“The story I’m about to tell” like he is so close to god he’s telling your future even tho he’s manipulating you into believing he’s that close to “god”. So gross

I have a similar testimony. Joseph Smith was a con man and a pederast and not a prophet. Here's to living a full life!

I was hoping to hear insights and something interesting, but all she said was "oh a thing happened, I totally don't remember the details, like yeah"
Most useless interview I've ever watched. I don't go to church anymore, so I was actually interested in what she might say. Nothing useful evidentally.

      Here’s a different perspective:
I’m an 18 year old girl who’s never talked publicly about my experience with church because of the fear of being rejected by all I’ve ever known. Maybe details are hard to recall when you’ve suppressed traumatic events for the last 18 years and this is the first time talking about it. And maybe, just maybe, I’m human and my experience isn’t useless, but it’s your opinion that is.
      xoxo

@@parisprince2613 Or your memory failed from not paying attention to it since you were and are a teenager. The suppressed memories wouldn't be from 18 years since I doubt you had something traumatic happen at six lol. Unless of course you had an assault of some sort (like my cousins did) but if that was the case you'd probably mention it or at least be more upset at the church. I remember the ridiculous stuff because I played it over in my head a thousand times. It's baffling to be scared of rejection and yet be in a video, joking around, seemingly fine with it.
Yes, no one is perfect, but this is a platform where most uploaders get paid and thus it needs to be worth the time of the viewer.
You really don't remember any more details? You didn't practice what to say before an interview? Were you coerced to do the interview?
This channel mustn't care much if they didn't prepare you or ask better questions.
Maybe they can add "leaving mormonism at 18" so viewers will be more aware of what the video contains.
Read my comment clearly, I said useless interview, not experiences. Everyone's experiences are their own, but once they share them they become part of another persons experiences.
If the channel can't handle honest criticism then it isn't a good channel, that doesn't care about improvement or value.

I sense so much hostility from the people behind the camera asking leading questions. She responded exactly how they expected her to without deviating from the ideology of people who dislike the church. I want to hear what she thinks, and the likelihood that she agrees completely AND has put some serious thought into developing her own thoughts and opinions is pretty low. Maybe she agrees on every question brought up in the video, but there has to be some nuanced and unique belief that she holds that is different from theirs. I want to hear what she thinks. Not aspects of her experience that can be skewed to support an ideological claim.
Id like to see something more honest where the emphasis is simply on a person sharing their experience. They obviously had an agenda in making this video, and that’s fine. But it has developed into tunnel vision, which is not ok if you want to produce quality content. Pursuit of truth is better than pursuit of an argument.
That being said I don’t think she’s evil or lying. I really think she’s an honest person just trying to share her experience, but I also think its possible that she has been swayed by the ideological opinions of others. I’m more disappointed in the people behind the camera. I’d be curious to hear her talk about the church unprompted.

We asked her questions and she answered. And more than that she told her story. We asked questions that we talked about asking previously so that we didn’t spring anything on her that she wasn’t comfortable answering. Invalidating her story like you did is interesting and somehow familiar. But cool take

Hey, so I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I have a few things to say about this.
Watching this video, I really hope that although you had many problems with the church, you don't have any with God! I was definitely disappointed in your teacher and family for not answering your question (i think around minute 4) about gay people in the correct manner. Because the truth is, there are clear eternal laws set forth for the roles in a family, families being one of the keys for eternal salvation, and further questions should have been taken to the bishop and God! He is the source of truth and revelation, and I've come to know many things through prayer and fasting.
I felt that you were seeing many of the practices in the church with the wrong lens, you listed many reasons why YOU felt off about it, but the point of anything we do in the church is to bring ourselves and others to Christ! It did not seem to me that there was much effort on your part to truly understand or look for answers to your questions, or to grow your faith. Yes, there are things that arent going to be perfect, but that's because we as mortals are imperfect!
For others reading this, just like with anything else you learn about, learn about it from different angles. This is one opinion on one side, while searching our website is one on the other. As you truly seek answers to your questions about the church you can find them! My email is in my profile as well, feel free to ask any questions.
I'll leave with my own personal testimony. I know that the church is true! I bare witness that The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I testify that He lives, and loves you as well.
