This whole video is invalid, you need to let people play their games how they want and stop being the asshole. You are the asshole. If they want to focus on the stuff that actually matters to them (aka main quest) let them do it, and if the game literally wasn't made with the main quest in mind then that is a problem. Its not wrong to think you can ignore side quests, thats the whole point of it being on the side, its been like this for ages, bl2 ignore everything and do the main mission. side quests are flavor and should never be needed.
You took a joke video far too seriously:
I AM the dad who works a full time job on top of content creation who only has a few hours a week to play games.
I suggest you get your head out of your ass and stop assuming the worst out of someone who makes SKITS and NOT COMMENTARY videos.
Someone has a shallow understanding of RPGs…
Is this video about you?!? 🤣🤣🤣💀
not even trying to invalidate u or w/e but if your point of reference of rpgs is borderlands 2 then of course you're going to think sidequests are for flavor. new vegas is a great example of a game where sidequests provide more than just flavor. they provide a full experience
Side quests are life
Bruh BL2 isn't much of an RPG. Its a shooter/looter. The story is just there to give you a villian as you play the hero.
A real RPG has you actually immersed in its story to the point you want to do the side quests to try and find out more. Hell some side quests in actual RPG games often provide more insight on the main story than the main story questline itself! Just look at baldurs gate 1 for example, which is probably something your sorry ass never played cause you think BL2 is a true RPG, which as I stated earlier is not. Baldurs gate 1 has many side quests that can provide not only new allies, but also unique gear items you will never get otherwise. So don't go saying side quests are for 'flavor', you absolute moron.
P.S. - Go play some real RPG games and not shooter/looters with a story for flavor.
"Are you a gaming journalist?" So accurate. 🤦🏽♀️
You really nailed the Bethesda sway in this video, Naiwal. Vacant, dead eyes, meaningless movements, perfection
Go back and forth at time
Going to see the tree worshipping druids in Fallout 3 is "just a sidequest", Vault 22 in FNV is "just a sidequest", the ship stuck atop the building in Fallout 4, Agatha's violin, hell even blowing up Megaton are all just side quests, but I have much fonder memories of those than getting a delusional AI president to turn himself off.
Sheogorath in Oblivion is a sidequest.
its funny in fallout 3 as a kid i choose to disarm the nuke in megaton a got a sweet house i also had a crush on the vender lady for some reason😂but my dad choose to blow it up and got a penthouse sweet super funny to me idk why and thinking about now had more choice in that then the main story lol
@@infernaldaedra eh it's a dlc and while it is optional, dlc tend to have their own "main quests" and side quests withing the dlc itself. So your right and wrong at the same time
@@harleygunn4783 No Im talking about the Shrine quests not the Shivering Isles. Lol there are multiple different sidequests for the character
And now I Starfield, helping some Farmers pool their limited resources to take out some much more well equipped spacers, or this abandoned Zero-G Casino that doesn't exactly have a quest attached to it, but it is cool af.
"If you don't have friends who play rpgs, get better friends." Actual words of wisdom right there.
I'm doing a side quest right now called Smash Them Fajitas. Props to the dev (me). Living deliciously.
The main quest is Watch Naiwal.
"Your role is to play the damn game!" Such a good line lmao 😂
Finding the pan for the old lady in the Witcher 3 is needed to get the full context of the story
Indeed
one of, if not the most, critical point in the story.
I remember that quest more than almost any other side quest
some nights i still lay up thinking abt what the hell happened in that grandma's house LMAO
1:31 “Why is this guy still using the pre-order bonus gear?” LMAOO
Low key epic rant against the hordes of short attention-span gamers. Love it. This man needs a team up with the folks at Viva La Dirt League.
Definitely a dream of mine
That would be an epic match up
Yes! I support this and agree🎉
Dream crossover
i'm a short attention span gamer and i do side quests cause i have a fear of completion cause i don't want my games to end...
Side quest guy is 100% the main villain, and he just won.
The same people who don't do side quests are the same people who wonder why the game is so difficult when they're under leveled at the final boss
He literally said this in the video
@@ktgame2640 yeah bluntly
He didn’t do the side quest of finishing the video before commenting
@@ThatOneGuy-iv9snha! Good one!!!
With the pre typed comment lmao
One thing that need to be pointed out about your skits is how good the acting is, makes them so much funnier IMO.
I really appreciate that! Thank you so much 😁😁
I love how you were describing a fantasy game here, but the "you know you can become a king right?" part fits seamlessly to describing the Independent route of Fallout: New Vegas.
Or civil war in skyrim
Fable 3... or 2... don't remember has that: you become the ruler of the place and you have to make decisions.
Spoiler alert!!! Just playin 😁
@@octavianpopescu4776dragon age inquisition makes you judge your fallen foes
My last playthrough of Skyrim I waited till about level 50 before I picked up the dragonstone, so there were no dragons, besides Helgen of course. It was such a different game without the main quest. Of course I did have to roleplay as a guy who didn't want to get involved with the threat to the entire world.
If you ever use an alternate start mod you can circumvent the main quest completely for that experience of just being your average joe.
and its fun seeing different dialoge where others would be like not having some because your not the dragon born or dragons not spawning
@@Ipennien like that dude in Kynesgrove. Forget his name but he's the father of that one brat in the inn. He has dialogue about the rest of the town being scaredy cats around the dragon burial site.
I just pretend I get lost in the wilderness heading to riverwood and end up somewhere else entirely. Because of all the stuff that can happen that's actually pretty serious in context of their quests one measley dragon doesn't seem important, especially when no one mentions it or seems to care anywhere else you go.
Oblivion makes a _lot_more sense if you do every side quest in the game before visiting Kvatch. Otherwise people are dealing with petty problems while there's oblivion gates everywhere.
This made me remember in Fallout 3 that completing the Wasteland Survival Guide is an entire side quest line sending you all over just because of Moira being unbearably naïve.
When the side quest turns out to be better than the main one
Fallout 4 and Skyrim in a nutshell lmao 🤣
@@BadGuy_Bigby1217 or Starfield
Fallout 4: The Silver Shroud quest line is amazing.
for a lot of games that's how it goes. so many of the memorable quests in RPGs are side quests
Every Bethesda game ever😂😂 Especially Starfield.
Me in Skyrim at level 61, having never set foot in Bleak Falls Barrow. Its nice not having dragons burning all your favorite npcs to ashes.
I dont mind Dragons. It is the vampires that annoy me the most after lvl 10
@@seb2750 Haven't started that one either lol
@@seb2750 Heard they're reforming the Dawnguard. Vampire hunters or something. Might consider joining up myself.
In my opinion, a good main quest in an RPG should give you opportunities to engage with side quests. A perfect example of this is New Vegas' main quest: it essentially acts as a framing device for the faction quests and signposts you to points of interest. That way, even someone following the critical path will still get a good sense of the world.
Don’t skip side quests. They usually add a lot of depth to the story and overall theme of the game’s narrative. A great example of this is recovering Fisto in Fallout: New Vegas
How would you ever run new vegas if you can't even get fisted by a sexbot?
Pffft
Who even cares about story and narrative what am I 6? I just want to fight things and blow things up with my fatman and shit bro lol skip all dialogue and kill em. That's why F:NV was so good, could kill everyone and still finish the game. 0 clue what any of the Fallout games are about and I have like 200+ hours in F3 FNV and F4, each.Blah blah blah daddy left blah blah blah shot in the head blah blah blah baby gone.
Hands down my favorite fallout game
@@maliasiwel7015 *pants down
"It's a roleplaying game, your role is to play the damn game!" Hahaha! Love it!
Right? That line had me busting out in laughter.
The Fable music just makes me think of my playthrough of Fable II where I just had to buy every house and business I could so I could make enough money to give the Caravans free rent. Those guys were homies and I was dedicated to paying it forward.
I would also like to note that my text tone is the Oblivion quest sound and I had the reflex to check my phone EVERY TIME you used it lmfao
Or Fable 3 where if you aren't a landlord over Everything, you aren't going to have enough money to get a "Good" ending for the game.
If Naiwal makes this game real I'll definitely play it.
Old school Cutscene based game. With Naiwal as EVERY character.
I literally choked on my spit from laughing when the NPC asked “Then why are you so stupid?”
They’re always like “do it fast” or “limited time” and like a year in game pasts and they’re still like “PLEASE YOU ONLY HAVE SO MUCH TIME”
Literally Skyrim and Fallout 4 in a nutshell. Had more fun slowly building up the Minutemen, joining forces with the Railroad and B.O.S., and kicking raider ass. 😂
Same with Starfield. I'm past 350 hours now thanks to all the side quests, while people like Game journalist and PS5 players are skipping the side quests and then saying the game is "an inch deep"
@@TraceguyRuneUh how are ps5 owners playing the game? Its an xbox exclusive
@@lightningrose3654 They're playing it on a console they're unfamiliar, PC or XBOX, and trying to get through it as quick as possible so they can get back to PS5
Honestly i absolutely love it when completing or not completing side quest effect the ending and the main quest makes world feel connected and makes it feel like your choices matter.
The fable background music was perfect for this. Kept waiting to hear about the "chicken chaser"
I did all the starfield side quests and exploration before touching the main quest. 80 hours later find out you get powers through the main story now I have nothing to use them for.
Ng+ and now you can be OP on them
It's not all about the end point, it's about the journey.
"May I do your quest?"
"Sure, pick 100 flowers."
this was such a big problem in borderlands when playing with people that in Borderlands 3 they made an option for enemies to adjust to player levels.
"How did a baker become a dark lord?....."
You would KNOW if you did the SIDE QUEST
Asking if he was a game journalist was a good idea. That's the only way I see someone not doing any side quests. Even if you only have like 30 minutes to play every day, the game is still going to be available for years to come. There's no reason for a regular guy to not do a side quest or two if he's not on a deadline.
People like those makes me wonder why they don't just marathon the game on UA-cam.
They can complete the story in a third of the time and can just pause it to keep watching later.
"Gaming journalists" who die on anything outside of "story mode" difficulty
its wild they gave a quest giving NPC all this meta 4th wall breaking lines to make you feel bad for not doing the side quests
The NPC trying to save the gaming community lmao, gave the player a free therapy session.
The allies thing does happen in the witcher 3, they help in one of the final battles, and that affects the post game ending, pretty cool. Great acting and roleplaying as always dude, your vids are great.
Side quests are just fun i remember the first time i played fallout 4 i went whit the minutemen and loved setlement building so much i had taken over 2/3 of them and Liberated the castle before even helping Nick, And the only reason i even helped Nick was because i needed more concrete and google said Park street station had a bunch.
Damn bro, NPC AI is getting more advanced every day
This reminds me of Dragon Age Inquisition so much l skipped some side quests just to found out l missed out on having new companions and allies lol .this skit hits hard
Some people just like the gameplay and challenge.
Meanwhile there's people like me that doesn't progress in the story until I can one shot the final boss from the starting area.
This is why I really like games that let you lower your level.
"That makes sense cuz I was like 'why is this guy still using the pre-order bonus gear'?" ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
I’m that guy who mainly does the main quest, but will do very obvious side quests that seems important or just something to do while I level up. Then on future play throughs I slowly do more and more side quests. That way I can keep the game fresh. It’s why I can play an RPG for years lol.
Been a pleasure working on the merch designs man! Gotta say those t-shirts look dope as hell 🔥🔥
The cleanest there has ever been
As a wise ghoul one said “ thou shall get sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time”
Love this one! I'm what my husband calls a completionist and it drives him crazy watching play rpg's. He's a COD or dayZ player though so ya know 🤷♀️
The fable music in the background is sublime
I love how in a lot of video game videos lately, I've been hearing the fable ambient sound tracks. One of my favorite series, still waiting for the reboot.
One day i was playing mass effect 2. Realized i was draining planets of their elements for 2 1/2 hours
'- are you a journalist [...].
- No.
- then why are you this stupid?'
man, this is gold!
Most creative merch plug ever lmfao
Damn, Naiwal, you were pretty hard on Naiwal
Clocked the fable music instantly
I feel like you've had this conversation where you had to convice a friend to play side qiests. I for one.. as an example have had the same fallout 4 character for 7 years. I didnt do/finish the main quest on the base game or the dlc until...2021. I just did all the sidequests and explored. I was in my 80s by the time I blew up the Institute
Ps I knew all the endings and every inch of the game. Via youtube and guide books I mean I'm obsessive about fallout. Have been since 3 when I was in middleschool. I just play really slowly.
Man I only do the side quests. The main is usually boring.
The fable music brings back memories
That Fable music is on point!
Ya, pre-order bonus gear got me. 😂
I've logged 24 days and 22 hours ingame on Starfield so far and still have not NG+
Funniest part about most games. I remember and talk about the wacky and cool sidequest way more than the actual story like 90% of the time.
The drip is immaculate.
I cant walk 10 seconds without doing a side quest main story can wait til i help this old lady pick an apple
"The evil dark lord is gonna blow up our realm!"
Hold on this child lost their Teddy Bear.
And that lady needs me to deliver this letter to her sister in the next town over.
I refer everyone to that one witcher 3 meme map that shows the fastest route to quest objective vs "the route I took"
My wife played the crap out of Amalur but as soon as the story was over she said "There aren't any more quests left."
I then pointed out all of the hundreds of side quests, to which she just said
"I mean all the interesting quests..."
She also wondered why I had cooler equipment than her character
This is right up there with people who skip dialogue or cutscenes, only to complain that the story's too confusing.
how is every single video you upload a masterpiece
Love the Fable soundtrack
Honestly did this in Legend of Dragoon and FFX. I was young, hated random boss fights. By the time I got to the 3rd disk in Dragoon I was painfully under leveled I couldn't leave the town you start in on that disk. FFX I legit was using Yuna's summons to tank/faint any real fight. If you buy an RPG, play the RPG.
Npc: begging, pleading, bargaining for help
Player: *Idle animation*
POV: It's the future and the A.I. in-game gaslights you into playing side quests.
You just descriped the entirety of Fable 3 (incl. the king part) and also I hear the Fable ambient soundtrack at the start :D
I see what you did there ;)
I like how im playing skyrim doing side quest as im watching this :)
The funny thing is I do work IT at a hospital and I do all the side quests.
Best example of an amazing side quest in a RPG game is the Bloody Baron quests in The Witcher 3. Absolutely amazing storyline that really shows off the narrative strengths, and it's entirely optional.
I've had this argument with these non side questing people waaaay to many times. Glad I can just show em this now. Thank you!
Even side quests are very important. Reason: More EXP = More LVLs = Being stronger; Better gear gained from the quests; (In some games) Better ending, which is something to feel happier about. Great job, Naiwal. Love your videos.
BRO your merch is sick asf!! Been with you since day one and you have been growing exponentially man its awesome too see. Good luck on the g fuel thing too. Buying some merch soon and already did the g fuel! Much love man on your way too 1 mil!!
I appreciate your support for real! Awesome to have you here with me during the come up!
Then there’s me going everywhere but the direction the main quest is in frolicking in the necrol of naubudis in final fantasy 12 when I’m supposed to be heading to see the garif
The quality of this content is simply astounding, all just from a good camera angle, and slight editing.
Loving the peaceful Fable Guild music in the background.
I'd have to level up by bank account some to complete that side quest, and even then I'll probably just leave it in the quest log.
This was me when Fallout 4 first came out. I played so many side quests and wandered the wasteland that four years later I didn’t even remember what the main quest was about 🤷♀️
"Are you a game journalist?" Damn! That was harsh! 🤣
"This is a role playing game. Your role is to play the damn game." 😂
"How did a baker become a dark lord"😂😂
God I can't imagine playing the witcher 3, rdr2, or even skyrim without doing side quests
"Here I am... BEGGIN'!" That part got me so good! xD
"are you a game journalist, cause that would explain a lot...". LMFAO!!
God that Glowing Sea merch is so accurate
You are dope as hell, homie! Making people laugh is a great gift
The game plot as described in the video sounds exactly like Pathfinder Kingmaker
Side quests gotta catch your interest if they wanna be done. But sadly most side quests are the same now days "i dont have this item and its guarded go get it please." I so wish they made sidequests like this now days 😂
Witcher 3 probably has the best sidequests. Those in bethesda games are not necessary because the ennemies are scaled to the player's level.
Counter point: You come across level 50 quests at level 11 and it feels STUPID because you're forced to roleplay that you leave that situation alone for a very, very long time even though innocent people are getting screwed.
As a game completionist I don't understand the terms"main quest" or "side quest". I see them as "uncompleted quest" and "completed quest".
This! This! This! This is one of my friends down to an absolute T! And you nailed it! I'm playing witcher 3 right now & the side quests ARE the game, it's amazing!
JUST DO THE SIDE QUESTS DOOD!
Awesome as always Ian!
Each time I play a game with side quests, I always try to do all the side quests for that character
Loved your Greg the baker became the dark lord by using his bakery for necromancy bit.. Genius story right there I'd love to see in a game... Hilarious😂
You spittin facts my n’wah!😂…every side quest before starting the main quest!
gotta love the fable music in the background, a man a of supreme taste as always dude!
The reason we wanna play an open world action adventure game is for the amount of content it has including the side quests ofc.
