The actual knock against the Cayenne is; The wiring harnesses we’re built at a time where the plastic insulation just falls apart after a decade or so. The whole wire harness just starts disintegrating. Then, it costs more than the vehicle is worth to replace.
As a Ferrari enthusiast I laugh at those who speak negatively of the Ferrari California and specifically those who claim, "It's not a real Ferrari". The Ferrari California pays homage to the original "California", 1957-63 Ferrari 250GT, and when you ask these same people what they think of the Ferrari 250GT they always, ALWAYS say that they love it, and they typically reference Ferris Bueller. Nuts and bolts: People who criticize the California as not being a real Ferrari know nothing about Ferrari.
@@Rgh71fish Ferrari offered the manual as an option on the California for the first few years of production however only two (2) were built. One of them is in the UK not sure where the other one is.
Well, she brought it up so, I'd like to see April's top ten, "He's compensating" cars. What cars say, "You're a really nice guy but you seem to lack, um, confidence." to a woman?
My father bought the Trans Am WS-6 you talked about at Barrett-Jackson about 6 weeks ago. They are a great car for the money!!! It only has 26k miles. It's for sale at Meyer Auto Center in Maryville, MO.
As an owner of a 2005 Cayenne Turbo, I love the car. I picked it up in 2021 with 20k miles and have loved it ever since. I tow our boat and e46 M3 to/from the track with it and its a champ.
They didn’t mention it… but the fact they get like 8 mpg is one reason they don’t bring more money. It might be ok for a sports car you drive a few miles on a weekend, but most people buy suvs to haul the family around and put massive miles on commuting. Cool car but that extra $100 a week can go better places than the gas tank.
Actually agree with most this list. Definitely the imperial. The jeep seems like where it needs to be. They made so many and everyone had a jeep friend that constantly needed a ride on Monday because they broke their jeep that weekend.
I can relate with you totally about cars my late wife Use. I had an RX-8 2006. Engine blew for no reason and it took a month for them to crate a new engine from Japan in. Took them three months to fix it and it was supposed to be under warranty. Still ended up paying thousands to have it fixed. Service record was flawless. Great car aside from rust and engine issues. l Will never buy another Mazda because of it however.
The H2 was definitely a good one for this list. It is a drivable version of the h1. I drove by a stretched h2 limo and it was what every high school prom night was ballin’ if you got picked up in an h2 hummer. I knew some guys that would buy these h2 and always wanted to get their hands on an Alpha. The RX8 is the clear winner here, rotary engine is easy to work on if you know what you’re doing and have a great understanding of machining. I went to college with a man who’s family built and raced rx7’s and he knew all the tricks to make a NA rotary have as much power as a small block Chevy. The man was a genius about port timing and understanding what goes on inside a rotary engine when it’s running and under stress. I helped him with his autocross build but never got around to seeing it race.
1st generation Cayenne turbo have a reputation to cost insane money to keep them on the road. Probably deserved, but likely made worse by the cars getting into hands of people that don't maintain them and wait until they break, then getting hit with all the delayed maintenance on top of the extra costs of stuff breaking because something else broke turning into an avalanche of parts and labor.
April:Tyler::Lucy:Desi I didn't expect April to giggle like a 12 year old over the term; Sperm Whale. Both of them sill retain their inner Indigo Child.
I have been daily driving a 2010 RX-8 for almost 9 years with no problems. Just make sure to get the Series II (2009-2011) manual trans models. Once you know the quirky things you have to do to make them reliable, they are a dream. I bought mine for only $10,000 with 42K miles in 2015, and my only issue with it is the 16 MPG gas guzzling. Yet, I gladly accept that to redline at 10,000 RPM every day! PS: You can always rebuilt or replace the rotary engine for about $8-10K if it loses compression (usually at 100-150K miles on the Series II).
Well, I recommend dont get a mainstream car. Parts can be more expensive and if you go to shows, will stand out more. Sure, some might be top of a class, but plenty of good stuff that is easy on the pocketbook.
My brother has RX-8, of course the motor lost all compression at 100K (he was on his way to a track day when it started throwing all sorts of codes). I describe it as a car that offers the performance of an economy car, the utility of a sports car and the MPG of a SUV
So true. I used to have 2005 Acura RSX Type-S which was considerably less expensive than the RX8 and faster. Also more reliable, more practical and Honda Civic gas mileage. At a track day, I caught up and passed an RX8 on the straight. The driver was shocked. My Acura was bone stock, BTW.
I hope to see the H3T come up. The only real Hummer truck until the $100,000 EV, only a few thousand made over 2 model years before the brand went under, you can get them with a V8.
that h3 Alpha was pretty good ... same Chevy Colorado platform, but its now starting to get hard to find parts believe or not... have a friend who put a Magness superchager in that thing... was pretty damn cool. i think he had to upgrade the trans ....
As a former H1 owner I can tell you that there's no comparison, and my wife can attest. ;) That said, I once had a boss years later who had an H3 and he was incredibly proud of it. One day he was arrogantly speaking about it and he said, "People move out of my way when they see that coming". I just smiled and replied, "No they don't.".

Good list of cars. Hard to say on some of them. Human preferences are really a strong factor on some of these cars regardless of production runs or limited availability.
I don’t think stock Hummer H2’s have that negative stigma attached to them anymore. They’re still excessive, but in a goofy way. Years ago I used to drive my aunts H2. I thought it was hilarious, and me having to freefall out of it was icing on the cake. Everyone else got a kick out of it too. Maybe they were laughing *at* me not with me, but it was still a lot of fun 😂 I’m considering getting one.

Agree on the first 3 generation vipers and LS1 T/As, bargains for what they are. I think many are afraid of the Porsche maintenance costs, lots of $. RX8 is an interesting choice.
Certainly production of Dodge Viper would come to an end, with what I say was a short run compared to Corvette or even exotics like Lamborghini, Europe doesn't share the same Sentiment as America on American brands. Viper was our Lambo. I'm sure Wizard would agree..😅
Agree with Tyler H2 will go up in value. It's a very capable off-roader as long as you have heavy duty tie rods and upgrade the transmission. It's unstoppable. Also have a in line 6cy Wrangler that will also go up in value.
Good list - I think the W221 S63 from 09-13 should be on the list - especially the 09-10 - NA 525 hp super sedan...the last of the 6.2 V8's.... and you can get it in the high teens to low 20's with under 100k ... better choice than the RX8 I think. The California is an absolute gem... along with the Maserati Gran Turismo.
Interesting list, not sure about the Imperial or the Mercedes though. Realistically they are parts cars for more desirable models. I definitely have to agree on the Ferrari California, it is an incredible car and a great entry into the Ferrari world. I understand some of the hate towards the California, but not when people say it isn't a real Ferrari, as it truly is. I also completely agree on the Viper prices being too low. Hopefully prices on the Viper start going up to where they belong, as most of them are still cheaper (close to half) the price they were new when adjusted for inflation. I talk about the toxic Viper market on my channel a bit, as it really causes me to scratch my head.
Owned an RX8. The design is getting better with age. I think it is beautiful with the shape of the rotor incorporated all over very neatly. Wonderful unique bits everywhere and it handles and drives amazingly. Not fast, fast, just amazing fun. Lovely interior too. Wish I still had it.

I'd like to add the 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited to this list. Way too cheap and undervalued! I've enjoyed mine since Oct 2001. Great car, 120k mi and looks/runs like new today!
