    This had so much more content than DayZ today, it seems that all the updates are since release are adding things back from pre-release.

    I feel like .62 with a more fluid but refined character movement system .63 has would be the shit.
    The aesthetic is absolutely amazing. Very “sharp” and deliberate looking. Compared to the soft looks and textures right now

    I honestly prefer this dayz. People just treat it like only kos nowdays

      i think that’s what most of the differences between legacy and release essentially boil down to-combat is so unpredictable that diplomacy is often a much more appealing option, especially if you’ve been struggling around the map for any appreciable length of time.
      there’s a middle ground to be struck here between the clunky bugginess of legacy and the too snappy, simplified version of release, but I don’t think Bohemia was able to find it. either way, it’s been really interesting to go back and play this hot mess version of dayz. it hurts to think what they could’ve accomplished if they’d stuck to this vision of the game. it’s a subtle thing and there’s probably only a few thousand people on earth who really care, but I think I might be one of them. it’s a case study in how adjusting a few mechanics can have a rippling effect on the meta dynamics of a sandbox game.

      @@lemonbeans some of the differences i feel contribute are the gunplay system like how the longer you run the longer youre out of breath and how much the sway effects your accuracy. youre not able to just right click and ctrl and have perfect precision accuracy instantly. speaking of right-click, you INSTANTLY ads. faster than quick draw in COD. in legacy it took you so long to raise your gun you really felt like some random survivor and not a military trained expert marksmen. the breaking of arms and legs also add so much to gun fights. another main issue is how items in inventory dont get ruined. a silly exaggerated example ive given is you can shoot an entire drum mag into somebody's t-shirt and pull a pristine apple out of it. back in legacy if you were really interested in what somebody had and it looked like they didnt have a gun, there was more incentive to rob them or at least talk to them and get them to stand still so you can headshot them which compared to release day z theres not much reason to do anything than play deaf mute KOS. i also much prefer the old inventory system i felt it was just better in a lot of ways; not to mention everything that was removed from the games like books and pens which i absolutely loved.
