    You can still add additional storage (microsd, psvsd, usb flash) shown in another video soon. You need the usb functionality as described in the video and description.

      The behavior of Vita without the forced broken slot IS THE SAME JUST WITHOUT THE 3G CARD. You DONT NEED TO PERMANENT DISABLE THE SLOT. Just REMOVE 3G and reboot after the 1st startup. The SYSTEM WILL FORGET the card and thats it. DONT FOLLOW THIS S. F. TUTORIAL.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  2 роки тому +3

      @@naocomputei That's incorrect. You need to do both the software disable and remove the 3G card to disable the error and the crashing.
      The removal of the mPCIe port is to make room for other mods and to allow soldering to the USB points.

    Very nice guide. Had my 3G vita for years always wanted to do the battery mod but removing the 3G board seemed like a pain. Interesting to know we can remove the 3G hardware but still have the option to add an SD card using the exposed pins. Thanks

    I had major battery problems, when I’ll go to bed battery was at 100% then I shut it off and the next day it was at 35%. So it was draining even when it is off.
    I put in a new battery but that didn’t improve anything.
    Last thing I could do what’s to remove the 3G chip and sim tray. I did that yesterday and went to bed. Before I went to sleep the battery was at 89% the next morning it was at 88%!!! So it will help!

      But anyone reading this, you don't have to destroy the port like I did in the video to achieve better battery. Just remove the 3G card and the belt to the SIM card like hengelo... long username did :)

      You can also just disable the cellular modem by long pressing the PSVita button. My guess is that if they had the original SIM card installed, the console was searching for reception nonstop because 3G doesn't exist anymore.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  Рік тому +1

      Sorry no, to install USB host you need to replace the 3G module. On the WiFi there are missing components under the heat shields.
      Yifan Lu who came up with the USB mod (PSVSD inventer) thought it might be possible to convert a wifi board to a 3g board by installing the missing components since the operating system is the same... but nobody has ever tried as far as I know.

    I just stripped the two posts on the 3G chip :( I had the proper starshaped torx bit but I didn't realize how soft/fragile the screws were. You mention just removing the post, do you mean I can just use the wire cutter or plier method to remove the posts while the chip is still installed?

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  2 роки тому

      Yes! Be very careful obviously.
      I recommend the pliers - grabbing very tightly and rotating GENTLY. Careful for near components. Don't pull - just rotate.

      @@anderxale1 thanks for the quick reply brew
      so I haven't done this part yet since I needed to buy a pair of pliers... but if my only goal was to replace my screen, do I have to remove the 3g chip? (I got side tracked when following your disassembly video when I realized my model was different lol)
      I can see it might be difficult/impossible to manipulate the ribbon cable right under the chip if I leave it installed

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  2 роки тому

      @@abvidsify Along with the belt, there is a screw right underneath the 3G card on a grounding plate. You don't have to detach the belt from the motherboard though, just the controller board.
      If you have a tough wire cutter maybe you could cut the card at the posts instead of cutting the posts off.
      You can use a drill bit to drill through the stripped torx head further down, eventually the head falls off the screw. I've done this on a PS3, not a tiny vita.
      Since you are replacing the screen (if the screen has the whole front plastic), you could instead detach the belt from the controller board, unscrew and remove the r board and break the plastic that the screw under the 3g module (on the ground plate). I can't even picture this in my mind but I believe it possible - I don't recommend.
      You don't need to cut the mpcie port off - but if you cut the posts off it will be harder to use a the 3G to Micro-SD adapter PSVSD an additional storage option only for 3G models. There are more soldering ways to add storage to 3Gs if psvsd is no longer an option.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  Рік тому

      Nope! Just take the card out and change the registry setting in the software!
      If you have a red or blue colored 3G Vita then you need a special screwdriver, a torx T8.
      Remember to do the software registry setting or you will get constant errors after removing the card.
      Sometimes the screws on the card won't come out... removing the posts instead of the screws will help you remove the card. No need for you to remove the plastic port on the motherboard like I did.

    I will remove this board, but only the board, because I *think that this is the cause of the constant Gpu Crash I got here, only my 3g model do it, and it always happen a little after "Internet Connection Lost" message during gameplay(the message pops-in in the game, then, gpu crash) and it happens everytime in the same order, so I bet, it must be it;

    And my 3g model isn't jailbroken

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  Рік тому +1

      Yes. Remove the board and do the registry edit. You don't have to destroy the port just remove the card and change the registry .
      You may want to jailbreak only to turn off the 3G in the registry. Don't do permanent, just enable homebrew, edit the registry, and then reboot back to no jailbreak.
      Stay away from Enso and your jailbreak will be temporary.
      If you remove the card, the Vita crashes after error message until you do the registry edit. Yours might be doing it if the card is broken.
      I wish you good luck with your vita

      The only downside with successfully removing the port like this is PSVSD is harder to install (still possible - solder 4 tiny wires). A real downside is making a mistake and breaking something, be super gentile and careful each move you make. Good luck :)

      @@anderxale1 thanks for the quick response. I just learned about the PSVSD and it seems like something that would be cool to have. I don't think I want to remove everything as there is no going back to being able to install PSVSD with the OEM Vita hardware (no soldering), would it be possible to take out everything except the two screw housings and the PCI port? If i left those in so that way in the future I can install PSVSD without actually sacrificing the integrity of the OEM 3g hardware.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  11 місяців тому +1

      @@mariocolletti8475 The only difference between a wifi vita back and a 3G vita back is the plastic mold and the extra door for a sim card on the 3G.
      Also:
      By removing the sim card mount over the controller board (really easy) and removing a little plastic on the new Vita back can make room for the 3G card (or also PSVSD card) - doing these and the wifi vita back can fit a 3G. This wifi back replacement wouldn't allow changing the 3G sim card door to a MicroSD door. Meaning PSVSD MicroSD change is opening up the Vita. Every open is possible to break something - but if you just leave the card in it's great.
      Some notes:
      PSVSD (3G) isn't quite as fast as SD2Vita (Gamecard) but has some extra benefits like dumping games or playing game cards while having internal storage. Vita games can only be installed on either PSVSD or SD2VITA, not both. Other games like PSP or Roms can be installed on either.

    • @anderxale1
      @anderxale1  11 місяців тому +1

      @@mariocolletti8475 If you take the 3G card out, you will have to remove very little plastic to get the wifi back to fit. Also the SIM card mount will need to be removed easily.
      If you are at all willing to remove plastic from the back then you won't have to remove the mPCIe port like I did.

    • @mariocolletti8475
      @mariocolletti8475 11 місяців тому

      @@anderxale1 can't thank you enough for these responses. I'm sorry if I'm stupid and seem redundant. So you're saying remove the sim tray and trim some plastic on the inside of the wifi backing cover in order to get it to fit with the 3g card or PSVSD. My remaining questions would be, with the sim tray removed and the 3g card still in, will I have to change the registry to stop the error messages from coming up? If I had the sim tray out can I also just remove the 3g card whilst keeping the PCI and two mounting points? I like the idea of removing all the 3g hardware except the PCI and two screw housings (expired hardware that adds weight and potential battery drain).
      So it seems like no matter what I will remove the sim tray, I just wanna know if removing the card and leaving it empty is okay. If I have to trim some plastic on the inner rear wifi shell I will.
