Yes man. The previous tutorial was not very friendly even for me.even though I have been using ae for 5 years. I had a hard time understanding what you were doing because of the quick transitions and no detailed explanation of each step, which you may have cut.
This tutorial is more enjoyable and I thank you for listening to your audience and trying to make more user friendly tutorial formats 🙌🏻.

probably have the texture in the shape of the cylinder and extrude them out?

I don't know the order of making that.. I don't know how to create the cylinder with c4d render and then apply the texture.

What's your PC Specs? AE doesn't even lagg when you are doing stuff.
for the animated gradient on the shape, is it just animating the ligths position?
It was a combination of light position animation and and shape on matte animation. check out my previous tutorial for more details on that

might need one to process C4D 3D Renderer
the lines you have shown in 26:37 is not moving with the null object after parenting it, should i make another null object
make sure to check that you've made it 3D first before parenting it with the null object. Also make sure it touches the surface of the 3d logo as well
