- If NPCs were smart they’d probably learn to just stay out of the way in Assassin’s Creed.
Seriously, why on earth would you charge up a well armed shady character on the street by yourself?
Even more confusing is how curious everyone is about whistling and bushes.

Sliced mass produced bread is only about 150 years old, so that's pretty accurate to what people would do.
I make homemade bread and I'll eat a full loaf no problems, it's good. You know she did that in very few takes because otherwise there would be way more bread gone.

I always find it hilarious in Assassin's Creed games where they try to make the protagonist "against killing" in any way. There was a scene like that in Mirage where Basim got upset with a guy who killed another guy when I literally killed 20-30 guards on the previous mission in cold blood. My dude Basim is a mass murderer and here he is getting upset if 1 guy gets killed.
He was upset because Ali executed an informant after torturing him for intel, which is not only a war crime, but largely considered dishonorable by many warriors. It's typically understood that the deal of an interrogation is the pain stops once the information is given, and the honorable thing to do is to let the victim go or hold them until the conflict is over. I'm pretty sure that's the scene you're referring to, because it's the only time I can recall when Basim even flinches at killing someone.
There was a similar scene in ACIII, where Connor is ordered by his father to take several British officers hostage for questioning. Connor is confused as to why one of the hostages is so afraid
"We only have a few questions for you."
"Take me in there and I'm a dead man."
Then when Haytham finishes the interrogation he executes all of the prisoners. Connor gets upset, Haytham says the prisoners knew too much, and Connor refutes that justification by saying "You could have held them until the fighting was done (referring to an upcoming high stakes battle). But Haytham said it would have been a waste of time and resources, which showed the difference between Connor and his father. Connor, despite being a warrior, believed that human life was more valuable than resources and supplies.
That argument between Basim and Ali in Mirage was meant to mirror the scene in ACIII between Connor and Haytham. It has larger connotations that reference and foreshadow the ideology of future Assassins, that they try to kill when they feel it's necessary. And that executing hostages who just gave you intel feels unfair and dishonorable to several of the protagonists. Even Shay was a bit disgusted when Haytham executed an Assassin merc, spraying blood on Shay's face, after an interrogation, and Shay is probably the most cold-blooded of all the protagonists. Well...maybe second most, since there is Loki after all.

Assassin's always wearing the most suspicious looking clothing
People always question the flashy clothing, but that's part of the point of the brotherhood. The idea is "You could pick me out of a crowd of 100 people in a second but you still won't see me coming". It's about having a politician being escorted by a small army in the middle of a field and you still somehow find yourself surrounded by crazy MFers in blindingly white clothes out of nowhere.
The contrast of visibility is entirely the point. It sends the message that they don't even need to blend in to sneak up on your ass. Lol.

I would love to play an rpg with this type of npc logic. It would literally be the major selling point. Downside, of course, you'd never get the main quest completed since 90% of the time spent in game would be on dicking around with the npcs. This needs to become the 450 megabite FO4 AIO N'Wah mod.
