- A Small Hill With BIG Character - A Hike up Parlick Pike & Fairnsnape Fell
In this video, we enjoy a family hike to the summit of Fairsnape Fell in the Forest of Bowland AONB. Fair Snape Fell is one of the larger hills in the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire, England. It reaches 521.9 m (1,712 ft) with a prominence of 226.2 m (742 ft) and is classed as a Marilyn. It occupies a position in the very south of the main range of fells, alongside and just to the north of Parlick, to which it is joined by a ridge. The main paths approach the summit from Parlick in the south, Saddle Fell in the east and Bleasdale in the valley to the west. The Saddle Fell approach is as boggy as the hills to the north. The summit is covered in grass and peat groughs. A trig point and large cairn occupy the top of the western escarpment, with the highest point being about 700 metres (770 yd) to the north-east.
The word snape means "pasture"; thus Fair Snape Fell means "fell of the fair (beautiful) pasture".
Considerable areas of the Bowland fells were used for military training during World War II and there are still unexploded bombs in some areas, including nearby Wolf Fell.
We enjoyed our hike and we hope you enjoyed our little video - Chris, Tom & Emilie

Just having a pause of the video to say how good your background music taste is. Absolutely spot on 👍🏻 I have Not Blue on my 'Chill' playlist when I'm heading to outdoor locations for a hike. Great stuff. Good like-minded people the outdoor lovers are that's for sure! 🙂
Nice feel-good track isn't it mate
@@MCMOutdoors 100%! It's great 👍🏻
Really love how you have kept hold of some of your old school original equipment, like the mera peak jacket and The old rab down jacket etc would be good to see how time has moved designed/ specs on etc over the years also similarly with your tents.
That old Rab Summit is still gojng strong! Things are much less bulky these days
Nice one CTE. I love it up there and fairly local for me.. Nice to here Paris of the NW get a mention 😉. It's a fairly steep start so well done T & E in this warm weather. Paddy's pole is a great place to have a bite to eat. Take care pal

I am looking forward to seeing a family wild camp. Awesome. Well done on the outside education, most kids wouldn't know any type of bird and their song. 👍

Always impressed with how you handle the challenges that life hands you. I am an older tent buff and if you still have it would like to see a review of your old Mountain 25 North Face. That is one of the all time classic tents. ATB, Denis.
Still got that one Denis - going strong! Cheers for the suggestion
It's a good old walk that, the kids did well there Chris. Always a pleasurable camp up there too but not camped at Fairnsnape, one to get over and try eh!
