I did a book report in high school on the Hunter Thompson book "Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga". It was a great read and was written by Thompson, a "gonzo" journalist who rode with them for over a year, with the club members knowing he was only a writer and was gathering information for a book. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to know about these outlaws from a mid-60's perspective, about when these pictures were taken.
From u.k. I’m 67 now, and was lent Hells angels the Thompson Book by my pals older brother, when I was in my early teens. That first page still blows me away! Fantastic piece of writing. Book changed my life, opened me up to the counter culture on different levels! Seeing the photos of the day, makes it even better! Something about the 60s and 70s, bikes, cars, and general atmosphere portrayed in the photos. I prefer photos to film, just saying. Take care.
I grew up in San Bernardino, back in the 70s....lived a few houses from a Hells Angels member these dudes were the real deal back then....they were cool, but them dang Pit Bulls were ruthless
Grande postagem! Uma pergunta, essas são as fotos do fotógrafo da Life que ficaram guardadas por quase 40 anos? E que alguns anos atrás foram lançadas em um livro? Sucesso e abraços from south of Brasil. Outra quem canta essa sonzeira!?
Great photos. As a fellow that worked in a restaurant many, many years ago there was a guy that had a couple of cycles just like in these pictures he was actually a hard working man and cool nothing like the Hollywood Liberal view of a white guy on a motorcycle
I see several shots of Mother Ruth in her patch. She made them for the club back then. 👍🏻

I read that book when I was 10. Actually a pretty good book, though originally I got it because there was a picture of a motorcycle on the cover 😂
Prolly the only time I would really want to be in a MC
My father was in the H. Angles and my now ex father in law was the VP of the Iron Horsemen of Cincinnati. Imagine my life?
Some great looking bikes
They are!
Back when they really were the Filthy Few, just a bed roll on their bikes and off they went to party.
Great photies and way cool tuneage....Nice work!

how things have changed! Now it's all baggers and big windscreens

Hey man, time's have changed. Stop living in the past and look to the future
No big fat bully boys riding baggers 😎
Terrible music, doesn't fit the pictures, something from 1965/66 like The Byrds or Buffalo Springfield would have brought the images to life more.
Lame soundtrack
Couldn't find any gayer music ?
😂😂😂😂😂
great old b&w images. glorifying criminals ans sociopaths though? uggh
