  • North-East of Kalimdor, lies the realm of near-perpetual winter: Winterspring (or Winterspring Valley or Winterspring Grove). The land is disputed by goblins (who live in Everlook), Furlbors (Winterfall Village and Timbermaw Post), night elves (Starfall Village) and blue dragonflight (Mazthoril).

    Man. I had it rough both with health and work, and this zone through vanilla was heaven for me. Going through a though challenge now as well. Guess that's where the nostalgia sets in. The feels, remembering all the hours running trough this zone. For a while, all i had to worry about in this life, was farming those herbs for the next raid. Discussing hours on end with ppl all over the world. Sitting on thottbot, trying to navigate the great mystery that was wow! A part of my soul is lost forever in this world, in a good way. Been a few years now since i left wow. The music though and memories,will forever be an inspiration. Winterspring soundtrack, a cup of coffee, to start out the day. Vanilla wow, nothing like it. Thx for sharing .

      At my lowest point in life yet probably with health problems and stuff that don't seem to resolve without the help of other people who are taking their time, Classic wow couldn't come soon enough for me.

      Will you start playing Vanilla again? I am going through something very similar with health issues. And these videos really helped me with the nostalgia of how easy things were when I played this game 15 years ago. Very therapeutic. I dont think I will start to play again because I feel like I might dedicage my time to other things at this point in my life. But I have to say that I feel very itchy about running through all these beautiful zones again. Take care!

      @@chribjslaha These days I spend my time on PS4, but I really miss the days of wow... I don't think I will return to Azeroth, but a similar MMO experience is very tempting. All the bad press about Blizzard Today is telling me that maybe somethings are best Buried in the past.

    No need to meditate when you're playing in winterspring. The power of relaxation is real into this snowy region. Especially the noise you make when you're walking on snow.

    Amazing how 5 years have come and gone since this was uploaded, yet I still find myself coming right back to this soundtrack all the time. This one and hillsbrad are my favorites, I like to still go and AFK in the zones for long periods of time and just remember.... Better times. I still prefer the original version of hillsbrad before the cata revamp but still, I remember the times I had out there... All the skirmishes, 1vX's, moments where I felt like Drakedog when abusing people in the 1vX's.
    Remembering all these things truly makes me emotional in a way that nothing else can, I find myself fighting back tears, even now as I type this. You see WoW wasn't just a game back then, it was an entirely different world, a different universe that encased the emotions and the love that the creators had for it and we've lost that over time. These new zones truly have nothing on the original world, in all these recent expansions I can think of only 1 single place that truly captures the feelings and emotions that the vanilla zones did, Suramar city. Have you ever taken a casual stroll through there and seen the city? It's one of the most beautiful places you'll ever see, they even have a menagerie full of adorable animals. I would like to believe that whoever designed Suramar city was also someone who designed some of these original vanilla zones that we hold so near and dear to our hearts. It's hard not to cry when you remember things like what these zones meant to us back then and it's made even harder by the realization that these zones are just forgotten.....

      Hey!
      Welcome to the channel! Actually, it is the _Dun Morogh_ sound track, reused here in Winterspring. I wouldn't call it underrated, because it is fairly popular among WoW nostalgic people :)
      Maybe you played as Horde and skipped Arathi Highlands, and you first heard "Mountain" track in Winterspring. Also, the ambience is playing an important role and why not... personal feelings. Music is very personal, I am sure you know that :)

    One of the most enjoyable moments in Azeroth for me is to give a break to the adventure, make a camp and just enjoy the amazing soundtrack and ambience in the fantastic atmosphere most of the zones offer. The notes and melodies in WoW's soundtracks always make me feel the intensity of the passion poured into crafting these music and sound tracks.
    I visit Winterspring from time to time, it always feels refreshing, and a little cold to be honest.The overall atmosphere of this zone reflects the winter theme quite well.

      I think this is what most of the people lack nowadays, patience. They don't realize it isn't a race. Just visit a zone casually, do something or just nothing, sit and observe the world.

      Just noticed your reply. Even though I'm not in game, the music just grabbed me again and put me into exploration mood. If everything else about WoW went in directions that would make me unhappy, I would stil log in just to continue to enjoy the beautiful world and its music and sounds.
      You're right about people lacking patience; I think not only patience but also appreciation of art. This age we are living in is not the age of art, it is the age of fast production and consumption.

    • @hawkstrike18
      @hawkstrike18 5 років тому +1

      @@Wow-stories that last paragraph might be the most serious realization I've read on any video related to WoW.
      Appreciation of art is essential for evolution/progress, since art is often supposed to make you think deeper as well. Of course, that's more of a general comment about art, as WoW doesn't do that, it just helps us relax, each of us in different ways... some don't really appreciate its (arguably) best aspects and prefer to see it as another fast-food-like experience, quick and shallow, but that's their loss in this case. I for one have always valued the music and the landscapes/skies, even mobs and the little effects or ability animations (most of which have been replaced in retail version, something that kinda ruined the warrior class for me). Others don't appreciate all these that much and they prefer to focus on numbers; doing the highest dps or collecting every achievement or mount... I'll never understand them, but that's how they relax. On the other hand, there are those who can RP forever (I envy them, never have I tried rp in my life though I like the idea and I bet you make more friends more easily that way), that's probably the deepest way you can play this game. Or is chatting as much as possible the deepest? :p I'm guilty of that, too, though I've never met any online friends in person 😑 still, more Facebook friends I can talk to outside the game, hehe.
      Anyhow, point was that many don't really appreciate the game fully. But many others do, and you can bet we like all the channels like this one, that let us relax without an active subscription (don't tell Activision!).
      As for those who are not drawn by any form of real art, I find them sad...

      @@Wow-stories Silvermoon, huh? In another dimension I've picked this realm (I like its name but for some reason I've picked Lightbringer, Darksorrow, Moonglade and Ghostlands, so far - and haven't played classic, gotta delete bank alts for that to happen, or simply wait for them to raise the max number of chars per account, soonTM).
      Anyhow, I'm always taking long breaks from the game and internet in general... Hadn't even used the YT app on my phone, thought I had logged out, and I can't find my password because it's in one of the boxes I haven't unpacked after moving to a new house (hope so, at least... wouldn't enjoy losing my YT playlists). Spent 2 months of 2020 in quarantine before it became cool, playing WoW daily, and now I'm on a break again and can't buy sub, but I'll return again for another month before Shadowlands, I hope. thanks for your reply. other ideas which I don't see anyone has done for classic are - blasted lands (which I think is plains plus the thunder ambience?, inc.the scarred vale, altar, etc?), either of the volcanic zones,. As you know, classic instances use other zone and event music - have you considered doing any down the road?
      Are you recording live from client the music/ambience mix or doing yourself?
      thanks again!

      Hi again :)
      So for Classic (pre-Cataclysm) zones I am planning just to capture them as they were. That includes adding the original music to it. At the beginning of this channel I made some mistakes as I wasn't decided in my long term strategy and combined Vanilla footage with music Cataclysm music, but I have changed now.
      It is in my plans to cover everything which is classic, just to remind everyone how it was back then. That should include instances too, but unfortunately I did not had too much time to act (I have made 87 videos in 3 months, and some of them are really long or take a lot of time to create them). So definitely it is an 'yes' for the future.
      As for your last question: I am creating the music / ambience mix, lately I am learning more about audio (e.g. now I am giving a lot of thought to how I can deliver quality ASMR). I haven't paid the necessary attention o the audio part because I did not had the know-how, but I am committed to learning and improving myself to deliver the best for my audience.
      Thank you, Kind Regards,
      Meisio

      Much older than you are, but a _man_ in real life, like you said - I went through the same emotions when I revisited Winterspring after 10 years. I level my hunter until 47 and I did not have patience to reach 50+.
      I went there and I filmed this movie. Mobs lvl 58-60 where chasing me but I managed to stay alive (most of the time) with feign death :)

      @alexisblanc7950 6 років тому +2

      Oh, so that's you who filmed this! Nice work! And doing this on 47 lvl...you're courageous :D
      Approx 2 weeks ago stopped playing wow...It was hard :( But I didn't have time for it at all. And today, while
      I was preparing to an exam, decided to listen to wow music as a background (usually listen to rain, snow wind sounds or smth). And right after the 1st second, after those touching piano sounds, I told myself, if I have a free month (don't know how it's possible), or I'm in a deeep deeep deeeeep depression (which is more possible and which was the reason why I started to play again 5 month ago) I will play wow as an insane nerd :D Because, I think you will understand my following statement, WOW gave me one of the greatest time that I had in my life. Those emotions...I'll never forget. And of course because it was when I was younger. Those moments we keep to the end of our life.
      Sincerely,
      Alex

      +Alexis Blanc WoW helped me pass through difficult times too. Also I had some though times in real life because I played too much WoW :-)
      Works very well for depressions but I hope you won't have it anymore and play WoW only for relaxation. What I have learned is that sleep works better than the game though against depression 😀 Maybe a combination of both?

    Started a Nightborne to test out the race and the new scaling leveling zone in WoW. I came to WP as soon as I could, and after being quite disappointed with the 'new' music, I had to come in here, and put this beautiful music on while leveling.

      Even if Neal Acree is a fantastic composer, what's classic has to remain classic. I like the new Winterspring music, but old players indeed are remembering Winterspring with "Mountain" aka "Dun Morogh" track.
      Thank you for your visit ;) Enjoy your leveling :)

      Thank you, and I dont think they should change the music in the classic zones.. It's the same in all of them, I think it's a shame. New music for new zones, sure, but the old ones already have awesome and immersive music so why not leave it. Thanks for the video and comment, though. :)

      I think they felt the need to change something after the Cataclysm events.
      But anyway, I am not defending Blizzard's decision! I am with you. I wanted the music to remain the same.

    Feels very Dun Morogh. I love the old soundtrack to bits but I didn't actually notice before this was mostly reused.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому

      It is the same track 100% like the one played in Dun Morogh. Vanilla WoW reused a lot of the tracks (like one of my on-line friends noticed (his name is "deficineiron deficineiron") tracks like 'Forest', 'Evil Forest', 'Mountain', 'Soggy Place', 'Plains' were heavily abused :)
      P.S.: Thank you for your visit and welcome to the channel. I hope you enjoy more of my videos (I the near future I plan to cover all Vanilla zones, but the big plan is to cover absolutely everything until Legion). I hope you come back! :)

    too bad a little bit more wasn't invested in this zone. By the time I'd finish grinding enough Furblogs to get the rep to make it through that tunnel into WinterSpring, I think I'd usually be pretty close to 60....excellent video!

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +1

      Hey there :)
      If I may, leveling in Felwood is ranged between 48 and 55 (optimal to do it while at level 50). By the time you will finish the quests with Timbermaw which can get you to unfriendly (initially you are hostile), you will reach maximum 52.
      That's where you can enter Winterspring. Or you can even do it without those quests, by killing few NPCs (4 maybe?) and it will not be a tragedy. If you are a rogue, hunter or a tanking class / spec you can even get away without any reputation loss. Or another idea, take one for the team and die couple of times in the Hold :)
      When I filmed this movie I was 47, on my hunter. Died once in the Timbermaw Hold :) So I guess it's doable if you are willing to start as soon as possible.
      Kind regards,
      Meisio

    One thing I noticed here was just how much I Loved the original lighting style etc.
    Could you please do me a favour and tell me what are all your graphical settings used on these videos please as I want to change my retail settings to try and best match the images I see here.
    I would be truly grateful if you could do this for me as I find the modern graphical style quite garish and far too oversaturated.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +1

      Hey Hellmut,
      Depends on the time of the day when you film (I've filmed here during the night). Also, please notice that I am also applying some contrast / brightness from Premiere Pro.
      That being said, while playing, I am using the desktop gamma which is configured to "movie profile". But if I have to translate that to numbers, it's usually brightness & contrast between 10 and 20% on each. But it's really hard to get you exact numbers... Probably on Retail you have to lower them instead of increasing them.

      I reckon that after some months of WoW filming I can do it better.

      @skittlebites1319 6 років тому +1

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +3

      Yes, why not. But probably I will be making them later on, because now I have some series to continue (Vanilla Zones, Vanilla Gameplay no commentary, ASMR, Legion, post-Cataclysm) and I can be accused of not having consistency. It really depends on how the channel will be growing and if I see other people requesting the same thing.
      I do apologize if it looks like a "maybe", I don't want to disappoint anyone, it's just for now I don't have the bandwidth.
      Thank you for the proposal,
      Meisio
