98 but the script and the fact that Judy was in one of them negates that. 1-7 already existed and stab 8 has NOTHING to do with the rest. I like to think scream 4's events were made into a tv series instead to be more meta.
They really had sidney full the Dewey cop, bodyguard role Randomly turns up to help someone. Insult to injury from 5
Kirbys part in this would have had me GAGGED. Charlie's knife would have been epic.
Unpopular opinion but I’m glad Sidney was not in scream 6 because don’t get me wrong Sidney is the best character in the scream franchise & I love Neve Campbell but it gave more focus on the core 4 especially Sam & Tara and I feel like if she was added it would’ve been more focused on her while not really given a good explanation of why she’s really there like Dewey dying in scream 5 made sense but just to have her yeah that just a excuse for her to be in the movie. Also I love that line when Gale said Sidney got her happy ending it was such a perfect way to say yeah Sidney is not in the movie.
She wasn't in SC6 because paid issues. It's not a true creative choice.... It's financial.

I agree it was for the best Sydney had a film out. There was already too many characters in 6 to create a compelling mystery and it makes for a more exciting 7 with the thought of Sydney returning. 6 felt like a good conclusion for the core four with a happy ending so a smaller cast for 7 means hopefully a better whodonit cam occur.
I wait 12 hours since Critical overlord’s video for your reaction. The consensus is Sid is a throw away character in this first draft, I’m sure this would’ve gone through more rewrites along the away.
The only way I see Sidney's role working is if in the opening of the movie Ghostface attacked her but she was able to fight him off and he retreated and refocused his efforts on Sam and Tara and would leave Sidney for last and when Sidney realizes Sam and Tara are in trouble then she heads to New York to help them but her only showing up in the final seconds of the final act to finish off Ethan does not work and also I would not have cameo's from Tori Spelling or Joel, that is clearly just Scream 2 easter eggs that don't need to be there!
This woulda been nice, but her character was basically sidelined again. I’m excited for the focus to be on Sidney again in 7
2 lines i want in 7 is the " family mention between sidney & gale, also The TV qute wouldve been great.
That chase scene is so identical to scream 2 chase scene.😮
Not everything from the script would have been needed (Tori & Joel's cameos) for Scream 6 but the movie would be have been better with Sidney for these scenes alone:
- Sidney saving Gale
- Sidney talking to Sam instead of Gale
They would have definitely the made the movie better.
I would love a scream movie where there’s a lot of ghost faces and Sydney has learned to fight over the years and she’s kicking their asses like John Wick
They should’ve used the Jill surviving hook with Det. Bailey. Would’ve been good character development for Sam to show restraint and not murder Bailey. It would’ve been a great set up for Scream 7 with Bailey working with a new ghostface from inside prison.
How much longer till Lakewood a scream story gets released physically to the public?

Glad scream 7 is going back to its roots With Sidney and new characters the seventh could reboot 5/6 but I liked the 5/6 With the core 4 scream 7 could be a fresh start.
Would have loved some Stab 2 footage.
Quinn surviving would of been interesting, to see a ghost face killer have to answer for their crimes would've been satisfying. We only got that in the TV series.
Any word or release date for when your novelization of scream the tv series season 3 will release physically or on amazon perhaps?
Honestly would have been cool to see them do a car sequence like in Scream 2 but with a taxi cab running all throughout crashing and ramming into cars. It would have been an amazing homage to Scream 2 as well as possibly could have lead into the 3rd act with Sam and Tara being kidnapped in the taxi cab.
Thank God that this didn't happen because it's sad how badly they treated the original characters. Im excited to going back to the original because I wasn't a big fan of the sisters story.
The issue is trying to drag out characters when their story had already multiple endings already. Both Sidney and Gale could’ve been left at 5 and it would’ve been fine but fans don’t want to let them go. That’s why you get subpar writing that has to force them into a story that doesn’t require them.
@@KT-bs1px They are the originals, obviously the fans love them and also the Carpenter sisters never convinced me as protagonists, Sam is now more beloved but in her introduction in 5 not many people were convinced with her character, and if your character who's supposed to be the protagonist does not convince the audience in her introduction, there is a problem

Lucky us! Sid (Neve) was not part of the bad scream 6 and we have high hopes for scream 7.
I think at this point they should just let the franchise rest for a while. Hoping they dont pull the legacy sequel angle with 7 and ignore the events of 5 and 6. One of the things i love the most about scream is it's clear linear timeline lol
I hate this idea for Sid. It just sounds similar to her role in part five. I'd rather do a cameo visiting Gale in hospital a la Linda Blair in Believer.

I agree with BTM. As much as I love Sidney, I feel like this idea would make zero sense for her character arc unless (like we might be getting in 7 from rumors) the killer was physically coming after her or her family. Yes, Gale is family to Sid but like what was said in the version of 6 that we got "she deserves her happy ending". Scream 6, IMO, why it did so well and I actually rank it higher than others before it is because they needed to prove that a movie without Sid is possible. Scream 5 was the passing of the torch to Sam and Tara for their own story and to fully dive into this, 6 unfortunately had to be without Sid in the picture to solely concentrate on the sisters. I am sad that we won't be able to see the end of their story but I'm curious about how they will incorporate Sid's family into 7.
First of all, i appreciate Beyond The Mask sharing the original concept for scream vi. This was in fact interesting, hopefully we get deleted scenes soon too? Idk. The main problem with the scream franchise are the ones responsible for keeping and removing scenes from the movie and ofc those that changed the script around. I think that they can still incorporate sidney receiving the news of the killings in New York IF they make the plot of scream 7 take place at the same time as scream 6 which at this point i doubt will happen due to the said rumors going around. I think the bodega scene was executed very well but if they would've added the taxi scene then that would have been really cool especially seeing the taxi crash. Also, with jill coming back and quinn surviving and being put behind bars would be something fresh for the franchise and id be all for it. Hopefully they bring back a past killer or putting a surviving ghostface behind bars or one surviving and getting away for scream 7 or any future sequels. Lastly, i would have loved to see sidney be present at the shrine. Im sure alot of fans would have appreciated that. Im hoping they can utilize one of these concepts for a future scream movie bc theyre always taking out the best parts of the movies.
It would be better for all the killers' masks to be included with the costume.
After hearing this I'm glad Sidney wasn't in Scream 6. It seems like she would have not being playing a major role in the film. I'm just happy she's returning for Scream 7 🙂

Ridiculous Sidney inclusion. Doesn't feel natural, Sidney wouldn't do that in the slightest. I'm so glad she wasn't in 6 after hearing that. Let's keep it authentic. Her time will shine again for her new focused trilogy for this new era

after watching the entire video i’m honestly glad that scream 6 went the way that it did. i also agree that it seems really out of character for Sid to just leave her kids and husband for people she barely knows and the 3rd act from the original script feels forced along with other things in the script so yeah im glad we got the scream 6 that we have now

She should’ve been paid as the face of the movie. Male actors get paid for other franchises for all of 5 mins of tv and phoning it in so neve who is going all in as Sidney should’ve been paid weather she has 50 mins or 5 secs
Look, Scream isn’t Scream if Sidney isn’t the main focus of the movie period.
Scream 6 was a mess even the killers were so bad, how tf Quinn threw Gale’s boyfriend like if he was a chair or something knowing that he is a muscular man!

@@morton4303 I mean not really but the only one that didn’t make sense was Richie I would have preferred the original script with Liv and amber as the killers sure Amber didn’t really have an impact on me but who else could have been a better killer in that movie

I don’t hate her reduced inclusion, but I feel like Scream 6 not featuring Sidney was the best move. It would’ve been nice if the Sam/Tara trilogy was completed before Sidney returned but I understand why they didn’t wanna pay her a lot of money. She truly was “just there”.
I don’t like the idea of Quinn surviving. I’d rather see Jill and Stu return than see Quinn, or any of the Scream 6 killers, again lol

This sounds better than what we got. They should have kept the bodega scene and the car chase. Joel should have been the twins' father. It would have tied him into the story.

6 was going in a good direction. But scream 7 will take it back 7 steps and we will get the same old same old ....just when they were takeing it in a good direction new and fresh . Now we will get 90s scream ....agine ...... fuck scream .
I'm happy Sidney wasn't in the film because IT DOES NOT WORK!!! Realistically, she can't do these films til the end of time. I'm not gonna pretend like 5 is one of the better films but 6 definitely is and is better than both 5 & 3 for sure. I put it above 2 but that's an opinion many don't share and so that just my personal placement of it. I'm happy Sidney missed out in 6 and I'm happy that she's returning and I hate that it feels like the two worlds can't coexist. I'm still holding out for a proper conclusion to the core 4 trilogy and then integration of Sidney and her family.

@@davonfryar-frazier435 They did not in all honesty, coming from a long time fan and who is happy having Sidney back. Neve was disregarded and tbh VI was a success without her and most fans like it and consider it a high up film within the rankings. The scream franchise doesn't need anyone besides ghostface and it's proven after they got rid of Neve and everything continued on as normal and the same now with Jenna and Melissa sadly.
@RyRyBrxt The numbers were mediocre, as was the writing. Many people still weren't happy with Melissa's performance and couldn't care less that she got fired. No one comes just for Ghostface except you and a few others. Neve was so disregarded that they mentioned her at least two to three times in the movie. 🤣
I think maybe we should just follow a ghostface killer while we recoup and wait for melissa and jenna to come back later
