- Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #377
Date of adventure: 10/11/19
Exploring an abandoned Death Valley mining camp where a Basque "single blanket jackass prospector" named Pete Aguereberry lived and worked a claim for 40 years! This little camp gave me the idea to remake an updated version Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, only set in Death Valley -- starring a certain nosy UA-camr ;-)

Wonderhussy, you make a very interesting, articulate, and thorough living history teacher!!
By the 21 bar grill it is a 1948 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette slat back. High class auto.
The 1947 Roadmaster also has 21 bars, how can you tell if it's a '47 or '48?
Does it mattef???
Holy cannoli, it's a Nash alright. The back seat turned in to a bed, single or double. Fathers of teenaged girls feared these cars!
Coolest opening music ever! Pete Aguereberry was a tough hombre, he got introduced to the Death Valley by almost dying in it. And he worked his mine nearly all by himself until his health got worse. What a cool place
Straight 8s were tough,And that ol car had a big hitch in the back for haulin stuff around,Great video!
I think that hitch was its downfall. My bet is it was towing a heavy load out there when it overheated and either blew the head gasket or cracked the head.
Love where your imagination goes to the adult twist on things. Your adventurous spirit is fantastic.
THE OLD BUICK AND CABINS HAVE SURE DETERIORATED SINCE I WAS THERE OVER 40 YEARS AGO!!!!!
INTERESTING VIDEO 👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome 👍👍👍👍 Wonderhussy the car is 1948 Buick in the video#377 I have a Buick 2008 Lucerne CXS cool 😎 car great video your doing good job on the video and I enjoy it 👍👍👍👍
That Coleman range worked exactly like a Coleman camp stove. The liquid fuel flowed into a tube called the generator that went through the flame which heated it to boiling thus turning it into gas which was then burned.
Should have continued up the dirt road to Aguereberry Point. 6-1/2 miles of road constructed by himself to a promontory point, where you can see the highest(Mt Whitney) and lowest(Badwater) spots in the contiguous USA. Mt Charleston also..It is really a cool place.
Hey Wonderhussy, just subscribed to your excellent video that you have shared with the rest of us out here. Wonderful history of the Aguereberry Abandoned Death Valley Mine Camp. Amazing what the old timers used to do out there in the middle of nowhere. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you again for sharing your videos. Respectfully, dd
Hello well in 2019 was on a 6 month retirement/ vac and 5 states trip June thru Nov and i'am starting to watch this video. I was here spent about 3 hours looked at the tunnel and ming area far out when I came in I came from main road in about 3 miles seen the cabins first had a great time there is a lot more there from what I found cjd wash state thank you wonder Hussey 😁🇺🇸 GREAT video thanks again 😁
I loved this video. Thank you, Sarah, for all the energy, expense, the time you put into your videos.
I love your imaginative narratives, keep them up!
Awesome adventure there wonder sweetie!!!! I can't believe there's so many abandon places , awesome Job your doing
Approaching 100,000 subs. Sarah if your channel gets any bigger, you are going to have to get a TV show LoL. I could see you as a TV star. Love your videos ❤️.
Great explore Wonderhussy, love the snow white remake idea, As a 4ft 9inch chick I guess I could play a dwarf if I let my lady mustash grow a lil bit if not can I be a tumbleweed? haha love exploring with you Sarah
Vag fest, leave them sausages behind & do all female dwarfs.
The car that you found is a 1948 Buick 2 door sedan. I learned to drive in San Francisco in a 1948 4 door sedan straight eight and a three speed manual on the column in the 60's. I passed my DMV test in Los Gatos in a 55 Chevrolet with a manual 3 speed and the examiner could not believe how well I drove it on the hills.
One of your best videos
Thank you for taking us for a tour of this mining operation! Wishing you another great adventure and stay safe on the adventures!🧧😁🌺
That's remarkably preserved. Nice video Wonderhussy.
straight 8 engine , smooth as they come .
6 = 8 Twin H Power! The wreck isn’t a Hudson, they had big straight 6’s. But straight 8’s can be smooth like butta. I had a Packard straight 8 once and can attest to that. This car looks like a GM product, maybe a Buick or Caddy.
is smoother than an inline 6, but smooth as they come is the Caddy v16 of the 30s
By the 21 bar grill it is a 1948 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette slat back. High class auto.
Thanks Sarah..great info..great video, love seeing all the old appliances..kind of a sad story tho...you r beautiful, make-up or not✌❤😊
Always have to see the rusted out cars.
Very interesting video.
Great video Sarah
I've been to Aguereberry point and the view down into Death Valley was impressive. I wish I had known about the parts that you visited.
My wife and I went up to Aguereberry Point to see the sun rise on a new year January 1 2001! Fantastic!! But colder then a witch’s thorax!!
Very cool video WH. I read Pete's book. He originally discovered the claim, but Shorty had the bigger mouth.
Amazing the modern conveniences in that remote desert cabin.
@eclemensen Wondering same thing. Probably generator unless other settlements nearby. Seems awfully remote.
You haven't missed a beat kid. Keep it up. Oh and I almost forgot: THANKS!!
If you ever get a chance to go to Northern Spain, check out the Basque History in Pampolna where they run the bulls. Fascinating place.
And a large percentage of Basques have Rh negative blood types. A very rare type!
.....Like your smile.....Love your style.....Glad that you could chat a while.....!!
Careful. The old rugs had asbestos in them linoleum too.
There is a book about Pete; you can get it at the Death Valley NP Visitor Center at Furnace Creek. He was murdered at the Saline Valley Hot Springs. Someone hit him over the head and took his wallet. He is buried in Lone Pine at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery. The book is a good read. Shorty Harris is buried along West Side Road.
Thats even mote crazy
Wish I had a set of those Buick tail lights...Bet the mine was worked till 50's.
Nice job ! Great travels
The Snowhussy! Shirtless miners show up and smell something good cooking! 😎
😅😮 yeah , 7 dwarves ...
something about , " Getting up Grumpy ..." lol 😅😊
" Snow White refused us any favors ..."
So much has been destroyed or is missing since I was last there 15 years ago. It's a dirty shame what people do to our historical places. By the way the name is pronounced 'Ack-a-berry'...
Another History Lesson. Great job! Stay Safe!
there are basque restaurants in Bakersfield. my uncle would take me to them from his home in rosamond
Thanks for posting these. Now I know great places off the beaten path!
T've got a great trip for you Underwater at the Boone terre mine ing complex In Boone teere ,mo. very clear water with guide tours. It was an an old abandon lead mini with aii of the mining equipment still preserverd under water very cool to spend the day. hope you can come Rick Sitzes
also boat tours
The solitude. No nagging wives around complaining. Perfect. Appears to be a late 40's early 50's Buick
Awesome.....I think that car was a Packard. Its huge. ..lol
Low house to save heat, and be cooler ..🍾😁😁😁😎🐕
That car looks like a Hudson.
I would walk around on my knees to be a dwarf for you, LOL
That car is a 1942 Buick Sedanette Fastback. At first I thought it was a 1941, but they changed the grille in '42 and then didn't produce anymore cars until after the war.
Great Wonderhussy Wednesday!
There is a TV serise called "Once upon a Time" where all the classic fairytale charcters are trapped in time in a modern small town called Storybrook with no memory of who or what they really are. Iy ran from 2011 to 2018..
It’s a miracle! Holy krycks😆
love your imagination.
ROCHESTER had sheep and basque, down the hill toward the road union
Ville area. Plenty of sheep, and one black sheep surrounded by white sheep.
Concerning your comment about him taking a shower there every morning, it is my guess that miners took their showers in the evening after their day of dirty work.
I have a question.... how did Pete get enough water to keep the water heater charged, and how’d he get electricity to run the camp? Wonderhussy, say hi to Larry, help each other, and you guys stay awesome.
I wondered the same-it must have been well watered when the mine was working-since that tree was able to survive. I think we entered a new drought cycle in the SW around 1970-which means that Death Valley is about to get evendryer.
Thanks for the video. I imagine their accommodations we're a lot rougher in the beginning. I wonder where they got the water which would definitely be needed.
Idaho Rider --- . . . and what made the electricity that powered the refrigerators? Were they used as ice boxes, rather? Imagine the long haul, then, to drag blocks of ice back. And did they have septic tanks? No outhouses, so they must not have had toilets just for impressing visiting relatives. (as if)
Just Holy Wow.
rusted hulk was an old Buick. Take note of the 'straight eight' engine!!! Sara, the pronounciation is "aga-berry".. There is a viewing point high up in the mountains named after him..
“Sausage Fest”. Wonderhussy, is that what I heard? Lol. It is too bad people have to trash things.
Yes she did say "sausage fest" Taz! She's so quick and funny and entertaining. I'm such a fan of hers☺
William Keith : I do like her stories. I believe she had participated in our Portland, Oregon nudie bike ride one year.
You guys are a bunch of nerds get over it.
Telescope peak...........calling my name.
You should write stories you have a vivid imagination, at least your comments leave vivid thoughts. Snow whites dingleberry activity is her own business!. Love your videos you are awesome.
That's probably right probably a Buick they were pretty well known for using straight eight engines
lots of snow here in buffalo ny looks nice there
I think your movie would be a crack up 👍 I'm kind of surprised you never filmed Scottys castle. A very sad/funny story about the real owners wife and how she died.
Just saying. 💜
At today's gold price of $1478.00 per ounce that would be $12,932,500 worth of gold! $323,312 per year for 40 years! Not bad.
that's an old buick from the late 1940's and its awesome.
That Buick Roadmaster with the FireBall Straight Eight was not a cheap Car to purchase new. Sense Pete was here into the 1940s, that Buick could have belonged to him
The refrigerators may have been gas powered. Versions are still made for camper trailers and such to this day. Fascinating story about Aguereberry...and fun idea regarding doing
a Snow White type film at the place(8-). Great video all around. Thanks, Angel Face(8-)
Love your adventures and narratives. I wonder if the refrigerators were propane powered since I doubt there was electricity out there.
What has to be from 1933 to 1954 Richie when they built the Pontiac straight 8 you have to be an old buzzard like me to know that but it's definitely cool no matter how tore up it is
Amazing as usual. Short Attention span, pretty sure i got it.
The mtn to the south if the sun is shining just right, looks like shining Alum foil.. been there done that. And tele peak trail is good too.
Great video Sara. I really hate vandals...
Ms Wonderhussy you have a great lust for life,,, Appreciate your curiousity about history. Pretty great trait!
Appreciate your historical documentaries, with your twist! I'm sure you will have dwarf auditions!
just watched this then the Bask one and from there to the one were Larry saw his first hieroglyphs that you said were near Vegas. when i was a kid we use to go out to Grape Vine canyon there were a lot of hieroglyphs there also. lived in Vegas 82/83 spent a lot of time in the springs in the canyons below the dam.
I like these old towns Sara ya do a great job without any spin. I like EWU Crew but they have now gotten away from doing old towns now. Merry Christmas we can say that again instead of happy holidays...........
You are a Funny Girl, I like ur sense of humor! LMAO... Wonder Hussy and the Seven Midgets of Death Valley!
Pretty amazing ow they used gasoline back in the day given how explosive it can be. I've seen gas blow torches, my grandfather had a few of them. They were old and I never actually saw one in action. Can't imagine using it with a stove. Amazing!
Sausage fest... ha ha ha ha ha! Never heard that one before. I love it!
It's a Buick 1947 or 48
hes right
Maybe even a '49.
Great job showing theses interesting places. Really improved since some of the earlier videos I binge watched but those were good too. Listening to the talk about smoking made me grab an 1/8th at local Boston dispensary. I haven’t smoked it much since the 70’s/80’s. $48 and 22% sales tax. The stuff still isn’t my favorite. I just ate about 8lbs of peanut M&M’s and my stomach is killing me. I’ll stick with Xanax and Klonopin to mellow out.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that you have a snow white costume in your wardrobe.
Here's an interesting statistic. 6 out of 7 dwarfs are not Happy.
Hi Ho,hi ho, it's off to work Sarah goes. Making another interesting mine video with an added backstory. ;)
Going to pass on that Dwarf job, thank's anyway. Wife says I'm not short enough.
Good luck with your 7 dwarves. I'd bet some would pay to watch.
Thank you Sarah,OH THANK YOU FOR THE SHOTS OF THE BLUE SKY!!!!!!!!!...Great job on another WH video...The car,Nash? You Rock..Safe Travels stay well
Really appreciate the extra effort in doing and sharing some research. I've puttered around many of the places you talk about (including this mine and camp) and you've inspired me to explore some more. Your videos are kind of cliff hangers with all the eye candy, and little history, so I always end up doing a lot of reading up to find out what happened at these places.
Leave that spelunking to that Exploring Abandoned Mines maniac. Takes one for the team's and leaves everyone else squeaky clean. Both appearance wise and legally!!
great adventure as always Sarah,im not sure why the guy would have pink doors and trim in his house but ,hey,to each his own btw get crafstman to send you a couple of dimes for advertising their name on that beautiful melon of yours,Sarah its been a such a pleasure darlin, please stay safe and blessed!
I wonder where their water source was.
Early/mid 50's 'Hudson', the lowest to the ground auto ever built.. You could actually house a family inside..!! LOL!
pjf -- I called out "Hudson!" too. Twice, in fact, thinking that Sarah could surely hear me.
Nope, Buick of a 49-ish vintage. Hudson never had an overhead valve straight eight.
@@oceannavagator -- This may have been a prototype because it's a Hudson. (I'm laughing). Hey, you really an ocean navigator? My dad was a harbor pilot.
definitely a buick '49ish
I thought Hudson right away too, but the grill looks like a Buick. Not a 1949 though, the back side window is different. Oddly enough, the back window from the 1949 is like the back window on the current La Crosse. Nothing new under the sun I guess.
CHILL, It looks like a run of the mill-
mill to me. So no big thrill. But I love this vid kid.❤
Perhaps my eyes deceive me, but that hot water heater looks newer than a 1940's model. AND its gas fired. did someone hang out here after the principle miner died. did he have a large propane tank sitting out back . did he, could it be.
The link to order the calendar does not work. Please fix!!
Remember the dwarves in middle earth were miners but there are laws about giving alcohol to miners. As for the (I think Dodge)I picture you in a Zoot suit posing with a Tommy gun:)
Nice vid wh
Looks like a Buick 1948 could be a 47 but more likely a 48 without doing much research
