So I went to see the movie which takes place in the 60’s and we all know those were different times in America. The motorcycle club in the movie is so over the top Hollywood stereotype biker types, that doesn’t exist in 2024. It was like watching that old movie “ The Wild ones” with a better story line.
Hegshot is really reaching to question if this movie is going to negatively affect the riding community, come on brother, did you even watch the movie?

In Fayettenam film is recreated in life on a regular basis. Gang members having shoot outs in traffic with decent people. Thank god most clubs are moving away from the violence, but there is always that one prospect all too willing to commit crimes.

I AGREE 100%. I'm a 79 year old Harley rider who bought my first of 23 motorcycles when I was just out of high school (1962) Real motorcycles had kick starters back then. A Harley Sportster and a can of starting ether went hand in hand. Never had to join a "biker" group to enjoy a days ride. Group rides are not all that safe anyway. Never can know what that one squirrel is going to do. There is not one (stock) motorcycle out there that I couldn't throw a leg over and have a ball on. I haven't lived this long on two wheels by being stupid. And, I've lived and ridden in Phoenix all my life.

Having seen the "Biker" movies from the 60's and the impact they had on a general society the Bikerider movie was rather tame. It did highlight a lifestyle that many men and women were drawn to during the 1960's and 1970's.

I’ve been riding motorcycles since 1971. One thing I can say is they certainly have gone up in price. I ride a Road King and also own a sportster 1200. Second owner of both. Back in high school. The Harley was the bike I wanted, but couldn’t afford. I saw the movie last night. I mainly went t to see the older bikes. Which ,they should have showed more. Riding Harley’s you tend to meet a lot of different people. I have had people say that the bike looks cool. Then you have those that say they’re dangerous, usually old woman at the gym and I reply back , so is being married, but I am still here. I did expect more out of the movie. I like where they burnt down the bar and where. The one guy said he was there to collect ,colors that were not turned in. Over all kind of thought I was watching a documentary.

    • @logangodofcandy
      @logangodofcandy 4 дні тому

There is no one answer. Anybody riding your tail might make you feel like they are pushing you to speed up. Other people might want to stop you from getting ahead of them. Some people didn't even notice and are acting based on something else that they see.
It isn't just you on the road. It's everybody ahead of and behind all of the drivers and they are all watching and reacting to everyone else. You usually aren't a consideration.
In my car, I give bikes room, but I assume they will drive as if I don't see them and will either try to squeeze by (hence the room) or assume I'm going to fly across lanes without signalling. I have no idea what they will do, so all I can do is give them space to do whatever they want. The bike still hAs to assume I'm trying to kill them.

What I don’t understand more than anything is why so many riders emanate the outlaw or 1% clubs by wearing the same costumes minus the patches. Trying to copy the “club style” bikes and dress in a way that sends the wrong message. I ride because I love to ride not because I want to feel like I am something I am not. Movies may persuade the general public to have a certain opinion about “bikers” but it has more to do with how we act and what we are trying to portray than anything else.

I haven't seen this movie yet as the release in the UK was delayed until this week, but a general thought on 'biker movies'...
It is a genre I love, but it centres almost solely around outlaw culture (or occasionally sport / speed record kind of thing). When I said this on another video, I was once challenged to say what I thought should be made instead...and it's difficult.
When Rob Cohen was approached to make The Fast and The Furious, he was shown a car culture article. He said "very cool, but where's the film?". And it's the same challenge for bikes...they are cool but that doesn't make a movie.
Right now the road trip movie genre is out of fashion, but there is a possibility for a non-outlaw biker movie in there somewhere (a non-comedy Wild Hogs); or perhaps a drama about the customisation world? I can imagine these being a hard pitch to a studio though

I've known some of the real "bad guys" and since the fun but stupid Sons of Anarchy came out always have a laugh at the posers out mean muggin with patches I've never heard of. It never affected my taste. I’ve always liked the classic HD look. Always will. That’s why I ride a Heritage Softail Classic. Teal and white. I like the chrome and classic traditional look 👍. And I’m not like every other bike on the road. It’s actually quite rare to see a classic style harley on the road these days.
If the classic old school look comes back into style then glad I bought mine before. Right now they are fairly cheap on private market bec they aren’t all that popular anymore. I grabbed my 2016 heritage with only 9k miles on it for 11k. It’s paid for 👍

Even though I'm not a cyborg 😁or a criminal it sure does feel damn nice to hop on a bike and get a little slice of the cool factor that the movies showed. Got my first bike at 19, a V-Star 650, and 28 years later I'm still as in love with riding as much as I've ever been thanks in part to those movies.

When brothers get together, at a bar or event, it can intimidate ordinary citizens, who wear ankle socks and slip-ons. Motorcyclists tend to follow the least amount of laws to stay out of prison, and are typically none compliant. That lends a mystique to the riding culture, and that apprehension keeps those individuals from tailgating you, or cutting you off. They assume since you ride a Harley, you must be a dangerous person, and act accordingly.
I use that to my advantage, whenever I can, if they fear a Harley rider, that’s on them. Personally, I ride my ride, and keep to myself.

I haven't seen the movie. Mainly because SOA turned me off to Hollywood's depiction of "bikers", and it's probably just another over dramatized version of the same thing. I've been riding for 43 years now, most times alone with just my wife keeping by back warm. Sometimes on a charity run with one group or another. There's one of the big 1% clubs where we frequent. Never, ever have I had any problems with any biker. Fuk the mythology, a man is a man, treat them with respect and they'll treat you respectfully right back. These "biker" shows reminds me of when I was in the Marine Corps and Rambo played at the base theater. Almost everyone was laughing out loud at Rambo's attitude and antics, but civilians were eating that fake sht up, buying Rambo knives and T-shirts like it would somehow make them a tough guy. Just like real active duty Marines laughed at, and wannabees worshiped Rambo...so is the trend with Hollywood's renditions "Biker" movies. BTW, I ride an Indian Super Chief limited, not a Harley so I'm giving an unbiased opinion. ✌️

From what you've written, I think you'd enjoy the movie.
I don't want to throw in a bunch of spoilers, but it's not really about the bikes, which I think is why some people have an issue with it, because they're expecting to see loads of riding. it's about the people, their interactions, friendships and the way they develop and change over time.
Sure it's set within a motorcycle club, but that's just the framework, really it's about the people.

I seen that series of ANARCY , and I even gave it a chance , but it was to violent for me personnely. I been riding motorcycles for the last 55 years and rode just about every model as I kept my Harley Heritage , At my old age in which I still ride in my 70's , I also have 3 other different models , But I just bought my last motor cycle and this is my 3rd Indian Chieftain Limited with 1890 ccs at 116 cu in annd 109 at torque , this bike runs smooth , fast and comfortable , and I love the 3 riders mode that If I put it in Sport Mode it is way to fast for me . I like that the new Chieftains are oil air cooled and I hardly notice the heat from the motor . What ever you ride , ride on and be safe . Pastor Hurricane Sal .
