    In 1967 when I was 12 years old, I my father announced to the family that we all were going to NYC to my cousin's wedding. I didn't even know we had family in New York. That trip was the most amazing event in my life. Not the least was that my uncle was the entertainment editor for a very popular magazine. He got us tickets to the press viewing of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Thoroughly Modern Millie. I was blown away by How to Succeed, and I watch it whenever I can. If I had to pick, I'd say this is my favorite song.

    Finch invades everyone's personal space EXCEPT Rosemary ... makes you wonder what's actually in that book of his ...

    I have been madly in love with '' Smitty'' Kay Reynolds since I first saw this as a kid in 1976, she was so beautiful and adorable.

    Way to beat around the bush...but great song and performance by Robert Morse, Michele Lee, and Kay Reynolds.

    One of the most useful songs ever! I've lost count of how many times, after a long day, I express myself with this song.
    It kind of makes me laugh, though, when Smitty is reading the ad about the vegetable plate. If each plate is $1.90, it would be a total of $3.80 for the two. Instead it's $3.58, so they're only saving $.22, or $.11 each.

    • @miamidolphinsfan
      @miamidolphinsfan 6 років тому

      In 1963 (when it was written) that was a decent savings....

    • @scotpens

      Adjusted for inflation, that 22 cents is $1.79 in today's money.

    one of my favorite scenes in the play. I'm Finch and its so much fun to do this scene with Rosemary with that awkward tension. Cant wait till opening night!

      Carlos how did it go ? This scene had to be really fun to do

    • @tarnower
      @tarnower 4 роки тому +1

      Not just the tension between Finch and Rosemary, but Smitty's annoyance at their feeble and failing mating dance. It actually turns to anger and then fright when she sees it might all fall through.
      Well acted.

    Feuer and Martin produced it...should have known..knew Ernest Martin in Hollywood...we worked together developing `Main Street` by Lewis as a musical. They were gret producers. No wonder Bobby Morse got the chance to reprise the Broadway role in films when he was an unproven film commodity...

      I think Daniel Radcliffe did well. I love the quirky Robert Morse interpretation. The one I wasn't blown away by was Matthew Broderick. Although it had its moment. There was a sparkle in the air because he was opposite his real life wife as Rosemary. Seemed like they were having fun.
