First Gen Sequoia Build - 35s with a 2" Lift

- Here is a quick look at my first gen Sequoia build, and how I fit 35" tires using only a 2” Old Man Emu lift. Because I am running the Kenda Klever 35x10.5r17 tires, it, there wasn’t much trimming required, compared to if I was running a 35x12.5. I am so impressed by the 1st gen sequoia compared to my old 5th gen 4runner build. With the pricing of newer Toyotas, the first gen Sequoia is a great platform for a more budget overland build.

Dude!! I live in southern colorado and this video is pretty much everything I plan on doing on my 02. I was worrying about re gearing. But if it wasn’t too bad, I’ll hold off until it’s in the budget! Keep up the updates!!!
I have 4 kids so I’m gonna do the 3” front 4” rear kit with HD springs. So I’ll be weighed down with gear. Just waiting game on budget and time. Did tincup and medano stock
I appreciate the insight and I'm digging the video!
Thanks!!
Please keep us in the loop with how the tires do this fall and winter because those are the exact size I'm looking to get in February for my 2003 Dodge RAM 1500. Especially since you live in a location that gets snow and ice being near Denver. Maybe you could also make videos where you are off-road to show how the tires perform at the same time. :)
Definitely some trip videos to come. Until I can get better gear for self recovery, snow testing videos will probably be minimal, as I’m usually solo. But I’ll definitely give an update on how they do.
@@adv_mnd totally. Thanks!
@@LightningTime777 They do very well in the snow, all conditions really. I had a set on my jeep I put over 10,000 miles on. Also drove from ky to co with them, I’m about to put them on my Toyota as well.
Imo you can’t go wrong with them. eBay seems to have the best prices at the moment.
@@swashbuckler5539 thanks!
Can you give insight on the suspension and how has it held up so far, has it been a comfy ride ?
I had the same tires on my JL they were amazing!
I’m about to try trd rims wrapped in 33x10.50s on my stock 1st gen sequoia hopefully they’ll fit
That’ll look good!
Hey can I run everything stock on 35s? With a 3inch lift?
Lol this makes me want to rip out my whole interior 😅
They make it too easy! A clip here, a pin there, a few bolts and presto blamo, it’s out!
Nice! Why did you change the upper control arm? Is it same measurements as stock?
When you lift Toyotas, they lose caster. Aftermarket UCAs help you regain caster back. The pivot is typically set back on aftermarket UCAs
Are you running a front and rear sway bar?
Only a front sway bar. I removed the rear. Drives fine on road (just a little roll), but definitely gives the rear enough to flex.
Change your rear Gears to 4/10 which comes on the stock stick Tacoma, it will make a difference. Do your research on it
The Sequoia stock already has 4.10’s. For 35s, 4.88 brings you back to near stock ratio, 5.29 if you want a bit more power and low end. This is the plan, but will probably do gears over winter when it’s a down time.
What about the diff offset ? Thanks.
Nope, I didn’t install a diff drop
