I would imagine the Fire & Ice light LED light underneath would elevate this technique as it would give the fire effect some movement visually. Nice job!

This is a great effect and something I'll definitely be making for Halloween! Your approach in using a bowl as a form is novel and makes it more flexible in application than others I've seen. THANKS for the inspiration!!!

Put a mist maker underneath and cut some slots behind the sticks and the orange light will illuminate the mist making it look like flames. With that dome trapping the mist allowing it to build you may not need a little fan to push it through, but if you do you'd want a really small, slow speed fan.
And you are supposed to hold the can upside down. They make that foam in variations. You have expanding foams that expand at different rates, foams that do not expand, and foams that dry soft. So make sure you get the right kind. Most of the foams you find expand because they need to fill voids in cracks during construction of homes and buildings. And if you have to cut into it after it dries it doesn't look the same as the part that sets exposed. That is desirable sometimes.
Most definitely wear gloves. I used to build competition mobile audio systems, and made the mistake of not wearing gloves the first time I used it to make speaker enclosures in kick panels. I shaped it while it was setting and got it all over my hands and arms. I scrubbed and scrubbed and it just wouldn't come off without tearing my skin. I'm a guy, so I didn't mind using and smelling like gasoline to get it off. It worked to get the majority, but it hurt. Even still it took a couple of months for all of it to wear off.

great stuff Fireblock foam is orange, makes a better base, dry brush black paint on for better contrast when lit, great stuff black pond foam could also work for contrasting dark coals

It's called "Great Stuff", but there are other brands also. It's used for filling cracks and gaps around pipes.

I made this but after a couple of days the foam has shrunk by a third of the original size. Anybody else have this problem?
