- In this video, I take the highly anticipated BRS Channel Alpha Beast and put it against it's nemesis. This Clone seems to capture and miss many details of the ChAB, it's actually pretty weird. I was hesitant in making this video due. to not wanting to bring Clones to light, but someone has to educate new comers and beginner flippers who may not know the differences between a legitimate product and a Clone.
This video was supposed to be released a long time ago, but sat in the editing room due to working on things in life. But I promised that I'd get this video out, and here it is!

Yea the 40 year old dudes with their thousand dollar balisongs talking shit to us youngins that just tryna live our best lives.
I'm going to go against the grain and support clones. I understand that they're essentially ripping off peoples hard work but hear me out. I live in Canada and live blades are illegal here, no American balisong company will ship live blades here. however I can go on aliexpress and order the trainer versions of the chab and buy the blade separately, bypassing the import legality. this is the only way I can get my hands on decent flippers for a decent price (minus squid industries trainers, but I'm not a massive fan of their square handles). I think if you want to flip knives, search around and find the best fit for your needs. My criteria was I wanted a live blade with decent tolerance's and the CHAB Clone was the best option available to me. I really dislike the hate on clones in the community because not everyone is as free to get their hands on the real thing. I love flipping and would love to share my tricks and tips but id just get shit on in any community for running clones. That's my 2 cents on it.
Same in Europe. Only couple "Made in U.S.A." manufacturers are willing to ship outside US. Also good knives are always out of stock. And for the Chab, a lot of people say the clone is better than the original and i have saw that the tolerances are perfection when tuned and zen pin construction gives the clone divine sound when flipping.

Not like the real versions are ever really available anyway. Especially now that people are constantly using bots to buy out drops in .02 milaseconds just to re sell them for 2x-3x profit. Gotta love the scalpers.

I rly dont get why some people are so butthurt over clones, it literally doesnt hurt anyone and theyre great options for people who cant get the real deal for whatever reason, especially considering their price
Exactly it's not like the real ones are having any difficulty selling out in 2 seconds...BRS could definitely make more knives and do more drops if they wanted to but we now live in a world where limited quantity drops benefits the makers...it costs more cause "it's rare" and sought after, also it makes people feel like, "oh man I better get that right now before I can't ever get it again, unless I pay re sell prices" so it almost forces some people to impulse buy out of fear if they don't they will be gone.

Honestly, I disagree a bit with your comparison. The chab is a bit on the heavy side, and as for balance, it's more handle biased than neutral, and it can have poor tolerances, especially for the price. BRS knives can be very hit or miss with their quality in my experience. As for the clone, zen pins are a bit more durable and easily repairable pin design as opposed to tang pins. The clone's titanium is of a low quality, so it's bad for modding, but it's durable, and very good for the price. As for tolerances, the clone can be both good or bad out of the box, but it can be fixed with some work, and the same can be said for the real chab. Both have their ups and downs, and yeah I'd say the chab wins, but not by a significant lead. I don't know if that says something good about the clone, or bad about BRS, but it is how it is. If you want something a bit better lasting for the long run, and that will hold an investment, get a chab. If you want a decently high quality beater with an insane price, get a clone (second hand so you don't support clone makers). Personally, imo chab is only good with both rounded handles, and inlays. Then it has a much better balance, and it'll sound like a kraken when lubed.
one thing, well-done tang pins don't wear down as fast! it's due to hardness and such
i agree with most of this, except for the comment about zen and tang pins. tang pins are a more durable system than zen pins when done right.
also, buying a clone second hand still affects the creators, since it increases the demand for clones.

Remember kids, if you or a loved one has owned a clone before, it doesn't make you a bad person, nor does it warrant an attack. I swear, if some people would just talk instead of bitch, there'd be a lot fewer problems in this community. I'm really thankful for people like this who have the common decency and take the time to explain why something is bad instead of outright damn you for even being within their vicinity.

you didn't tune the clone correctly then. My chab clone has no handle play and no tap because i tuned it correctly.

Perfect work, But the play and tap can disappear in the clone with a correct bushings calibration. Very nice comparison 👍👍

I think the clone has a better price/quality ratio. It is possible to slightly mod the bushings to achieve no tap.

No it’s not tho in my opinion I do prefer the clone in balance they way the knife was made is different the chab CLONE has less of a rear bias “which I prefer” as it was machined different on the end of the channel on the inside while the real chab was machined to recreate the idea of a spacer

Honestly, I appreciate the fact that you actually took a bit to check out the clone, however, I would like to state, my Chab clone out of box had the same tolerances as the real chab, I also had the alt blade, which made it super neutral.
Edit; the ending felt a bit iffy, ngl, the chab clone definitely doesn’t feel cheap, and it feels well built. ALSO, about being civil, you screen shotted my opinion on one of your balisong news videos and said “whoops! I triggered the bitch ass clone supporters!” So, I hope this means some change in how you respond to stuff, that’d be cool, I like being able to have an open conversation 👌
I’ve noticed some people’s chab clones are like yours and have great tolerances and some have terrible tolerances, do you think different sellers might use a different bushing supplier or something along those lines? Or maybe just goofy consistency?
Civil/open conversation was never an option. However I can agree that is is frustrating to be railed into a wall by sombody that has higher authority over you. If you openly support clone knifes then you deserve all of the negativity you recive. But if you can't offord the real knife I understand. But I dont support it, and I never will

Your basically just shitting on an actual good knife just like everyone else, if people don’t want to pay 500 dollars for a fucking knife, they don’t have to, and the quality is in this knife, for 100 dollars you get Titanium, and a great zen system on a knife that flips amazing, I would honestly say (my opinion) that the chab clone flips better than most 150-250 dollars knives.

Clones and cccs keep the hobby alive. There are not many in the community that have not started with or owned one or the other. I have clones that flip much better than some real deals

Also THE ONE now makes originals and they are pretty damn good. Very surprised at how good they are tbh. I won't really buy clones but I will buy their originals. You should check one out.

Personally I think the Zen ping is a upgrade.
so to start off, the copy clearly advertises it's steel as D2. which is nothing to scoff at and every bit as believable as any other knife manufacturers word on what's used really. so with that i think I'll go with the clone. cuz everything you stated may be true between them but it's all pretty infinitesimal differences and something only a true blue knife snob is going to give a shit about. $350 saved is enough to buy two more clones and a cheap lunch after the first one so it's not like the extra money is going into the 1/32" extra titanium in the handles. a little slop in the fitment? I'll take that for $350 in my pocket. zen pins are a highly coveted upgrade on them so kinda crappy the real deal didn't come with them because the clone knocked it out of the park on that. so shy of being a hand forged and crafted blade (which to my knowledge the brs doesn't provide) id be hard pressed to find a reason to spend that kind of money.
no matter how you slice it, it's not an Italian stiletto with mechanical devices and mechanisms and all that which actually takes serious consideration to make high quality even with a cookie cutter stamped blade like the one on the brs. brs will never lose its customer base. there's always going to be someone willing to throw their wallet at them for bragging rights but i just can't do it. not after watching that. so for that i thank you.

i have a real alpha beast, sits in my room and looks pretty. ill never flip it over anything besides carpet, way too expensive of a knife to beat up. i do however carry a knife every day for work and such and ive been wanting a new carry, think ive found it. seriously though theone (the company that makes these clones) do make pretty decent knives, especially for the money. ive had 2 falcons (one of their in house knives) and they are spectacular starter knives; i recommend it to everyone who wants to start flipping balisongs. if it wasnt for 4-5 week shipping (had one i got as a gift take 3 months) id have more just to toss around.
some people really love this hobby, and trust me i do too, knives in general are a great thing to get into collecting. but youve got to be mad if you think im carrying a $400-$500 knife around as a daily. these clones are around $80, still a lot for something youre going to beat up. your alternative real knife in this price range is the kershaw lucha. which i also have, also have it with flytanium aluminum handles. excellent daily knife, its built like a brick with steel handles but damn does it flip like one lol. to make it flip decent i puit $140 handles on a $140 knife. and now i wont carry that either! maybe im a bitch, but keeping them nice means more to me.

I wanted to get myself a Glidr Sahara, but then i realized i dont wanna spend so much money on a knife. Since i dont mind clones at all (if they are good, that is) i ordered the Krake Raken clone from Aliexpress.

This is superbiased. Before you start you say you are against the support of clones and you're sponsored by BRS.
I also highly doubt that anyone who buys a 100 dollar balisong clone is going to expect it to be as good as the 600 dollar "real" chab. So that was not the question that needed answering with this comparison.
The question is: Do I buy a 100 dollar clone, that is always in stock , and wich is a decent flipper, but it has some tolerance problems, bushings are hit an miss and is reasonbly balanced, and for 100 dollar you can beat the shit out of it and don't feel to bad about it. Or do I save 600 dollar, hope to be able to buy it when it drops.. oh wait, I'm in europe so I can't buy it, I'll need a proxy, and extra shipping in two packages, so make that a 700 dollar balisong with still a very slim chance of even being able to buy one, but but then, you got a balisong that last for years, good tolerances, lifetime warrantee? although in Europe so you can't ship it back again easily, better materials and better balance.
So is a real chab 7x better then the clone?
My advice for new flippers. Buy a ccc, see if you like flipping, buy a clone, notice it flips 10x better then the ccc, but it falls apart after 3 months, if you still like flipping save up for a 250-500 balisong and that'll last for years.
That being said, fuck clones. I've broken all of mine within 2 months and I'm done with them. Only to practice modding/ ano on.

As far as this being ''unbiased''... it's not true lol. The clone is nowhere near blade biased, it's still handle biased, but not so overly handle biased as the real chab. The clone also weighs about 10 grams less which is quite noticeable. As far as the grip on the clone, they've changed it to a similar finish to the real one. As far as the tolerances and play go... i've owned and flipped the clone for over 2 years now (and no i definitely didn't baby it) and it still has no tap and no play without ever taking it apart and cleaning it, so that just brings up the questionable things the owner has been doing to the clone shown in the video since the handles look very rounded off due to being beat. And then to top it off calling the BRS Chab a ''finished product'' while having deep and noticeable marks from when the blanks were water jet cut is just absurd... people at BRS didn't even take the little time to remove those marks and actually finish the surface, while the clone company did - if anything, the clone seems more finished. In my opinion the clone actually fixes most issues with the real brs chab and improves on them (apart from the quality of materials of course). If you want a better flipper, get the clone... if you want better materials get the real thing (but at that point just go for a different company because BRS offers inferior materials for the price compared to HOM for example).

What does ccc mean
Clones quality can differ. I have a nice machined clone with an alt blade (don't like ab standard blade) and it has zero tap and very little play. If I recall the clone weight was around 5.0oz and blade was d2.
Bruh I literally put KPL and the ring and click get louder also you just torqued the knife and when it still had play he thought that you can’t fix it at all but you can that literally means that the bushings are oversized which can be fixed by sanding on a 1000 grit sand paper and like I said the sound is amazing. I got a Theone chab abs it is amazing I love it also I don’t get how it’s blade biased cuz it’s schimitar blade shape and for a chab clone that’s perfectly balanced yk also I’m thinking about making my edges of my chab smoother and than anodizing it

I got a chab trainer clone (like the one in the vid) and I can confirm that you get what you pay for. Mine came with two sets of bushings, one set was way to big, and the other set is to small but usable. I'm probably going to end up modding mine cuz I don't care if it gets messed up since it's kinda worthless.
