@@adamellsworth9462what if for example someone is stealing second base and pitcher turns to throw it to second baseman, baseman misses ball and it keeps going. Runner continues on, you’re saying this isn’t a live ball? Because it didn’t pass home plate? Not arguing just curious.
@@Dynamite-Bangthere is no balks in softball. It is called illegal pitch. Only certain illegal pitches are dead balls. In this case it’s an illegal pitch, ball on batter and it is live ball, runner may advance at own risk.
I could see this happening in softball but rarely in baseball. Mainly because of how they pitch. I thought this would be called a ball. And the person stealing second would be out. This also could be a foul. So regardless the person running to second wouldn't get second.
Well, I don't like it, it should be illegal. But the rule is; 1. the ball is live 2.the batter is awarded a "ball" count 3. runners advance at their own risk. Now the pitcher has to accidentally make this bad pitch (or has to be a good actress) because a pitcher cannot decieve the runners by purposefully creating a bad pitch.
in baseball the ball has to go to home plate (or near it if you suck like me) otherwise its a balk if the pitcher did not start their windup and stepped off to throw. but who am I to know, I only play baseball
A pitcher can throw the ball to any base. Just like like a runner can steal second and third or home. The person on first base ran to second so either way the throw is legal.
This is softball. They do not pick off like baseball. She was in the wind up to pitch and ball slipped out her hand. This is called an illegal pitch, Ball is called and runners may advance at own risk.
Illegal Play, if done on purpose. There is rules for pitchers, & this DEFINITELY would be illegal. Weird how folks want Bend Rules to get an Advantage. I bet they're team ISN'T good neither😂
I’m pretty sure it’s an illegal pitch so it’s just a ball and the runner should just go back to first but🤷♀️
It is an illegal pitch, batter gets a ball. but in this case ball is live and runners may advance at own risk.
@@Shaw_111 except the rule book says ball must pass home plate to be a live ball…

Ok if she was on the mound it’s illegal but if she wasn’t perfectly fine idk tho because I only play baseball

@Shaw_111 I thought it was a ball. Not sure if they made it to second on time.
That looks really close to a balk.

Thats a balk. You have to step in the direction youre throwing
It’s a ball or a balk one or the other nothing in between
Clever!!💪🏼❤️🙏🏼
Illegal pitch
Not a balk?
It’s legal a pitch can throw to any person first base second base third base our Home plate legal
Wrong.
Think about it. If that's legal you could act like you're about to pitch then stop or pass to throw off the batter. It's illegal. Bad spirited too.
It's legal fron what I know.
