- Here it is folks! A full week in the making; My biggest, and longest video yet!
The Clewiston Comet! Featuring non other than the beautiful 4-6-2 'Pacific' class herself; U.S. Sugar #148.
On March 9th 2024, me and my buddies took a trip from Daytona Beach, all the way down to Lake Placid Florida to start a truly incredible day of chasing the famous 'Sugar Express' train down to Clewiston Florida along lake Okeechobee. The train was headed by the beautiful U.S. Sugar #148 Steam Train! She's a 103 year old ALCO 4-6-2 'Pacific' class steam locomotive that used to pull sugar cane trains just like the ones U.S. Sugar runs on their rails today. Unlike her coal and oil burning predecessors, the #148 actually runs off... (can you believe it?) Vegetable Oil! U.S. Sugar see's the process of burning vegetable oil to power their steam tarin as more eco-friendly to the earth, as well as the sugar cane facilities.
A vegetable oil powered train, I've seen it all now :)
At the end of the day, we all went home with big smiles, a near empty gas tank, a very full SD card, and some intense sun burns. But I'd say it was all worth it for the adventure!
A big thanks to the Sugar Express Tour Agency, and the U.S. Sugar company for putting on such an amazing show! I'm sure all of the happy passengers we met that day enjoyed the ride!
An even bigger thanks to my buddies Tim Plesnik, and Connor Brooks!
With Tim's 100 MPH+ driving, and Connor's excellent navigation skills, we had an awesome time, and together, brought you this fantastic video!
Thanks again boys!
With all that being said, thanks for reading, enjoy the video, but above all,
Have a great day! :D
Bro dropped the hardest steam locomotive video of 2024 and thought we wouldn’t notice
Thank you good sir, glad you enjoyed it! It's no New England Railroading video, but it's a steam engine. So that makes up for everything 😂
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
Thanks!
Great Job
Thank you!
Is #148 wearing a southern 3 chime whistle?
I'm not exactly sure what type of whistle it is specifically, but I was told that morning she was wearing the whistle N&W 611 used in her excursions during the 60's
@@TROOJW oh so it's 611 old whistle they were using it brings back memory when 148 sister S&A 750 was wearing it as well when 750 was on the southern's steam program
