Just bought an old Binks no 7 on Ebay. Not for a display piece. I intend to use it. Maybe not for every job, but when I feel like it. Single stage, heavy clear coats are a couple things i want too shoot with it. I have had a knock off and a Snap On siphon feed, but now I got the old standard. I see rebuild kits are still out there if it needs some tlc👍

Great choice on the Binks 7. A bullet proof addition to any spray gun collection 👍😊

I an old Binks 78 Eclipse that bought used back in the late 80s. My trigger was broken during a move a couple years ago and I've been unable to locate another one. Do you know if the trigger on a model 7 is the same? I would really like to use this gun again but i can't seem to find anything on the Binks 78 Eclipse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think a lot of different triggers would work. Try taking some measurements and run up to Harbor Freight to see if some of their conventional guns might work for you. They have a Binks model 7 copy and a Devilbiss JGA copy. Maybe the triggers on one of those guns would work - they're $14 bucks a piece. Or... try ebay for gun parts. Let me know if you find anything - I'll try to think of something :)

I have a really old Binks 7 Thor.
The handle says Thor Model 7 . All the paperwork is printed Binks Mfg.
I think it was made in the early 50s best i can tell.

From everything I’ve been able to find the Binks Thor model 7 was made from the mid 1930’s to around 1951 when Binks dropped the “Thor” part of the name and it has been just the Binks Model 7 ever since.

I was hoping when you put it back together you would show how to adjust the spray pattern. Do you unturn the fluid adjustment all the way out and pull down on the trigger, hold trigger down in place and screw in the fluid adjustment until it contacts the trigger and then turn the spray pattern knob all the way in for full pattern? Seems this is what I saw on a video for a newer gun. Had this Binks #7 for 30 years and as an amateur used it a few times with pretty good results. But it has been a while since I used it. My hood and top of my truck is fading bad and I need to paint them so thought I might get some advice on best method of adjusting this #7 gun.

For the fluid control - squeeze the trigger fully and turn the adjustment till it touches the trigger. For pattern (top) - it's different for everything you spray tighter for thicker primers - wider for thinner paints. Use what works best for your job. Basically same with air pressure - a balance between too much overspray and fumes and too little paint & atomization. Ask more ?s if needed :)

@@LakesideAutobody- Thanks for the info. I painted the passenger side front fender, door, and extend door on this 2000 150 about ten years ago with Martin Senour base coat clear coat. That side had been totaled with only 54,000 miles. Bent the frame so I used parts and put another frame under it from a junker. and kept it in a shed most the time. A hurricane came through New Orleans a couple years back and blew the shed down. I had evacuated in the truck. So being parked outside the original clear coat and paint on the hood and top has deteriorated. The NAPA MS paint is holding up great. So figure to paint the hood and top and later paint the rest of the original paint. I was just eyeballing the spray pattern and fluid level before and testing the output by spraying thinner on a surface so your info should be beneficial.

Hello again thanks for another great video. I noticed you have the tube on the top of your tank cap mine does not have that all it has is that that hole do you think that should be drilled out a little bigger than what it was from the factory. Ty. Joe

    • @LakesideAutobody

You can drill it out but tie a bib around the cup just below where it attaches to the gun in case any pain dribbles out that hole when painting a hood or roof :)

You need the special hex wrench sold by Binks, part number 73-165. You have to remove the air control assembly and go through there!!☺
